Luke begins his trek back to Manchester with the latest bunch of ‘recruits’ for the cities. He is strangely impressed by the ‘old’ man, Ragland, who, after proving he is not a threat asks if he can travel south with them.

Meanwhile, back in Manchester, a group of children have gone missing after a day out exploring. Isaac, Indigo and the other parents are frantic with worry and with every hour that passes, the more convinced Isaac becomes that its not just a case of them being lost in the woods.

His son’s torn and bloody jacket found in a trampled clearing confirms his worst suspicions. Based on the signs in the clearing, they were taken by a large, well-organized group whose intentions can only be bad.

Isaac rushes to prepare a rescue party, knowing time is of the essence if they are to find the abductors and save the children.

How I’ve loved this series. Marketed for teens and young adults but I think they’re suitable for everyone. I’m a grandma and I enjoyed every book in the series. Loved the characters, the plot, the excitement. Lots of drama, tears and also some laughter from a couple of really memorable characters. I really hope there’s another book, or several as the writer could take this so much further. Thoroughly enjoyed my evenings curled up with these and highly recommended.

Had a little trouble getting through this one. Story just started to get a little stale. Overall, the series is worth a read, but I doubt I'd go back and read it a second time.

Our dear author has forgotten his own continuity. A bunch of kids get kidnapped.

One is Max, who is explicitly described as 11-years-old. However, according to the established fact that the fall happened ~10 years ago, when his father Isaac was ~15, and Max was born when Issac was ~20, the absolute oldest Max could possibly be is 6.

It is talked about repeatedly that Joshua Ragland is now 34 and that the fall happened when he was 24. It's not a matter of misinterpreting text. The author just isn't paying attention, which is a bummer.

Also, when did Luke have a second daughter?

None of this makes sense.

Action Packed Installation

I admit I didn’t rrealise I’d get so into it his series when I started it but here I am 11 books in and super keen for book 12. I shed a tear for the losses in this book and have to say I was so worried during the bear scene.
I hope we meet Chris again and that he is able to be redeemed. And of course I’m keen for more on Bakers Town, Kit, Claire and Alex and the rest.
The author has done a great job keeping the series fresh and I’m happy to read on.

I bought this series as an audible omnibus. I’m so glad to be done. If I hadn’t paid for it, I probably would have put it in the “did not finish” category. This series tries hard to be accepting of all while leaving out anyone who is a little different. Women are mostly treated with misogyny, put into caregiving, mother, cower-behind-the-man roles (with very few exceptions). Time acts differently in these books. What will seem like a series of events that takes place over a few weeks will suddenly have taken months with no explanation.

Worth the wait.

I have been waiting on Storm Clouds since April and at long last it has arrived. I tried to take my time reading it but no chance I just had to keep turning the pages and then it was finished. It is an action-packed and Issac and Luke are still to the fore along with a few new ones although we do say goodbye to a couple of old faces. A definitely great read and well worth 5 stars.

good read

This is another good book in the continuing saga of Issac and Luke. The only thing that kinda bothered me was the apparent lack of concern that Issac showed for his son Max when they were trying to find him. Maybe it was just me. Still, overall a good book and I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next one in the series.

It doesn't get any better than this.

A very long series but well worth the reading investment. Multiple characters from different backgrounds join forces to save a group of children from slavers. Taught action and suspense thru out. Well paced and well written, most will enjoy this book which is full of heart and American grit and honor.

This is enjoyable YA post-apocalyptic fiction. The plots are predictable, still fun. But please explain to me how there are teenage children born after the apocalypse that happened 11 years prior. The math isn’t working, and all the author has to do is change the timeline, but never does. Oh well. It’s an alright listen for middle-of-the-night-up-with-an-infant-and-need-entertainment.

The heroes combine

The author brings three of previous heroes together in an action packed but harrowing tale of kidnapping for slavery. Not all the good people survive. (More missing words and bad grammar pop up unfortunately. Slow down the writing and proofread more.)
