Gang of Ghouls #1-4

Gang of Ghouls: The Complete Series

Rate this book
Kinda dead. Straight-up psycho. Totally obsessed with her.

I did a bad, bad thing.

Thanks to a blank in my memory, I'm not sure what that thing was, but it was horrible enough to get me locked up in the psych ward for seven years.

When I'm released back into a town determined to rub my unknown sins in my face, the past isn't the only thing that's haunting me.

The four "imaginary" friends who made my childhood bearable are back... and undeniably real. Not to mention crude, criminally inclined, and more than a little unstable after ages trapped in afterlife limbo.

All they want is to protect me. Worship me. Avenge me.

So they'll bludgeon, maim, eviscerate—tear a strip of havoc right through this sleepy town.

Even rise from the dead.

Maybe I'm still not all that sane either, because part of me finds them strangely appealing. In ways very different from how I felt as a kid. And that's not the only strangeness stirring inside me...

I promised myself I'd stick to the straight and narrow from here on. But what if the only way to set things right is to get a little ghoulish?

*Gang of Ghouls is a darkly humorous paranormal romance series by bestselling author Eva Chase. If you love sarcastic heroines with unexpected powers, obsessive supernatural men who'll do anything to defend their woman, and plenty of mystery and mayhem, dive right in! I’ll be honest, this book reads like fanfic written by an adolescent. It’s just… not good.

This series wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't great. There was a plot with multiple storylines happening that did get woven together, but there were so many times where each book felt too long while simultaneously not giving much info. Throughout all 4 books, the guys are getting money to buy expensive things, but we're never told how. I don't mean the money and credit cards they immediately have access to; I'm talking about the money for the motorcycles, cars, two locations they rent and buy all while they're struggling to learn how to use modern-day cellphones. Also, they spend so much of the books having no weapons other than their ghost powers that deplete with use until re-charged, so it became a tad annoying that they continued to rush into fighting other gang members, cops, and security with no weapons or, eventually, a single gun. The story had pacing issues and a lot of boring times where I had to scroll through just to be able to read the ending.

I liked the ghost guys (Kai, Jett, Ruin, and Nox) way more than I liked Lily. She wasn't terrible by any means, but she kept making dumb choices in the majority of the books, and most of her character growth was towards the end of book 3 and then more in book 4. I know the idea is that they're crazy killers, but they didn't actually seem that crazy. Maybe a little in the first book, but most of what they did was in Lily's defense when she was bullied. They offed some gang members who were trying to off them, which was meh.

Ridiculous

Lots of ridiculousness and weirdness. The story was okay, but when you think the MC is going to make a logical choice to do something, her actual choice is just dumb as all get out and you’re left like… “what!?!” and then it moves on from there like that made sense. Then you forget about the road you think the story was going down and ride the wave towards what the author lays out. Then, now that you’re on Stupid Lane and think it’s gotten logical again and you know the next step in this arc, the swerve the car onto WTF Blvd and you’re lost.

3.5 it wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t bad either the story was cute and at the same time a little boring I don’t know what it is it’s that just doesn’t sit right with me it just wasn’t that exciting and it def had potential the story itself was great I just think the way it was written made it bland instead of in a exciting way

Overall I give the complete series a 4.5 all four books had me intrigued because the drama and the suspense in each of the books kept you on edge !
When I first started reading this book I was so confused but the weirdness kept me hooked because it was just so interesting.

Who knew four Ghostly men could attract you so much lmao !

The story was very good through and through all of the characters were so unique in their own way which made each chapter so much better and you learn so much about each character which was a great !

There wasn’t a point in this book where you weren’t shocked or surprised with all the twists and turns which I enjoyed thoroughly! I was here for all the drama and action in this book it felt like a show where you just binge watch in one sitting.

My favorite two were Kia and Jett idk why but something about those two really intrigued me! I loved me some Ruin as well he’s always so positive and uplifting that it made me smile so much!

4.5 star rating.
Over all this is a really good series if you love ghouls and anything supernatural and dark. I read most of it ebook and listened to some audiobook. it's very spicy in the books and I mean very. 😏
I really enjoyed the storyline and plots of the books, I've never really listened to books with gangs before so I've ventured out my comfort zone. I do love the supernatural elements of it though. The story was written very well. I didn't enjoy the audiobook to be honest. Ive listened to better preformances for aufiobooks, reason being the male was very quick at reading his parts even when i was listening 1.80 ish speed it was kind of like he wanted to get his part over with. the female was good but she was reading alot of the characters and male characters then it would swap in the middle and have the man reading some of the women parts and men.
I didn't get why there was 2 people reading out in this audiobook. To be honest im adhd and found it confusing. So I don't really recommend the audiobook at all. This is why I only gave it a 4.5 star rating.

This could have had soooo much potential but it flopped for me. Didn't finish. Put in my abandoned pile.

I love supernatural/ paranormal freaky sh-t and don't mind if it or they are a little weird or bonkers. But the writing just wasn't there.

I kept forgetting the mens names as well because it switched between their real names and the guys they possessed. I only remembered Ansel and his personality.

The storyline was slow. I switched between ebook and audible and annoyed I paid for the audiobook.

I also still wasn't 100% sure about the guys and her as romantic interests because of the age gap (I know they're dead but it's still older men and weird) they knew her when she was a child and sure some years passed but they still played with her as a child.

Anyway 1.5 for me and that's only for the creativity and uniqueness of the idea.

This series is unusual, intriguing and immensely enjoyable. There are four books all of which I listened to when they were first released when I had to keep waiting for the next one following the cliffhanger ending Eva left us with.

The Stalking Dead
The premise of this book is so original, but then all of Ms Chase's work is in a class of its own, I have no idea how she comes up with her stories but I'm happy that she does. In this case Lilly, the female lead has just been released from a mental institution, where she was incarcerated at the age of thirteen. Now after seven years, she's free to go home, reconnect with her younger sister and hopefully find out what she did that was so terrible she was committed in the first place.

A sound plan or at least it would be if her mother and stepfather would allow her near her sister and if the students at the college she is attending would just leave her alone.

The male characters are her four imaginary friends from her childhood, at least that's what she thought they were, but they were the ghostly spirits of four murdered members of an MC, who helped to save her from drowning when she was six. As soon as they sense that Lilly is back they decide that they must reconnect with her but as an adult, she can no longer hear them, in fact, she's forgotten all about them. They decide to take over the bodies of her four worst tormentors so she'll be able to see and talk with them.

Criminal Spirits
This second book in Eva Chases’s Gang of Ghouls series picks up where the first left off and takes us on a rollercoaster ride of discovery as Lily and her guys try to find out more about the Gaunts, Nolan in particular. To do this Lily and Kai obtain positions in their company hoping to find out what ties Nolan has to Lily's sister Marisol. Unfortunately, they learn more than they bargained for.

As Lily learns to take control of her power, the guys discover their hidden powers too and they deal with kidnapping as well as the gang who killed them originally trying to take them down for a second time. Then there are some random thugs trying to kill Ruin's host but why?

Lily finally gets Marisol away from her toxic family and the future's looking good but then suddenly Marisol freaks out on her and they realize they’re not out of the woods yet, and neither is Marisol. You can't help but be drawn into this story, or like these guys who appear so bad but are guardian angels where Lily's concerned and it’s looking like she’s gonna need them more than ever now thanks to the cliffhanger Eva Chase threw in at the end!

Grave Misconduct
This book picks up exactly where the previous book ended, Marisol has run away and Lily is now desperate to find her. The story moves at a good pace and as I've come to expect is full of mystery and magic. Lily discovers how to break the control the Gaunts seem to have over anybody bearing the strange birthmarks, but there are so many and not all on children.

The guys are all working to rebuild the Skullbreakers, finding new recruits and a new base for their club all while trying to discover who was responsible for their murders 21 years ago. Each of the guys discovers their magical power, and Lily discovers that she can influence more than water!

But the Gaunt's magic is very strong, their powers, it seems, have something to do with the marsh where Lily almost drowned and where the guys' bodies were dumped. Will Lily and the guys be able to defeat them? Will the Marsh help them?

The ending of this book left me shocked, and shouting No! Miss Chase, you better sort the situation out satisfactorily in the next book!

Deathly Delinquency
It's really hard to write this review, not because I didn't enjoy the book because I most certainly did it's because I refuse to spoil the book by telling you what happens to Lily, Kai, Jett, Ruin and Knox. What I will say is that I loved all the characters, each one unique and special in their own way making it impossible for me to pick a favourite among the guys who each in their own way won my admiration.

Eva took these characters right to the edge, throwing so many obstacles in their way, how were they to come out on top, the story took so many twists and turns would they find a way to stop the Gaunt's power? The author kept us guessing right to the very end, I never for one moment felt bored or wanted the story to end. I loved the connection and the chemistry shared by the five of them and the heat and the steam in these books were so well done too!

I just love how Eva brought their story to a close and loved the epilogue that answered all my unanswered questions.

Hollie Jackson and Joe Arden do an excellent job with the narration, they work well together and bring the characters to life.

I read each of these books as an advanced reader. My reviews are voluntary.

The Stalking Dead

Loving the new series from Eva Chase. Lily was locked away in an asylum for years - and she has no idea what she did. She can't remember and apparently anyone who knows the story isn't talking. The doctors have finally released her and she has returned to her hometown to attempt to reconnect with her little sister. Her mother refuses to let her see sister and threatens to call the cops on her if she tries.

Meanwhile, at college....it seems everyone either knows about her incarceration or will know as soon as the gossipers get through. She is being harassed by everyone from an old childhood nemesis to one of her teachers. It seems that no one is going to let her live her life in peace. She just wants to prove that she isn't crazy and, hopefully, get to see her sister. Then, suddenly, one day all of her biggest detractors seem to have switched sides. Ansel, Vincent, Zach, and Mr. Grimes are suddenly acting like her best friends. Nothing suspicious there.

Nox, Kai, Ruin, and Jett have known Lily ever since they saved her life when she almost drowned in the marsh. She, of course, doesn't realize that her "imaginary" childhood friends are actually the ghosts of four guys whose lives of crime were ended suddenly when they were murdered and their bodies were dumped in the marsh. When Lily suddenly stopped coming to the marsh to escape her home life, the guys didn't know what happened to her. All they know is she is back now and they are determined to keep her safe. It seems a perfect plan to use the bodies of her biggest harassers to bring themselves back into her life. But can they convince her that they are her old playmates and are their violent methods of "keeping her safe" going to land her in more hot water?

Criminal Spirits

Lily and her ghoulish guys are still together. Now that she has been fired from her job at the grocery store, Lily needs to find another job so she can pay her bills. She also needs a new place to live where she can have her sister live with her. Finding out that Thrivewell Enterprises has an entry-level opening in the mail room, gives Lily the chance to not only have a paycheck but to do some spying on Nolan Gauntt. Kai does some hocus pocus that makes her into a enticing candidate and then gets himself hired on also so he can assist her. Lily is also trying to the out how her newly discovered powers work.

Meanwhile, Nox, Ruin, Jett, and Kai are still trying to find out who killed them and dumped their bodies in the marsh. They work their way through several penny-ante gangs before hitting what looks like paydirt. Apparently, someone told the Skeleton Corps gang that Nox's gang was out to get them causing them to go after Nox and his guys first. The Skullbreakers, that's Nox and company, get themselves a new clubhouse but they can't seem to get the Skeleton Corps to come out into the open. When they do get their attention, it is the wrong kind. Someone vandalizes Lily's new apartment before she even gets a chance to move in. What can go wrong next? Don't even ask.

Grave Misconduct

Marisol has run off and Lily can't find her anywhere. Obviously, the Gauntts have her sister under the same kind of spell Lily herself was once under. Meanwhile, her four Skullbreakers are still trying to track down the gang who murdered them twenty-one years ago. All of them have powers that are still developing and when Kai points out that Lily may be able to manipulate blood, a whole new weapon is born. Jett starts to come out of his shell and hint that he may have the same feelings for Lily that his friends do. A showdown between the Skullbreakers and the Skeleton Corps looms, the group learns more about the Gauntts, one of the guys is almost killed. Then there is the cliffhanger...

Deathly Delinquency

In the final book of the series, Lily has to dig deep to keep herself, her sister, and her guys moving forward in the fight against the Gauntts. With Ruin still recovering from his injuries and now Nox in a catatonic state after his run-in with the new Nolan Gauntt, the team is down two fighters. The Gauntts are bringing the fight to their door and they have to get creative if they want to stay in the ring. From parade floats to frogs, Lily and the team throw everything they have into the fray, but it may be that real power lies in the spirits of those the Gauntts have harmed the most - the dead.

Great wrapup to the series.

I liked how different this series was to anything the author has put out. I liked the concept of a bunch of ghouls coming back and helping their love interest to help get her life back/stop the bullying/take down evil bad guys. I had to keep remembering that they weren’t in their 40s because they did die and had remained in the marsh for 21 years. I absolutely loved the guys nicknames for Lily and how they helped her and how she finally believed who they were haha. I laughed so hard with some of the antics from Ruin and actually from some of the other guys. They had missed a lot being in limbo for 21 years so to see them try to handle cell phones and other technology was hilarious.

I didn't see some of the twists and turns coming, so that was fun! Again I loved the humor we got despite some really hard topics (child abuse and assault being some of the big ones). The bullying was tough on Lily but at least it never came from her harem. I liked seeing some of the bad apples were not what they seemed and the real bad guys got their just rewards. There were some I wished had also gotten their justice for how they treated their kids. I liked seeing the powers grow and evolve as the book went on and how they were able to band together to get a huge thing back to normal in book 4 (no spoilers from me!). We had really 2 main sub plots and they converged at the end which was nice. I liked how you got the juxtaposition but all the connections starting making sense and we could see all the Easter eggs the author left us readers along the way haha.

Overall 4-4.25 stars for me for the series. It wasn’t my favorite by this author but I did enjoy it and would still recommend it to readers who love RH, who want some laughs, and enjoy PNR with some twists.

Narration was sometimes a mix for me just because I thought the female narrator could be OTT and make the characters some outrageous or whiney. I thought the emotions she was able to provide were spot on though, it was just the execution of her performance sometimes took me out of the story. I would give her 4 stars. For Joe, I thought he did incredible, he would get a 5 star rating from me. I loved getting the POVs from the guys perspective and Joe really helped bring the characters to life and I could imagine all the quirks they each have, that lead them to that awesome finale/epilogue ❤️.

I liked Gang of Ghouls

Lily is released from a mental facility after spending 7 years there after being placed by her mother and stepfather when she was 13. Earlier than that she had an incident at the marsh and was looked over by her ghoulish gangster buddies who had been murdered 20 years prior. Now that she is back without acceptance by the public or her parents, she encounters her childhood friends and protecters who are now protecting her from the menace that started the tragedy and is keeping her away from her sister Marisol.

In the second book Lily is discovering she has extraordinary powers and that despite not remembering what happened there are more involved and keeping her teenaged sister Mari from her. The gang of ghouls 4 men who have now evolved from ghosts are trying to protect Lily and are quite taken with her as an adult. The gang will get revenge but find connections from their past and Lily’s current problems. They are also extremely prone to violence while they take care of their Lily!

In the third book, Lily, Jet, Kai, Nox and Ruin are all about protecting Marisol who is now going to live with her. Her stepfather and mother are not trying to deal with a Lily and the old gangster gang, but the enemy at the root of her life problems are now actively trying to stop her from repairing relationships, the damage they have caused to Marisol and Lily and the Skill gang is in cahoots with the enemy. As Lily continues moving forward with her life and her men she gains control of her gifts as Jet, Kai, Nox and Ruin are also upgraded and making moves to take charge of their new reality. When the team is hit hard the 4th and the last of the series begins.

Now it is on and the Gauntts have now drawn a sand in the line after their lastest attacks on Lily, Marisol and the Gang of Ghouls. Lily has figured out what they’ve been doing but in this book she has to stop their heinous crimes forever as her list of allies grows in a paranormal way. Her affinity to water has now stretched to the marsh and other vital liquid sources. Her team has been injured but she has a plan and brings out the big guns to save those she has decided to protect.

In the bonus epilogue Lily is 5 years older, successful and happy -Between her singing and her successful Gang of ghouls she is set for an HEA.

Rating the series a 3 as a whole. There were some bright spots — and a lot of frustration.

I read the complete set of these books all at once, which was probably for the best because if I’d gotten the books individually, the abrupt cliffhanger endings may have inspired me to give up on the series.

I really enjoyed the 4 male main characters. They had some depth to them and their personalities were varied and developed enough for them all to be very distinct. However, for a series entitled “Gang of Ghouls” and a description of them as being psycho gangsters, they came across as very…watered-down (no pun intended) in the psycho department. Not only that, but for all the street sense (plus Kai’s supposed ability to read people), they made a few decisions that were at best naïve and at worst downright stupid.

Like, ghosts that murder and then possess their victims? Okay. Sure. I’ll buy it. But in what world am I supposed to believe they could make enemies with a vicious rival gang and then just be like, “Oh, we really just wanted to throw you a party” — and they expected the other gang to be dumb enough to actually accept that?!?

Then onto Lily, the other main character. She’s…fine. For the most part. But also makes some questionable decisions. In fact, the most blatantly “WTF?!? Are you idiots?!? That’s so clearly a dumb decision!!!” choices made by Lily and her men are the two that end up with members of their team getting seriously injured. Which, in the end, just made them feel like badly written plot devices.

For all the build-up over the books, the ultimate ending feels rushed and a bit too…tidy? There’s a bonus epilogue that was extremely cringe in how over-the-top the happy ending was supposed to be. In the five years after the defeat of their enemies, Lily has reached Taylor Swift levels of pop-stardom — which might have been easier to swallow if any of the “lyrics” to the melodies she made up in the midst of the series had been in any way inspiring or meaningful…or catchy.

But anyway, overall, the saving grace were the men and the sexy parts of the story. Except for the time Lily started singing on the verge of climaxing. That was…awkward.

The Stalking Dead (Gang of Ghouls Book 1)
What a brilliant premise four ghosts coming back from the dead to protect Lily from her bullies bully's and help her figure out what happened seven years ago. the guy's a with a psycho with capital P
Criminal Spirits (Gang of Ghouls Book 2)
Lily and her gang of ghouls are back with avengence. The boys Jatt, Nox, Ruin and Kai want to find out who killed them, thereis no rest for the wicked, but more importantly the will protect Lily and help her get Marisol back. Things are very complicated. They have enimies every where they look. Lily is starting to relalise that the Gauntts are more dangerious and powerful than she ever thought possible
Grave Misconduct (Gang of Ghouls Book 3)
Lily and her gang of gang are desperately trying to find Marisol, Lily's sister when they realise that there are more people that have the strange birthmark on their arms, and Gauntts can control them with it. Including Marisol. Lily's powers are growing stronger, but she has more enimes on the horizon. not just the Gauntt's who have far more knowledge and experience than she and her men do.
This read is full of excitement , danger and steam, Her men support her and love her unconditionally
Deathly Delinquency (Gang of Ghouls Book 4)
The Gaunnts make have won the last battle with Lily and her ghostly gangsters, but the war is far from over and Lily and her men come back with avengeance. The Gaunnts know they must destroy Lily and her allies if they want to keep their power and keep the sickening insidious behaviour secret. This is a fantastic conclusion to a brilliant series. I can't wait to see what Eva Chase come up with next.

This series left a lot to be desired. For one, it feels like reading an edgy teenager's tumblr blog at times, especially when it's trying to be "deep" about the meaning of art and music. Too many tragically tortured souls, and I say that with all the sarcasm in the world. I ranted a bit about my issues with Lily being an absolute pushover who never fights back, thankfully this is improved after book one. Does it make the series better though? Eh, no. The love interests become absolute simps about how great and powerful and ✨special✨ Lily is, and it just makes all of them unbearably annoying. I feel like they didn't really have much of a personality outside of their whining, especially Lily about her singing/music and one of the love interests whose name I can't even remember because they were all so generic won't shut up about making ✨art✨ and honestly they were all so insufferable I wanted to strangle them. Don't get me started on the smut, because it was SO BAD. I cringed so hard. They barely touch and they're already having simultaneous orgasms. There's no build-up, no tension, no teasing, just a bunch of poorly written quickies that end in 0.4 seconds flat. Don't get me started on Lily bursting into song while she's riding dick. So you're wondering, why did I read 4 books even though I didn't like them much at all? I guess because by the time I realized how much I disliked them, I was almost done with the 3rd book, and I figured I might as well push through and finish the series.

I really like this series. Finished all 4 books in two days flat. I couldn’t put it down (except when I had to go to work). It’s your typical love story: girl gets out of a mental hospital, gets bullied by literally everybody, then meets/gets reacquainted with four ghosts who were her “imaginary friends” when she was a kid. Except they weren’t imaginary, they were the murdered spirits of gangsters who had been killed twenty years before. Now, they want to help the girl so they manage to kill four of the bullies and reanimate the fresh bodies with their own spirits. Then they attack all the other bullies for the girl and kill a few other people for good measure before the five of them get close and fall in love. It’s a tale as old as time. 😆

They also want revenge on the people who killed their initial bodies, once they manage to find out who that was. The girl discovers that there is a nefarious shady character who deliberately kept her locked in the psych ward for seven years, so she and the ghouls team up to find out what is going on. It gets violent. The story gets more and more involved and there’s some great twists and turns, including supernatural abilities, frog armies and some moderately spicy sexytimes. It’s definitely worth the read, even though it’s a long way to the end of the books.

I made it through the 1st book, some moments I just sat there saying " the fmc can't be this novice about the situation" but I was indeed why she went this hard for her sibling but not for herself is crazy not to find out more about herself but everyone else around her...
I had to DNF after the 2nd book the plot isn't making sense for the whole sister stalker plot... it was waaaay too much focus on that.

SPOILER⬇️⬇️

Frog powers?? 🥲

Why the heck would she have the spice time with Nox 2st when there was no spark it was just kist vs Ruin I felt like would have been a great set up for a passionate spice scene... he kept getting interrupted but they claim not the be jealous of each other and share but... yeah very contradicting😭

Why did she sing during a spice scene it made it even weirder imagining, she choose to sing during this time OUT OF ALL THE CHANCES?!!

EASY READ: flew through the book so yes
SPICE 🌶🌶🌶
ENDING of the 1st book interesting
Plot: All over the place and confusing💀

Now, while this book is not marked as a dark romance, this book still needs trigger warnings. There is child abuse, grooming, child sexual assault, even hints of it not in detail but it's there. It's a great story with very little smut, focusing more on the issue at hand, which is fine, but coming off a high of dark romance to this was not what I expected. It's still a really good book I just expect smut from beginning to end and that's more of a me problem then a writer's problem.😂

I think dark romance has officially broken my brain. This was a good book and funny, but I think my expectations for smutty scenes are on a dark romance level that it was kind of disappointing to read after coming off Evil Boys by Clarissa Wild as far as smut. I feel like the way the writer described the murders could have also been portrayed in the smut it felt like she was dipping her toe in it. A little darkness with the sword scene a little smut ya know? I'd read it again book only no audiobook. Back to the darkness.

This is the complete series that introduces Lily and her 4 imaginary friends from her childhood that somehow come back from the dead to protect her. Of course the reason why Lily needs protecting seems straightforward but as the story continues seems to have a mystery attached to it. The story was funny and yet suspenseful and a touch of mystery thrown in for fun. The characters were fun and interesting and had hidden depths. As the series progresses really get to know Lily and her men and the lengths her men will go to to help and keep Lily safe. Dark, surprises along the way, danger, and a hot RH plot adds to everything. Was glued to the end to as I needed to figure out what was going on and how Lily fit into it. And the mysteries along the way kept me coming back for more.

Listened to the GraphicAudio version of this series and not sure I would've continued after the first book had I read it with my eyes. All-in-all, I found the story itself fun, but it was also too drawn out for my taste; it could've been edited to 2 (or maybe 3) books. Also, I do my best to buy into insta-love, but I didn't really feel it between any of them. Maybe it had to do with the oddly written spicy times which left me confused and definitely pulled me out of the moments, or that the love was just a given because "magic," but not how that magic worked. I did I learn from listening to this that I prefer either the author write a fade-to-black moment or just go all-in with the descriptions, so there's that.

3.75 Stars 🌟 This was 4 books in 1. It was somewhat of a slow burn considering she didn’t end up with all her men until I wanna say book 2-3. Loved the idea that her ghostly protectors came back from the dead just so they can take care of her. The powers were interesting and fun to learn about along with the characters, it was entertaining to see the different manifestations as to how it fit everyone’s personalities. The but of mystery that went along with the book kept me hooked as well but it was a bit of an anticlimactic reasoning. The pursuit for revenge and the gang fights that followed created a better sense of urgency. Overall it was an enjoyable read and the vibe I was looking for in the moment.

Okay, so the first 1/4 of the book was a little rocky. I wasn’t sure I was gonna continue with it, but everything after that was worth it and I was glad I did. The spice was good…no long drawn out scenes or anything, but I felt like it worked well throughout the book. The plot was actually really interesting too. I’ve not read a book with a storyline like this series had and that was refreshing, considering the RH trope. I loved the characters too. The FMC wasn’t a damsel in distress and I liked how all the guys poured into her.

This book was so long but so good. I am so proud of myself for reading such a big book. This book was so good. I wish we got more of Jett's pov tho but that would be all if i had to complain about. Love all the men and Lily was such a nice character to follow although i wish we had less of her pov but i guess that makes sense she she's the main character. And they spicy scenes were so spicy i ate them up. The plot was super fun to follow and i love the gangster. Over all this was such a fun read.

Amazing story

Loved the character depths. Their histories, the hidden truths, the way the characters grew. They opened themselves to new beginnings, selflessness in the face of their own bad deeds, love, hope, compassion... it's a great series. One to keep. Amazing.
I wish it had another book. A short story that shows the future a bit further along. Maybe a supernatural visit from Nox's granny. To say she's proud of the man he becomes.
Loved this one. Amazing!!!

I love this author, but this series is one of my absolute faves. So much so, I bought all books on kindle and read them, then on Audible and listened and now have added the complete series in both versions too. Lovely additional epilogue in the combined series.

Currently reviewing this whilst listening to her cowritten book Shotgun Spin, she does supernatural SO well, but even contempoary it has me hooked :)

I really REALLY wanted to love this book (all 4) I read the whole thing but it was hard work. I really loved the idea of it, and I loved the fact that the "powers" were pretty "lame" compared to other paranormal books you can get, but it flitted so fast in places and then so slow in others. Lilly was pretty cool, didn't take any crap. The book isn't bad at all, but I don't think it needed to be 1004 pages long!

Great premise bad follow-through

I have read several series by this author and some of them are wonderful and I enjoy coming back to them. But others are very slow and the main female character is exceedingly annoying and the overall storyline is really awesome so you want to get through the series to find out what happens but the road to getting there is awful. This book falls in that category

I felt catfished listen to the audio that was partially narrated by Joe Arden (the only reason I bought the book). Joe barely narrates, her version of Knox sounded like a used car sales and idk if it was the writing or the female narrator that made me feel like a teenager girl wrote this which made the smut very cringy. It had a little plot which kept me going then the ending felt like the author got bored and said the end, very underwhelming.
