After our run in at the ER, I never expected to see the sexy yet frustrating single dad, Cash Fowler, standing in my hallway, ready to renovate my house.
I have no doubt about his company’s capabilities, but I’m not sure I can survive seeing this man working in my home, day after day.
He’s like my own personal catnip. He’s drool worthy when he uses his power tools, and melts my ovaries when he’s with his daughter. He draws me in like a magnet.
But he’s no good for me. My nursing career has taken off and my dreams are almost at my fingertips… So why do my fingertips want to know what those chiseled abs feel like instead?
Cash
Imagine my shock when I stumble on the auburn beauty with violet streaks in her hair, staring me down like I have no right to be in her presence.
There’s no way my buddy didn’t know exactly who Chayse was when he signed on the line to fix her house.
She’s a damn fine nurse who doesn’t take my shit and there’s nothing sexier than watching her handle power tools. I need to focus on my daughter and growing my business, not getting lost in this woman.
Only problem is, she’s like a fire you can’t help but watch burn. Hopefully she doesn’t take me down with her flames.
Hi, I'm Jay Fields and I'm a reader turned writer. I've always loved books, but about 5 years ago I read my first romance book and I've been hooked ever since.
I live in a small town with my husband, three kiddos, and two fur babies. I work full time, so my world is a constant state of organized chaos!
So far, I write small town romance novels and I absolutely love them. Creating a fictional world full of people who genuinely care for each other hits me in me right in my feels.
I love a good side character, so be prepared to not only fall in love with the main characters, but enjoy meeting everyone who makes them who they are!
I hope you love my first book and stick around on this wild journey with me!
Rescue Renovations grabbed me from the start. I struggled to put it down and couldn't wait to pick it up again. One of my favorite things in a book is a strong female lead...and Chayse exceeded my expectations. She is strong, independent, and caring in a very sexy package. The supporting cast of characters make up a great family that I am excited to read more about in future books.
Spice is one of the reasons why I chose to read this, and the spicey scenes did not disappoint. They were well executed and super hot!! I would not have been upset with a few more :)
I would like more details about this town of Sparrow Falls!
This was a very lighthearted book that had me swooning from beginning to end.
Cash has taken his daughter to one of his worksites where the ends up getting hurt which results in a trip to the ER. As a single parent, Chase is extremely protective of Penny and her getting injured just further brings that side of him out. When time seems to be moving much to slowly in terms of her care a the hospital, Chase takes it out on the nurse handling Penny's injury which results in him meeting Chayse- the charge nurse on the floor. Despite the instant attraction between the two of them, it is difficult for Cash to let anyone in- Penny's mom wasn't ready to be a mom yet so he is extremely cautious, and rightfully so.
Chayse isn't your regular nurse though- she loves to renovate houses on the side and it seems that fate has more than one way of sticking these two together. After some sneaky maneuvers by some friends, Chayse has hired Cash for her latest project- without knowing that the company she has called is Cash's. Will these two be able to work on this project together with their feelings intact, or will their growing attraction lead them both to throw caution to the wind to see if something great comes from it?
What I really loved about this story is the fact that the emotional wellbeing of Penny was always at the forefront of both Cash and Chayse's mind. As someone who has dated someone with a child, I always find it respectable and attractive to see the dad have reservations when bringing someone new into their lives- you never know what could happen and if something were to ever go south, the emotional recovery for a child is much more difficult for an adult since they don't always necessarily understand what has happened. For that reason it is why that I can't fault Cash for his reaction to Chayse's news about a new job offer when it comes up. Chayse does the right thing by including Cash in on the discussion and what that could mean for their future, but Cash in the beginning only looks at it as more damage that may never be undone since Penny gets along so well with Chayse. Having lived through a situation very similar to this, I really felt all of the emotions from both parties all over again- even emotions that I may not have felt when I was going through it. It was nice to see everything laid out and the eventual HEA that came along with it since that is not always the case in these situations.
Great, cute, quick read that will pull at your heartstrings from start to finish. I can't wait to see what comes next in this interconnected series.
OMG I feel like Ive been put through the washing cycle and hung out to dry. This story is o e heck of a fantastic rollercoaster ride you won’t forget in a hurry.
Jay Fields has captured the emotions of each and every character beautifully.
Not only do we have a FMC and a MMC but we also have a host of family and friends that have their own parts to play, and they are absolutely spellbindingly perfect.
One thing I think Jay Fields has done exceptionally well was the role of Penny. Many people include children but don’t embrace the role of the child, sometimes approaching it from an adult point of view. Jay Fields has introduced Penny, a small child who acts like a child and talks like one. I know it probably sounds such a little thing, but being true to a character adds those finishing touches that make a great story that much better.
Cash is a total alpha male, a protector.he’s a strong character raising his child alone. His love for Penny is all encompassing and beautiful to watch. They say it takes a village to raise a child and this story portrays this so well. The family members all give something to Penny’s life.
My heart broke that Cash was subconsciously allowing the pain of his past to impact his present and when he screwed up I really wanted to reach through the pages and slap some sense into him.
But it was Cash’s emotions that floored me. The pain and fear was so palpable, it had so much power and depth my heart aches for him, my tears flowed unabashedly. This is what I love, authors who can portray such pain and beauty in a way that you absorb their emotions too.
Chayse is a beautiful character. Her honesty and openness shines like the brightest star on the darkest of nights.
In my opinion Chayse’s character is a perfect example of how our lives change. We can be on one road, so sure of what we want to accomplish and then life smacks you upside the head and your priorities alter, your needs change, and that’s okay because life isn’t a straight line, it’s a long of winding paths taking us in different directions.
I love the interactions between Chayse and her family. It’s beautiful and comforting. She’s such a strong and caring person. You just want to jump in and become her friend. If we all had someone like Chayse as our friend the world would be a better place.
I cannot believe this is the first book Jay Fields has written. It has everything you need to envelope yourself in this beautiful, magical world. To walk alongside these stunning characters and have a deep seated and vested interest in their HEA’s
Jay Fields is definitely an author I will be avidly watching.
Can’t recommend highly enough. 20 million star review
This was a fun, enjoyable read with some absolutely epic characters.
Cash and Chayse were great and fit really well together but my heart was stolen by Princess Penny. She was the sweetest little girl and so loving that it made me want to crawl into the book pages and cuddle her. Landon, Reid, and the rest of the Fowler/Wilson family were great side characters to and it created such a lovely found family vibe throughout the whole book.
This was definitely a fastburn story but it didn’t feel like unbelievable insta-love, it was just rather sweet and like their pieces fell together quickly. There was some delicious dirty-talk and spice but it didn’t take away from the overall plot and there were several tender moments to offset that as well.
The only issue I really had with it was that occasionally I couldn’t tell who was speaking during group conversations as not every reply had a name attached to it so you just sort of had to work out everyone’s voices. That only happened a few times though and didn’t really take away from the whole all that much.
Overall, this was a really sweet read with great characters and was the perfect book for me to hunker down with on a lazy afternoon. I can’t wait to read the next books and see who the lovely Wilson sisters end up with!
Rescue Renovations celebrates love in all forms. Yes, we see the love building between Chayse and Cash which was spicy and enticing. But we also see the love for Cash’s daughter Penny, love between siblings, best friends, and parents. Jay Fields has done an amazing job of drawing us into their world, and I felt their emotional ups and downs with them. I want to grab a beer and hang out with Chayse in her hot tub!
This is an excellent book for first time author, Jay Fields. She knocked it out of the park with this one! I cannot wait to read more about the Wilson sisters and their upcoming adventures.
I have received an ARC copy of this book. The opinions stated here are my own.
This is her debut novel, and it was a novel I will not soon forget! Written in dual POV, it followed an ER nurse, Chayse, and a contractor, Cash. Cash is a single dad and Chayse is focused on her career and doesn’t need a relationship. Perfect recipe, right?! The side characters really enhance this story-Penny, Lando, Reid….YES!! All characters are very relatable and are written in a way that you feel like you know them and are part of their group. The events are realistic and the tension between the two MCs is great! I loved the banter back and forth and really enjoyed how all my feelings were engaged over the course of the book. I found myself hiding under the covers so no one would find me reading late into the night! This is definitely a great rom-com book to add to your TBR and an author to make sure you follow! I know there will be more great things coming from her!
Oh. My. Goodness. You won't want to miss one moment of this heartfelt and heart-warming single dad romance. It will keep you riveted from the beginning until the end. The push and pull between Chayse & Cash is agonizingly intense, yet delicious. I felt all of their emotions; the happiness, the heartache, the fear excitement, the longing and their love for each other. Jay Fields came out swinging with her debut novel. I. CAN’T. WAIT. for her next book!!
When I tell you the write was top notch I mean it! When I tell you the storyline and the love the MMC had for his daughter was unmatched? I mean it! I want to reread already!
The chemistry between the main characters had me feeling all the emotions!!
Well when a precocious 5 yr old gets hurt and sits in the er a bit too long and overprotective Daddy gets a bit upset and snaps who do you think puts him in his place none other than the tall tattooed beauty of a head nurse. You can just imagine where it goes from there, but what a great journey it is. You will want to laugh, cry, and maybe take a junk shot or two but it's worth the journey.
BOOK REVIEW: Rescue Renovations By @jayfieldsauthor FIVE STARS: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Oh my gosh let me start with, I absolutely loved Cash and Chayse and how neither of them wanted a relationship for their own reasons. I also really enjoyed reading not only a single dad romance, but also a badass nurse! I really enjoyed the whole family dynamic throughout all the characters. I seriously loved Landon. I loved how Chayse got Penny to relax with markers and her tattoos! But my gosh the way Cash and Chayse both just had a easy connection was incredible. But dang did he work hard for her at the end! Loved that!
4.5 stars This is a wonderful debut novel from Jay Fields and a great start to the Sparrow Falls series. Cash and Chayse’s meet cute is just…wow! He is an arse and she doesn’t hesitate in putting him in his place! And that’s kind of a theme for these two – Cash is a jerk and Chayse hands him his arse. The thing is though that Cash is a wonderful guy, a great friend and a caring single Dad to Penny. But he lets fear for his loved ones and past scars rule his actions sometimes and he gets all “growly grumpy Daddy bear” as sweet almost 5 year old Penny puts it. Though in his favour, once he realises or its pointed out to him that he was wrong, he apologises and makes amends. And he is pretty good at the small grand gestures! I loved the relationship that they developed which was respectful and considerate of the independent and busy lives that they had led before meeting each other. They fit together and didn’t demand more than the other could give. It doesn’t hurt that Cash and Chayse are positively steamy together as well! I found Penny well written and she played an appropriately significant part in their story. Jay Fields established a great group of loving friends and family around Cash and Chayse that sets up well for exciting stories to come for Chayse’s sisters.
*I'm gonna try my best to have no spoilers in this but 🤣 beware there might be some*
Hot DADDY Cash 🤤🤤🤤 Putting his daughter above all else? HOT! A boss who owns his own business? HOT! There's nothing bad to say about him. 😒 Don't you dare fight me on his trauma response mkay? I think he's 100% understandable in what he did and how he reacted. STILL LOVE THAT MAN WITH MY WHOLE HEART AND SOUL!
Hot MOMMY Chayse 🤤🤤🤤 AGAIN loving that WOMAN! A hot independent woman who doesn't need a guy to do anything? I STAN THAT! A powerful lead that will show Penny how it's done!
I loveeeeeed the story build, the character builds, the love between the characters, the relationships, and honestly in all I loved the world building in this first book.
I cried. I did. Just the way Jay was able to pull EVERY emotion out of me. I need more of her writing and I'll never have enough!
This is my first read from this author, and I'm hooked! I can't wait to read all the books in the series. It's a quick, easy read. It had me laughing out loud and crying tears at various points. I loved how the characters felt so real and could feel their connection come off the pages. I can't wait to read the next book!
This is Jay Fields' debut novel and OMG I am obsessed!
Cash is a hot as sin, dirty talking single dad who works as a contractor. Like seriously, does it get much better than that?? And Penny is just the absolute cutest little ball of energy throughout the entire book, even when she's injured. Chayse is such a self-assured and strong willed woman & I'm glad that she put Cash in his place when he was about to be dumb.
Don't even get me started on all of the side characters, okay?? They're incredible & I can't wait to read the rest of the series as they come out! I know the next book in the series follows one of Chayse's sisters but omg I NEED Landon & Reid's book. It's not even a want at this point, it's a full on need.
And as for the plot?! I absolutely loved it! There's a little bit of miscommunication / lack of communication that leads to a major event BUT Chayse's reaming really made it worth it in my opinion. It was a nice breath of fresh air since that's not what typically happens at that moment in a lot of the romance books I've read so far.
Great book. I loved all the characters. I love Penny she is adorable. She is a 4 year old little dare devil and that is how this book started with her getting hurt and having to go to the ER. She first met Landon the nurse and he was very caring towards her. Cash who is Penny’s father is a single dad. Her mom keeps in touch but she was a care free spirit so she wasn’t ready to be a mom. Cash was very protective over his daughter. When they were at the hospital and it was taking a long time he was very grumpy. So Landon got her all situated and then that is when Chayse came in to the room and she got an earful from Cash. She let him finish and then put him in his place. Chayse was the ER head nurse so she was there a lot. She also loved to restore old houses. She bought a craftsman home that was taking too long to fix up. It turns out Cash is a contractor so while he and Landon were talking it came up. Landon told him he had a friend who needed help but didn’t tell him who so he gave him a business card and that is how this all started. Landon could see the connection between Cash and Chayse. His business partner took the initial meeting for the pricing of the renovations. He put 2 and 2 together because Cash mentioned her and she stood out with her hair and tattoos. He didn’t tell him that this was her house so when he went there he let himself in with the key because no one was supposed to be home and while he was checking out the upstairs they scared each other as she was coming out of the bathroom. She kept avoiding Cash because she was feeling things for him but didn’t want a relationship. Landon became good friends with Cash and Reid and basically set the 2 up at a baseball game. Neither one new the other would be there. After they went out to dinner as a group and that was history they couldn’t stay away from each other. They had a lot of ups and downs and Cash was being an idiot. I love how the book ended. I don’t want to give too much away. But this was great great book.
Cash Fowler and his adorable daughter, Penny, run into the beautiful charge nurse, Chayse and her best friend, Landon when Penny got hurt. Cash started things off on the wrong foot. Who wouldn’t be anxious when their little girl was in pain? Cash also could not resist noticing how beautiful Chayse is. Penny also took an instant liking to Chayse and Landon and they to her. Cash does not want to bring anyone in their lives that he is not 100% sure about. He cannot have Penny be hurt because the relationship didn’t work out.
Everything was working out. Everybody has melded into a family of sorts, but Cash was still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Chayse being great at what she does was getting job offers from other hospitals. Though Chayse knew any change now would include a discussion with Cash, Cash did not get the message. He pushed her away in hopes of pushing her to her dreams. Wrong move, lover boy. Will these two get it together and talk to each other before assuming?
I always love a story with kids prominent in the storyline. Penny was the bestest little girl and was the light of Cash's life. There is so much in this story to build on. I am not sure who the next book in the series will focus on. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more about this town.
This is book 1 in the Sparrow Falls series and I absolutely loved it!! It has everything a book needs, from some spicy scenes, heartache, drama, an alpha male groveling and the sassy female determined to be independent and accomplish all her dreams\goals. There were alot of side characters that helped enhance the book, from Sweet little sassy Penny, to Reid and Landon (the best friends) and of course Cash and Chayse's family members. I know the book was about Cash and Chayse but we got a glimpse at everyone else's personalities and they were awesome... I recommend getting comfy and getting lost in this book...it was worth the read!!!
I love this town. Also I love the little girl, she was written so well. I couldn't put this book down. I can't wait to read the others. The chemistry was great and it was well written
Chayse and Cash's story is so sweet. They had misunderstandings, but in the end worked through it all. The epilogue had me tearing up a little too. Such a sweet and well written book. 🖤
This is a sweet sweet story which does have tumultuous parts. I struggled with the character’s names (Chayse and Cash), which totally confused me throughout, but that’s just my brain lol. It’s a beautiful story, which was strengthened by Landon and Penny, and everyone else😂. It is sweet, funny, angsty and sizzling.
Fast burn read very well written the characters are betrayed so I well Cash is a builder and the total Alpha male who’s a single dad who’s daughter is Penny his a protector and provider He meets Chayse who’s a sassy nurse and his about to renovate her home she finds him sexy as hell but needs to focus on her career Would definitely recommend this book
Cash is a builder, single dad of a super cute little girl named Penny. When she gets hurt on one of his work sites, he has to take her to the ER.
Chayse is a nurse in the ER. When she runs into a grumpy single dad she refuses to give into the steamy thoughts in her head. She knows she should focus on her career and rebuilding her house.
When her friend gives her the number for chases business, she unknowingly hires him to help her work on her fixer upper. The more Cash works on Chayse’s house, the more feelings come to the surface.
Will they both give into their feelings or refuse to accept what makes them happy?
This is a spicy romance and I absolutely love it!! It’s written in dual POV which I loved. If you wear scrubs, you absolutely have to give this one a try!
I may have started with the other series that Jay has written in this town, so I kinda know who is with who already. But that doesnt take anything away from this book! Also i have just realised this was her Debut!
We follow a workaholic and fiercly independent head nurse Chayse, She is a career gal and on the side loves to flip houses, but when work becomes the main focus her building site she calls home is put on the back burner.
She already hates that, and having her sassy best friend Landon pointing it out, along with some other hard truths, doesnt help. Whilst on shift in the ER, we meet Cash, a single dad who works his ass off in his business he shares with his best friend to carry on doing what he loves, whilst raising an adorale little Penelope - who is quiet accident prone!!
After a not so friendly meeting Chayse and Cash get off on the wrong foot.... even though they seem to have eyes for one another. So who better to interfere with this than Our sassy Bestie Landon.
Our main characters, fairly go through the emotions, its a very sweet read, fast paced and spicy! It tugs on the heart strings when fears are hidden and insecurities play a big part in this read. But I think it also highlights a very common fact, if you are career based and have your goal in mind, sometimes you have to realise work should never come before life. I think that is a lesson for everyone, including our workaholics nurse.
I adore the banter from Landon and how Penny seems to have every single person wrapped round her finger!
Gave the book more of a 3.5 ⭐️ rating. In the copy I had, there were quite a few spelling and grammar issues, and i could tell this was one of her first novels. The dialog in the beginning of the book was very repetitive instead of a fluid "normal" conversation. As the book went on, it seemed to get better.
The biggest thing I thought this novel had going for it was that at no point did you hate a character, nor was there an antagonist. I got upset at Cash but never disliked him. What he did was what he thought was right in protecting himself and Penny.
Overall, if someone was looking for a short romance novel, this might be one that I might recommend, but not one I would boast about. Still a good story.
This book pulled me in from the beginning! I absolutely love a single parent romance!
There was so much to love about this book! Chase and her sisters remind me of my mom and aunts, they’re the only daughters of a mechanic who know their way around tools. I love seeing things from my life in a romance, make sit hit different!
I fell in love with every single character and this world that Jay Fields built! I’m definitely reading every book in this series!
Chayse and Cash are perfect together and I’m glad this rescue renovation turned into a happily ever ever!
the book is general is okay i think, but there seems to be quite a number of inner monologue that is really mundane.
additionally, some things just felt really repetitive. for example, the big fight the hero and heroine had where she broke up with him. then she went on to recount everything in the fight to her sisters. to be honest, i felt it's really redundant when it could have end with one sentence where she can just said she tell her sisters the whole story about the fight, fullstop. why add on so many words that the book doesn't require?
Single dad not looking for love until he runs into Chayse in the Emergency Room. Chayse is for sure not looking for love either but she couldn’t help to love Cash and Penny. Sweet story with a stubborn little girl.
This book was so fun! Chayse & Cash are fire together. Their bffs & families are such rich secondary characters. Cash’s daughter Penny is so sweet & a good driving force to his motives & actions. Chaise’s sisters & bestie are great “girl power” supporters. I loved how Cash went all grumpy daddy bear & could acknowledge he was being a dick. But making it up to Chayse was fire!! I really enjoyed this story & would love to read more of the series.
