Eartha Mae Kitt was an American actress, singer, and cabaret star. She was perhaps best known for her 1953 Christmas song "Santa Baby". Orson Welles once called her the "most exciting woman in the world." She took over the role of Catwoman for the third season of the 1960s Batman television series, replacing Julie Newmar, who was unavailable for the final season.
I loved this from beginning to start .... just finished it, on ipod.
What a kindred spirit, i just loved everything she said; from filling in every moment with stretching, thought, exploring; to love of animals, nature, food sex; to just being able to be totally fulfilled being alone.
Sometimes, as with writing, being alone is inspirational and ecstacy; however being oneself with other selves is just as much the message of this book.
I loved it, i just loved it; and wow Eartha Mae what a story <3, what a career. I found this book looking for songs that a recently died friend sang; but this is the sort of book i want to leave once my time is done.
Hugs Eartha; everyone knows you're fabulous forever xx
This was amazing. I love Eartha Kitt, I've been a fan of her since I was a teenager. I recently found out that she wrote quite a few memoirs and this book. I got a physical copy of this one, and then I found out they also made an abridged audiobook with Eartha doing the narration. Unfortunately, the audiobook is very out of print at this point. But I just HAD to hear it, so I found a set of the cds on Amazon. Kind of pricey at $30 for 3 1/2 hours of content, but I know I'll listen to it many more times, so it's well worth my money! I loved it so so so much. I've watched hours of different interviews she's done, but this was next level for me. She's got a beautiful, transfixing voice. Hearing her retell some of the stories I've read in her memoir was fantastic, and then just her entire take on how to live your life is beautiful. Eartha passed away in 2008, but sooo much of what she talked about in this book has been trending for the past few years. She was so ahead of her time. From raising chickens herself and having a garden in Beverly hills, to composting, to yoga, olive oil, not drinking, eating clean, etc etc ~ she was doing all of this light years before any of us. She was an incredible lady, I admire her more and more with every new tidbit I learn about her, and I definitely look forward to reading my physical copy of this and the book that her daughter wrote.
Eartha Kitt was an amazing, talented, and unique celebrity.
Her advice about how to live your life clearly worked superbly for her, but not everyone can do what she did, obviously. Her mental & physical health advice is sometimes the same stuff you get from your physician, and sometimes the specialized advice for people who want to be Absolutely Fabulous. I'm not sure Ms. Kitt would differentiate, but for me, it detracted from the usefulness of the book.
If you hare looking for a memoir or biography, the tips on how to use Ms. Kitt's life as a model for your own will be irritating.

This book turned out to be deeper than I expected it to be. Kitt delivers a conversational dose of wisdom gleaned through years of hard work and struggle. It's well-written and tells the occasional, relevant story, sans name-dropping. Her advice, which she admits she can only attest works/worked for her, is mostly common sense but contains a spiritual, earth-centric depth. One word: authentic.
I randomly thought of Eartha Kitt one day and decided to do some research on her I stumbled upon this book, I consider it a quick read. It was an amazing read for me, she gave me quite an expansion on my perspective and how I go about life now. I enjoyed this is in my top 10 recommendations.
Earths Kitt’s guide to staying fit and healthy (physically and mentally) as one ages. Divided into nine chapters including Bend, Stretch, and Rest, each chapter gives a exercise and an inspirational message with personal experiences, moments, and reflections added throughout.
This was an excellent read. Ms. Kitt gave great life examples and kept me engaged with ideas on how to live a better life. I have already recommended the book to several friends.
Will write more later and include Kitt's quotes. She's a character. Puurrrrrrr.....no one does it like her. I love her song "I want to be evil." There are truly days when I can't relate to anything more than that one. :D. Love Uska Dara too! I highly recommend people check out her YouTube vids of old performances. What a performer and inspiration, like the book. Her tunes mentioned above are so damn tongue-in-cheek terrific that they'll raise your mood.
Eartha Kitt gives great advice about how to live a long healthy and beautiful life. It's with great sadness that I learned on 12/25 that she died. I was planning to go see her live in San Francisco in May, 2009.
Enjoyed reading. I bought this book right before she passed away and didn't have an opportunity to read until last month. She was so positive and vibrant. It was odd reading it after she passed away because it's like you know something that she doesn't.
Madame Kitt was a force to be reckoned with, and this book was a delight. She has a way about her that makes you wish she was your beloved great aunt, and her advice is sound.
