For a linguistic work, it was actually quite enjoyable. The topic, of course, is still a devisive one and the author tackles this issue very well. Sometimes, however, it still gets quite abstract and main chapter topics sometimes overlap greatly.

I am a lover of linguistics and found this book to be well done. Even if you aren’t into the depths of linguistics, you can still enjoy this book. Glad this was an enjoyable read as it was for class. Language change is a fascinating topic and I have always enjoyed learning about the evolution of human language, but especially in English and in French.
