An interesting look at Lewis and Tolkien's worlds, but less politics than you might expect. Basically just an illustration of their cynicism with respect to the possibility of government doing anybody any good.

A survey of Lewis and Tolkien's writings, with a focus on their fictional works, this book examines how the two's experiences shaped the themes and motifs in their works. In particular, it looks at their attitude towards politic, as reflected in their writings.

I actually really enjoyed this. It was interesting to see how a person’s life can bleed into their work even in fantasy novels. I’m kind of toying with the idea of writing my diss on fantasy novels so this was helpful in that sense.
