The book,"I Remember Walter payton" by Mike Towle is very appealing to me and I recommend it to my friends because it gives a lot of information on Walter Payton and it tells you some of the things you never knew about him. It tells you how funny he was and that we loved kids, for example during practice he would grab a kid and put him over his head and run down to the field while all the other players were getting a drink. He was very religious and went to church and talked about how Jesus was his lord and savior.

In Paytons career, he set a lot of records. He rushed for a National Football League record of 16,726 yards. In 1985 he helped lead the Bears to a Super Bowl victory. Over the years he made himself known as one of the sports world's most popular and personable role models. Walter's nickname is "sweetness", because he was a good guy and was very nice to others. Walter had a successful life and a great career by doing a lot of good things and going to church, and having fun with kids.

Payton was a very rich person and he got pretty much what ever he wanted. He loved fast cars and when he broke a rushing record, a car dealership got him a Lamborghini for free. He loved that car and he always loved to ride in it. Sometimes he would be going to fast and get pulled over for speeding. In football, Walter was a very tough man. He always would play through an injury and look at the injury after the game. He would play through bruised knees, the flu, etc. He really had a passion for the game. Before they went to the Super Bowl, the Bears sang "Super Bowl Shuffle". Walter has the first line in that song and they went on and won the Super Bowl.

After he retired, he found out he had cancer. He was very sad to hear the news. Then in early November, millions mourned when they found out that Walter Payton had passed away. Payton was beloved by his teammates, idolized by his fans, and turing the heart of the Windy City with a graciousness that was complemented by a spirit of humility and a wonderful sense of humor. Walter Payton was one of the best running backs ever to live. Nobody will ever forget "sweetness".

When reading this book I both liked and dislike things on how it was written, and how it was set up. In this book I felt that Towle did a good job of picking the quotes, and did a very good job of showing how well respected Payton was, and how great of a football player Payton was. I liked how Towle took quotes from all different people in Payton's life, and from people of all different ages who watched and admired Payton's game and who Payton was off the field. I feel that Towle could have enhanced the book by adding more of his thoughts and his incite on what he saw and how he felt about Walter Payton as a football player and a person. Other than that I felt Towle did a good job of writing this book, and ordering this book. Finally, I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested the history of football and the NFL because it gives you a very good basis of information on one of the games greatest running backs.
