Dr. Turner Brooks is instantly taken by Annabelle when she comes to dinner at his parents house. After he asks her out and she turns him down he becomes even more determined to get her to take a chance on him. Annabelle has lost a lot in her short life, though, and she doesn't want to get close to anyone. But when Turner keeps popping up in her life she finally loses the battle and gives him a shot.
This was a fun little story and I enjoyed Turner and the dates he planned which were so out there and crazy. After I read Bender I got really excited for Turner's story because I could just tell that he would be a great Hero to read about. I wasn't wrong about Turner but the overall story was disappointing to me. It was shorter than I expected and just not enough story.
Turner was a great character but I struggled with Annabelle. She came off as a scared girl at first, but still an okay character. Then she seemed really prudish and uptight with her whole "I don't date" thing, which is something that is fine and I like when heroine's don't just fall for the Hero without making them work for it. But the way it played with Annabelle was stiff and made me dislike her character. After that I just never liked her and couldn't connect with her.
The pace of the story went a little fast and it seemed like the relationship with Annabelle and Turner just happened out of no where. I wanted more of a development for their relationship and without it I couldn't feel the chemistry between them. The smexy level was way down in this one, which is definitely something I was not expecting after reading Bender. Turner and Annabelle weren't even together until later in the book so I was getting bored while waiting for them to get their shit together.
Overall, this was just an okay story and I was left wanting a lot more. The most enjoyable parts of the book were Turner's dates but the rest I couldn't get into. I will most likely read the next book in the series but I'm keeping my expectation lower than they were for this one.
So I Googled the release date. It should be coming in July 2014. So excited. I've been waiting for forever for Bender to come out. I just finished it. It surpassed my expectations. I loved it and after getting a glimpse of what was going on between Turner and Anna, next month can't come fast enough!
WHERE IS THIS BOOK?! It was supposed to be released MONTHS ago! ?/??/???? 1/20/2015 9/24/2014
》》》8/4/2015 After months of continuously checking release dates, Facebook updates, and everyone else's comments-I quit. I've read Bender twice ( after my original read) to refresh myself before a release date, and each time I'm disappointed. Another book has been released, and I honestly don't think this series will see a sequel or a full completion. If it somehow is complete, years down the road, I might come back to it. Goodluck to everyone sticking with Stacey Borel and this journey!
This book is being released on the 25th of September 2014. Not sure if that's USA only but hoping it's uk to ...….…...............................................................
Wrote 27 sept 2014 This was meant to be released but nothing yet. I messaged stacy on Facebook to see what is happening but nothing back yet. It's not good to tell your fans that a book is being released and it not being done. Even if it is not on time she can at least let her fans know.
12 January 2015 Book was meant to be released this January 2015 and stacy has wrote to her fans on her Facebook stating that she feels hitchhiker is more on her mind and can be wrote more than slider and doesn't want to do slider half ass. What's everyone thinking?
This is not a review. But my fellow reader in my book club posted this and I thought I'd share with you all. This is my first picture post, so I'm not perfect at it...sorry if the size isn't large enough but here is the book cover and synopsis.
I've been anticipating the release of this book for awhile now. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, so much so I'd reread it a few weeks before the release of this one just to have it fresh in my mind. After just finishing this story I'm left feeling disappointed. Definitely a let down compared to the first one. Don't get me wrong it's not a horrible read. It was just okay. Nothing more, nothing less. It's definitely not a book that will stick with me for awhile or one that I will reread. :(
This book was not for me. After so many delays in the publishing of it I had high expectations, in both content and quality of finish, unfortunately I didn't find this. I didn't like either character. There's pushy and there's pushy, and Turner was the latter. He continued to push her beyond her comfort zones even when she said she was uncomfortable. He saw her as a 'project', his words. Then there's Annabelle, I can't stand characters who say one thing so adamantly and then the guy looks at them and there all swoony and happy to do what ever they say. However, her biggest fault is her unreliability and irresponsibility. A nurse who takes Xanax to calm her nerves about having people in her house, nominates herself as designated driver and then goes on to drink alcohol is not one I can respect. I just didn't feel any chemistry between them, it's hard when at the start he's a playboy and going through the female staff at the hospital and she's adamant that she doesn't date .
As for the book itself I found the number of simple spelling mistakes to be disappointing. It had an editor and beta readers and still lots of mistakes made it in. Also, I didn't realise it was 150 pages less than Bender but twice the price... I never get that logic.
Honestly not sure if I could be bothered to read the next one, which I assume from the ending is going to be Dodger's.

Get your tissues out maladies... Stacy has to delay Sliders release again. She doesn't like how it's flowing. It's complete but I guess in a way she's stuck in editing process. She wants it to be perfect. She's gonna be releasing another book first; (Hitchhiker... Cover model is none else than Shawn Dawson aka Camden). She's worried about her readers and doesn't want to lose her readership so shes a little frantic about it. A writer with quality writing style and gives a crap about her readers. I FREAKING LOVE THIS WOMAN. Heart broken I'll have to wait... Maybe she'll have some really steamy scenes that'll make the wait worth it.

----------- The story develops slowly while the hero conquering the confidence of heroin and she's opening for the possibility of a relationship. After reading so many negative reviews I decided to start reading and ended up enjoying it. The other family members continue their stories and we're already looking forward to read the next story.
I waited FOREVER for Book 2 - because book 1 was AWESOME! I didn't connect to these two at all. I didn't feel like the H knew what he was getting himself into. He was such a "stud" player...such a OTT serial dater...This guy is a doctor. It seemed like the setting should have been college for sure. The h was okay. But the fact that she was happy just to be in the infamous doctor's bed...blah. I just didn't feel the connection these two had.
lame. I went into this story knowing the least about Turner compared to the other brothers so I really had no interest from the beginning. I finished the story still knowing the least about this brother. I feel like this story was just randomly put together without much thought when I've been waiting for over a year since the first book. and the girl character with the low self-esteem and insecurities was a bit over the top for me. Sorry author for being so mean but thats my honest opinion. On a positive note, I am looking forward to Dodger and Macie's story.
Overall Opinion: This one was kind of meh for me. It will not go down as one of my favorites as it probably won't be that memorable. I didn't feel a connection to the h or H. They had decent banter and chemistry, but they were kind of...boring.
Storyline: This is Annabelle and Turner's story. We met both characters in the first book of the series, Bender (which I liked more btw), but it is not necessary to read the first book to follow along in this one. Annabelle has had a tough life so far. She was orphaned at 16, but she worked through it all and got her nursing degree and is starting at the hospital that Turner works (he's a dr) in labor and delivery. The first time they had met and felt some sparks was through Keegan (Annabelle's good friend and Turner's brother's fiancé at the time) at their graduation party. The story takes off many months later after Annabelle has been avoiding Turner at the hospital because she's heard all these rumors about him being a manwhore (which for the most part are true), and since she had declined his offer for a date at the graduation party. Eventually, he wears her down and she goes out with him. He takes her on dates that push her boundaries because she is living a relatively sheltered life (mainly because she is afraid of getting hurt like she was when her parents died). Stronger feelings grow, they have some steamy times, there is some drama with a patient of Annabelles...but eventually they find their HFN.
POV: This alternated between Annabelle and Turner's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good. I read this really fast, so it was a great pace for me. I also don't feel like it was instalove.
H rating: 3 stars. Turner. He was just ok...
h rating: 3 stars. Annabelle. She was just ok...
Sadness level: Low/moderate. I personally didn't need any tissues, but there are some major sad themes going on here.
Heat level: Moderate. It takes them a good while to get physical (which I think was nice because Turner was showing Annabelle that he wanted her more than just a hookup), so there aren't that many scenes -- but they're pretty steamy.
Descriptive sex: Yes
Sex scene with OW or OM:
Cheating:
Possible Triggers:
Closure: It was kind of too abrupt of an ending for me, and at the most I would call it a HFN ending. I really needed some more commitment here.
Worth the $?: Yes. It was on my scribed account, so it was worth it.
I LOVED the first one, so it kills me to DNF at 76%. Nothing was happening and both MC's were boring. She may have been the most boring heroine I've read about it in a very long time.
Ok... first, this book to waaaaaaayyyy too long to come out, I hardly remembered anything from the first one other than Keegan being over the top and dramatic and maybe even a little psycho, so it was hard for me to come into this one without a little chip on my shoulder... The cover is hot though.... although it was hot a year ago when it was being teased with a nice release date that came and went without a word... so.... i'm still bitter I guess....
While Annabelle was much more mature than Keegan was in her book, I really liked her charecter, I understood where she was coming from not wanting to get close to anyone or not wanting to let her guard down for fear of losing them like she did her parents. It's an understandable wall to have built up. She wasn't overdramatic or so over the top like Keegan was, even in this book I couldn't stand Keegan... Annabelle was sweet and shy at first and the way she cared for Baby Noah.. I really felt for her... I didn't however, feel like Turner was a good match for her... Judging by the cover, his profession and how he acted, I'd have guessed he was 3 different people.... He seemed pompous and douchy when you thought about him being a doctor, the way he talked sometimes was irritating... he was bossy and condesending sometimes, I didn't like it.... I didn't feel a connection between them at all, and then the guy who took her on all the crazy adventures, he coulda been the guy from the cover I guess, he seemed pretty down to earth and up for anything.... I wouldn't have minded that part of his personality being most dominate. I just didn't get it, I guess....
Overall, it was nice to see the other brothers, I hope I can remember them by the time the next book rolls around... I did'nt remember the parents or anyone really but Camden and unfortunately Keegan, and didn't they have a sister somewhere in there that Keegan freaked out? Why wasn't she in this book? I'm glad they got their HEA or HFN I guess, but I feel like for as long as we all waited for this one, it didn't live up to my expectations.... Maybe it's just me though, don't let it stop you from reading it... Didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. 2.5 stars for me

Annabelle Shaffer is a young nurse who keeps to herself and has sworn off men in her life because she doesn't want to fall in love and risk losing more people in her life.
Turner Brooks is an orthopedic doctor who is every bit the alpha-male and who is used to having his way with the nurses and not used to hearing no. Until Annabelle, that is.
Turner can't get Annabelle out of his head after she twisted her ankle trying to run bases at the family baseball game in flip-flops. It takes everything Annabelle has to say no to Taylor, men are not on her radar or in her future.
Turner wears Annabelle down by forcing her to face her fears through a series of dates and breaking down her walls.
I haven't read Bender yet, so I didn't really know what to expect from Stacy's writing, and my friends loved, loved, loved Bender! The story was cute. The chemistry was okay. There were some laugh-out-loud moments and some heavy moments where I could feel my heart breaking for Annabelle.
I read it pretty quickly, but the story didn't suck me in so much that I hated to put it down. I rated it 3.5, it's almost a 4.0 for me, but it seemed like something was missing. Would I recommend the read to one of my friends? Possibly, depends on that friend's likes. Was it a waste of my time? No it definitely was a cute and heart-warming book.
