Nina has always loved reading and writing and fondly remembers a childhood play she entitled Rags to Riches and Back Again. The theme was that love trumped money and even back then she made sure her heroine and hero got their happy ending. They were penniless and ragged but happy!
As she grew older Nina continued to spend most of her spare time with her head in a book but the writing did get put to one side in the whirl of life.
However the dream never quite went away - and eventually (following a university degree, meeting her very own real life hero, a stint as an accountant, a further stint as a recruitment consultant, many short stories and three children later), Nina is a real author whose fifth Mills&Boon book comes out in November.
Nina now lives with her husband and three children in Brighton, UK and loves the fact that she can work in her pyjamas (as long as she remembers to change in time for the school run)
A gorgeous Christmas story! I love Nina Milne's voice. Both characters in this story instantly grab you as likeable. So much so that, when I reached the heart warming end, I still wanted more Ethan and Ruby! This book will tug at your heart strings and leave you with a happy glow. Fabulous!
Wonderfully told story. Strong heroine and hero. I loved the charity aspect. And the backgrounds of the leads was treated with dignity and honesty. Ethan is obviously a decent guy, and for once (a rarity for a Harlequin romance) he wasn't a chauvinistic playboy. Ruby too was no wilting damsel in distress. Their sparring and their conversations (yes they actually conversed and communicated, another rarity!) made this relationship believable. Also since the story is set during Christmas, the descriptions of Caversham Hall and the ball and the Alps were enchanting.
Nice Christmassy story - H&H with childhood trauma, having to work through the issues. I usually like angsty type stories but for me personally this just fell a bit short of a 4-star rating. I don't want to say too much - spoilers are book killers. Secondary character Rafael Martinez gets his own story in May 2016, Harlequin Romance. I look forward to reading his story! This was my first Nina Milne and I really liked her writing style - my issues with the book are MY issues, not issues with her writing. I was hoping the book would turn in a slightly different direction.
This book was sort of disappointing!! I had high hopes for this book because it looked adorable but all I got was kind of a lackluster novel that never really shined. However, I enjoy her reason behind her tarnished public image of being a gold digger.
