Patsy Cline has been the butt of a number of family jokes based on my grandmothers love for her songs, and many a visit to her home included the song 'Crazy' being played on repeat. Truthfully, it's the only song of hers that I can recall ever hearing!

So based off this song and my grandmothers love for her I thought it was time to learn more about Patsy. And wow what a sad story! I didn't know that she had died so young, and had been ripped off so severely by the record labels who had produced her songs.

This does have that formulaic biography feel about it, where we get discographies instead of any real content, but it did do the job to satisfy my curiosity about this singer.

I enjoyed reading about Patsy Cline's life, but it could've been written better. This reads like it was written by a super fan. I learned what I set out to... but also read way more words than I needed to.

I have always loved Patsy Cline's songs and have many wonderful memories of my sister and I singing "Walking After Midnight" while traveling across country in our parent's camper late at night. I wished this biography could bring up some of those memories but the author never quite fleshed out Patsy for me. I learned quite a bit about the genesis of several of her hits though they never seem to be outlined in a way that was memorable or endearing.

I was quite surprised by Patsy bawdiness and her outright "unladylike" behavior in which she oftentimes would talk like a sailor with the guys. Her use of the nickname, "hoss" for both males and females alike somewhat got on my nerves. I had wished that I got more of a sense of her kindness and being generous to those less fortunate, references to this outlined in the book were simply stories with no heart. All in all this book was somewhat of a disappointment.
