Le vieux châtelain d'Oléron est mort avant d'avoir pu vendre son château. Mais sa disparition n'a rien de vraiment naturel : il a été assassiné. Ce meurtre dans un château qu'on dit hanté ne peut qu'éveiller la curiosité de Sans Atout. Le jeune détective décide immédiatement de mener l'enquête et fait d'étranges découvertes. Mais qui s'ingénie à effrayer les hôtes de la vaste demeure ?

About the author

Pierre Boileau and Pierre Ayraud (aka Thomas Narcejac) were French authors who specialized in police stories. They collaborated as "Boileau-Narcejac," with plots from Boileau. Narcejac provided most of the atmosphere and characterisations in each novel.

Each of them were highly successful alone before beginning their work together. The Prix du Roman d'Aventures, one of the most important literary awards in France, is given each year to the author of the best example of detective fiction in the world. Boileau won it in 1938 for Le Repos de Bacchus . Narcejac received it for La Mort est du Voyage in 1948. They met at the 1948 awards dinner.

While most of their works stand alone, they also wrote the "Sans Atout" series for young readers.

Two of their novels, Celle qui n'était plus and D'entre les morts , were adapted into films (respectively, Les Diaboliques and Vertigo)

A pesar de intentar mantener la atención del lector con una metodología similar a la que encontramos en Sherlock Holmes (pasan cosas, pero la explicación llegará al final), no ha conseguido atraparme ni me ha mantenido enganchada. Además, noto cabos sueltos y no he acabado del todo satisfecha con la explicación del crimen.

la historia es muy buena, pero se me ha hecho un poco pesado de leer ya que, debido al vocabulario, me perdía algunas partes. también el hecho de que toda la trama se resolviera en la última pagina y no progresivamente me ha extrañado, no es que me haya molestado, pero lo hubiera preferido de otra forma.
sin embargo la historia es interesante y creo que se merece las tres estrellas
