Review:
This book made me cry, mad, and also smile. Love that the story is realistic and also love how they encourage each other and also tried to help each other with their problems that they have. Though at first they don’t see eye to eye but as they get to know each other they realized that they started to fall for each other. And his grandmother is so sweet and she adores Rose so much. And she is a great listener and adviser to both of them. And they are so sweet with each other. Despite of family drama (which you need to read to know) they depend on each other.
I got this ARC via BookSprout thanks to Liz Hamilton for this and voluntarily leaving a review.
Can’t wait to read the first book of the series is Doctor Next Door. Would love to read it.
P.S I lowkey want Gerald to have his happily ever after too.
You can purchase Liz Hamilton books in Amazon and it is available in KU.
Sam & Rose were enemies at first due to a mild misunderstanding but then they eventually learned more about each other and fell in sort of a routine when they started living together. It was nice to see the progression of their relationship. While I found Rose & Sam somewhat annoying in the first half, because of their character development, I started to enjoy the second half. That's where I felt the chemistry between them. Overall, the book was an enjoyable and lighthearted read.
I only made it through maybe six chapters. It seemed like a robot wrote it. The language was very stilted. There was nothing to make the characters stand out or any reason to care for them. It's a solid premise, but the writing wasn't enough to maintain my interest.
This is one of the most poorly written stories that I've read in a long time. Not only is it a litany of grammar errors, the character's dialogue contradicts itself repeatedly. There is no character development nor introductions to the sub-characters or even a plot that can be followed.
A wonderful fun story about two opposites who took an instant dislike of each other end of in a marriage of convenience. Rose and Sam have been at loggerheads, especially since she complained about his loud, late parties. They have taken an absolute dislike of each other from the beginning. So when Sam's grandfather leaves Sam the family business but with the caveat that he has 90 days to get married or his inheritance will be gone. What is he to do? He's not seeing anyone regularly and doesn't want to get married. So when he makes a strange proposal to Rose that they should enter into a contracted marriage of convenience which would benefit them both, with some trepidation, she accepts. Little did they know what the end results would bring. This is a fun page turning sweet romance you just can't put down! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
I really enjoy stories that get me emotionally invested. Rose and Sam's story did that. I loved Rose. She's sassy, straight to the point, and doesn't care who Sam is or how much money he has. She speaks her mind regardless. Sam's behavior and coldness got on my nerves. She has questions and certain things, but him brushing her off and just being rude is only going to made her feel worse about deceiving his gramma. He's definitely played the grumpy part well. But I liked how his perspective and opinion changed over time. He began to see they everything isn't just about him and his feelings. His decisions have a lasting effect on Rose as well and maybe he should have asked for her opinions and feelings along the way. I had my suspicions of who the true villan was in the story, but I wasn't ready for the twist that came along with that confirmation. Overall, it's a great story about love, family, and forgiveness.
Sam & Rose have been sort of enemies since their first meeting several years ago. Honestly, it was just a series of minor disagreements, but they didn't care for one another. But soon circumstances make it so that they need each other and they end up in a marriage of convenience. As they start spending more time together, they fall in reluctant love with one another. Neither of them believes that they are ready for a real relationship, but they may be in too deep before they realize it.
This is a really sweet romance between two characters who are just going with the flow through life until they are forced to spend time with one another. When they do, they are struck by how much they actually like the other person. It's super sweet reading them come to the realization that they don't feel "stuck" anymore.
I couldn’t get into this book and DNF after reading the first 3 chapters especially because of the poor writing. Some of the language was ‘off’, i.e., some common phrases weren’t written correctly. It happened more than once in the chapters I read.
Then throw in the mix where the Grandfather’s mistress and their son is at the reading of his will along with his widow, the confusion where the MMC ‘provides’ the keys to his cabin in the country for his friends and family to use (with the implication that they are throwing parties) but no mention is made that the same was true to the apartment next to the MFC, which, I assume, was the premise for the MFC being upset with the noise coming from that apartment, I gave up on reading more.
sweet and sassy rom-com it's a fake marriage (for inheritance) but also has a few twists family drama kinda enemies that turn to each other for help and then feelings happen these 2 are def opposites and they are pulled together So my favorite part is not really the relationship part even though that was great but the part where Rose bonds with his family (Grandma) it's sooo sweet and warms your heart This book is hard to talk about because it might give too much away, it's one of those books that you just have to read and enjoy for yourself.
I was able to read this ARC thanks to the publisher and Booksprouts. The review above is my own, honest, and voluntary.
Such a sweet and adorable book. After Sam lost his grandfather, and at the reading of the will. Sam had to deal with a stipulation from his grandfather: Marriage. The will stated that he had to get married in order to receive his inheritance. So he decides to plan a fake marriage with a woman named Rose. Rose and Sam couldn't stand each other, so they ended up baiting each other. As the story progressed, they slowly fell in love with each other. As I said it was a sweet and endearing romance that I enjoyed so very much. I have received a complimentary ARC copy from the author for an honest and fair review.
I really enjoyed reading this. I love how Sam and Rose started out. The snarkiness from Rose was great. At first I really didn’t like Sam, but he grew on me. Gerald confused me, but I was still surprised to see what happened. I also loved Anna.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rose and Sam live across the hall from each other and can't seem to be civil for a moment. When Sam's grandfather dies, he leaves a weird stipulation to get his inheritance- he need to be married. Sam is totally against the thought of marriage. So he offers the one person he knows won't interfere with his life to be a fake wife for 3 months for the tidy sum of 20 million dollars. Surprisingly, she accepts. But after they get married, they find out there are even more stipulations to get control of the company. Watching the characters play out the issues that arise were heartwarming. I loved the way they worked through everything, and found love in the end.
This is a very good story Sam is the Next door neighbor to Rose and at times his apartment is so noisy she cannot sleep His grandfather died and left him A billionaire with stipulations he has to marry so he contracts with Rose and they marry but being together they fell in love and broke the contract and lived happily A wonderful story Loved reading
Grumpy Billionaire Next Door: A Sweet Fake Marriage Rimance
At first I was confused because it felt like there were two really grumpy people in this story. However, it all worked out very nicely with a lot to think about as personalities grew and transformed. I’m glad I found this story. I plan to read more books by Liz Hamilton.
Sam and Rose narrate their points of view in this charming romance, Opposites attract ….eventually. Enemy to lover in the drop of a wedding hat…. They made a deal to end all deals that changed from a fake to absolutely real Love story . Well written , great characters with chemistry and good back stories I read an arc of this and my review is voluntary
Grumpy Billionaire Next Door was an excellent read. A very interesting family saga. It kept me turning the pages & wanting to know what was going to happen between the key players. It’s hard not to have sympathy for them & their flaws. Heartwarming conclusion. I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author & I am writing a voluntary honest review
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure if Rose or Sam is the most immature. Liz Hamilton had me shaking my head in disbelief while laughing at the mayhem. We are given billionaires, romance, humor, crime and a few surprising twists. I really enjoyed this book.
This was a good read. Sam needs to get married. He asks Rose to be his fake wife. At first it was rough between them. However, they end up falling in love and get their happy ending.
DNF at 30%, but should have dropped it after 1%. And this is coming from me, woman who forces herself to finish almost every book. Poor writing, annoying characters, did not like it at all.
How I felt: - I loved the banter with our main characters, it was the best. It was powerful and at times it even hurt. But hurting the other was just their way to guarantee they wouldn't risk falling in love. And we know that never works. - Our MMC was quite brutal with her in the beginning, and the author almost makes you hate him for being so heartless. But he soon begins to feel guilty and can't go on with being cruel to her. - The 1st half of the book, you'll be suffering some good angst, and I loved it! I craved it and I got it. The 2nd half was less emotional between them, because they were growing. Even with some rough obstacles on the way, I didn't feel the angst or the emotion I was hoping to still feel. - I loved the fight for family values and trying to create peace - it was a wonderful thing. But many of the problems felt too easily resolved, or there was no reason for some of the reactions and some characters went from bad to good for no reason. It just wasn't credible. - My biggest disappointment was with the writing- it was not good. Very robotic in many places, there was no feeling described where there should be. A lot of improvement is needed with edits in this book.
Overall: - This is a clean and proper romance with just the right amount of chemistry. - It is a fast and easy read, that will keep you turning your pages. - Some may think our MMC is too aggressive with his banter or cruel actions, but I think he was just making sure she wouldn't fall in love with him. He needed her to keep hating him.
Tropes: - Enemies to lovers - Marriage of convenience - Family drama - Fake marriage - Billionaire MMC - Designer FMC - Banter - Clean romance
