Thank you, Charli, for the copy of this angsty small town romance!! If you are a fan of Hallmark and/or Nicholas Sparks romance novels, I think you will like Ada and Lincoln’s story!
✨small town ✨second chance ✨hot little league coach ✨great side characters ✨THE LETTERS PLS
Ada is an accomplished lawyer in NYC. When her mother passes away, she is forced back to her hometown of Blue Haven to take care of the estate. Of course, who is waiting for her back in Blue Haven? Lincoln St. James, duh! He’s hot. He coaches little league. He has pined for her since the day she abruptly left town.
I did find some of the dialogue to be forced/too professional, but otherwise this was an enjoyable read! I hope Noah gets a book because I simply need to know about his happily ever after!!
"A Second Chance in Blue Haven" is a captivating tale that explores the universal themes of love, loss, and the power of embracing a new future. In this emotionally charged story, the author delves into the complexities of relationships and the transformative journey of its two main characters.
Ada Collins, portrayed as a strong and independent woman, finds her life drastically changed after the tragic loss of her mother. Forced to return to Blue Haven, a place she had long left behind, Ada unexpectedly crosses paths with her ex-boyfriend, Lincoln St. James. As their lives intertwine once again, Ada is faced with a mix of conflicting emotions.
The author skillfully captures Ada's internal struggle as she grapples with the unexpected proximity to Lincoln. Her initial surprise at encountering him after a decade is coupled with the realization that he has transformed into a more mature and physically appealing man. Ada's introspection leads her to question whether her attraction to Lincoln is merely a result of a vulnerable moment or if there are deeper reasons pulling her back to Blue Haven.
Lincoln St. James, haunted by the memory of Ada leaving without a word, seizes a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win her back. However, he soon discovers that the path to reclaiming Ada's heart is far from simple. The author deftly portrays Lincoln's internal struggle as he battles his own demons, including his strained relationship with his mother, and confronts the weight of their shared history.
As the story unfolds, the reader is taken on an emotional rollercoaster, witnessing the ebb and flow of Ada and Lincoln's relationship. The tug-of-war between their desire for each other and the challenges they face adds a layer of depth to the narrative. The author skillfully explores whether the two can overcome their past, their individual obstacles, and their conflicting emotions to find a second chance at love.
Through Ada and Lincoln's journey, "A Second Chance in Blue Haven" examines the power of letting go of the past and embracing the possibility of a new future. It beautifully portrays the complexities of human emotions and the resilience of the human spirit. The novel serves as a reminder that love, despite the obstacles and uncertainties, has the potential to heal wounds and bring about personal growth.
In conclusion, "A Second Chance in Blue Haven" is a compelling story that combines love, loss, and hope in a way that resonates with readers. With well-developed characters, a richly woven plot, and a thought-provoking exploration of emotional struggles, this book offers an engaging reading experience. It reminds us that even in the face of adversity, love can triumph, offering the chance for redemption and a brighter future.
I got A Second Chance in Blue Haven by Charli Cotner for free from BookSirens for a fair and honest review.
A Second Chance in Blue Haven by Charli Cotner in one way could be classed as a basic second chance romance set in a small town where in this case Ada who after breaking with her boyfriend Lincoln leaves the small town to only come back 10 years later for her mum's funeral.
Which gives us all the usual plot lines for a simple romance novel, however, for me Charli Cotner has written more of a women’s fiction novel than a romance, tes there are usual scenes you would expect from such a novel, with the sexual tension between Ada and Lincoln, throughout being well done.
There is even the usual issue 75% into the book that is in all romance novels, and while Will provides some chance of a love triangle this is more of an ego thing than anything else.
So what makes this novel have more depth to the story than what it could have been as a really successful fun Second chance romance novel, is that the depth of character development that Charli Cotner does in the novel.
This really makes Ada a fully developed character, with a past that really does have an effect on her actions in the novel. As she chooses between all her options, this is done through flashbacks that take you into the mind of the young girl who left Blue Haven to become a Lawyer.
The writer also makes the character of Lincoln Ada’s boyfriend whom she left , and has not spoken to since she left, someone who has a past and a character development which sometimes can be lacking in the romance genre for male leads.
Yes the story is based around Ada’s choices in the novel as she has more options but it is nice to see the male lead being given enough time to develop throughout the story which in my opinion made the novel a much better read.
The way I measure a good book is by how much I think about the characters and the story while I’m not reading… and I could not stop thinking about Ada and Linc ❤️ I really enjoyed how the present and their past memories were blended together to give more context and depth to the story; it truly felt like I was reliving their flash backs with them! I really enjoyed this book and how thoughtful the author was at tying every little detail together.
A Second Chance in Blue Haven by Charli Cotner is a good, and enjoyable steamy small town second chance romance read. The story has a great story line. The characters are great, and they have great chemistry. This story is a very entertaining page turning sweet steamy romance read. So well written! Charli combines so many emotions into a single story. Between the romance, spicy moments, heartbreaks and desires, I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it.
I enjoyed this story. I wish there would have been a little more at the end to show the whole family dynamic but it had a sweet ending. I also wish we could have seen a little more about Ada’s mom, both during Ada’s childhood and after. There were just some mentions but not any vivid flashbacks.

A Second Chance in Blue Haven was my first read from this author - and it didn't let me down in the least!
This book was edited to a great standard, and I really loved the vibes of this one. The characters are so fully thought out, and it felt thoroughly immersive. The only issue that I had with A Second Chance in Blue Haven was the pacing. Although it starts out quite nicely with the perfect amount of speed, towards the end it seems to get a bit murkier.
The formatting is really nice too, especially with texts being formatted like actual texts (complete with bubbles!), but the chapter headers are bright white for seemingly no real reason, and they take up a huge chunk of space. It's especially jarring on a black background which is how I read, but the hearts are a nice touch.

This book is seriously amazing! It is spicy, heartbreaking, thrilling and the most beautiful ending. I couldn’t put this book down. I cannot wait for further books from Charli!

Three descriptive words for this book. Charli did an amazing job of intertwining so many emotions into one book - I simply couldn’t stop reading it because I had to know what happened next in Lincoln + Ava’s story. When I look for books to read, I search for ones that I know I will get lost in, the ones that make me feel like I am living the book in real life, and “A Second Chance In Blue Haven” did exactly that, it let me escape reality. It was one of those books where I felt exhausted at the end of the day reading it because I was so invested in the characters' stories (which is my favorite kind of book)!!
Do yourself a favor and add this to your TBR pile + maybe even put it at the top, because it is THAT GOOD!!

I really, really wanted to love this book. Second-chance romance is probably my favorite trope, but I just couldn't fully connect with the story. Even though I liked Lincoln's character, the gist of Ada's was difficult to grasp. The pace was a little too chaotic for me, and the language used for dialogue was very confusing to me. It was always either too formal or too casual, and sometimes didn't make a lot of sense. e.g. "You are glued to me as we fill this out together." On several occasions, the use of formal language in dialogue made it difficultt to follow, e.g. “Why have I only heard about this now? Why did you not inform me about this in the office?” instead of "Why am I only hearing about this now? Why didn't you tell me about this at the office?" I did appreciate the overall plot of the story, but unfortunately couldn't connect with the characters or the overall story.
NOTE: ARC received in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This book was definitely not what I expected (in a good way) and once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Had me in tears towards the end because I felt like I could relate. Dying for more!
I read this novel as it was on Kindle Unlimited and I found Charli on Bookstagram and instantly thought that her book would be something that I would enjoy. Charli’s writing style is definitely one of my favorites. She is such a thorough writer, and focuses greatly on character building.
This novel is a great second chance novel. The main characters in this are Ada and Lincoln. Ada works as a partner at a law firm in NY. Ada is very smart, independent, and what would be considered a workaholic. Due to her career and drive to succeed Ada steers clear of lasting relationships but does have one night stands. Ada learns of her mother’s death and returns to her hometown of Blue Haven where she left her former boyfriend whom she loved because she was told that she was not good enough for him. Ada was estranged from her mother, yet returns home to deal with the aftermath of her mother’s death.
Lincoln is Ada’s former love, and is still residing in Blue Haven. Lincoln the reader learns was close to Ada’s mother Mrs. Collins. Lincoln knows that Ada’s return to town is eminent and he does not know how he will cope or deal with that. It is quickly obvious that Lincoln’s feelings for Ada are not gone.
This book takes you on a journey of love, loss, grief, overcoming emotions, learning to forgive, and also second chances. I really enjoyed this novel and feel like more people should read this. There is so much to enjoy in this novel, and great life lessons that one can pick up from this novel. There are some spicy moments as well. The books also goes between the present and past through memories, and flashes of Ada and Lincoln’s time together before.
A Second Chance In Blue Haven is a second chance, small town romance following Ada & Lincoln’s love story. Ada is a successful lawyer living in New York. After getting a call from her brother that their mother has unexpected passed away, Ada is forced to return to her hometown of Blue Haven. Unfortunately she didn’t have the best childhood & having to return to her hometown brings a lot of bad memories & anxiety. Not to mention the chance of running into her ex-boyfriend, Lincoln St. James…
Lincoln has a few of his own personal struggles but one of the biggest is being hung up on Ava, even a decade after she left town. Knowing she’s back in town, he’s going to do whatever he can to get her back. Can they really move on from the past & find happiness again?
This was a really sweet second chance romance! While I liked the characters, I didn’t really connect with them. But overall I did enjoy their story. It definitely deals with some heavy topics including loss so be sure to check trigger warnings! Thank you Charli for sending me a copy of your book & allowing me to review!
It's been a long time since Ada and Lincoln were in the same small town but one phone call to one will change the last decade all at once. The last thing Ada wanted was to return from New York to her hometown and the boy she left behind.
Lincoln is still in Blue Haven working in his dad's company but he has never forgotten his first love, Ada. Can the past be fixed or will he forever lose the one he loves?
I love second-chance romances but I am afraid I just didn't love this story. Ada and Lincoln were both great characters but the flow of the story was so too slow for me. I am not a fan of big chunks of black story dialogue, I understand it is telling a story but it's not my favourite style.
The author definitely has a way with words and the chemistry between the two was undeniable. The first half of the book was very slow in the reconnecting of these two past loves. I could just be impatient for the good bits so it's not really a reflection of the author's writing but in myself.

A Second Chance in Blue Haven is the first book from Charli Cotner that I have reaad. She is becoming one of my favorite authors. This story was so much more than just a contemporary romance. It involves second chances, mother in law problems, social status, and self esteem issues. Quite steamy too. Ada, at first, comes across as a weak teenager who runs from her problems. However, as she is shown as an adult she comes across as a strong, independent, and loving woman. She is a great role model. I highly recommend this book to all romance readers.

This was an amazing book! It was such a heartwarming story about love and loss. I am usually not a massive fan of second-chance romances, but this one really drew me in. The characters were well-written, and I felt I was truly there in the story!
Some of the dialogue did seem very formal in some places and casual in others, which threw me every once in a while, but all in all, it was a great book, and I am so grateful that I was given a copy!
Great book! This book was well written and drew me in to each character. The story was well thought out and full of emotions. I finished the book very quickly and can’t wait for this authors next book!
