"Andrew Paxton was a man of science -- he dealt with the facts and left the fantasizing to others. His work involved classified government material, so when his small son discovered a raven-haired beauty washed up on the shore behind his secluded island home, he was bound to be suspicious. The first thing Marina realized when she came to was that she was far from home. She hated deceiving the very man who'd saved her life, but there was too much at stake. Even as she weighed the cost of the truth, her secret was exposed, and in an instant she knew she'd risk everything to ensure his safety -- and his love."
Maura Seger was born in 1951. She and her husband, Michael, met while they were both working for the same company. They married after a whirlwind courtship that might have been taken directly from romance novel. She credits her husband's patient support and good humor for helping her fulfill the lifelong dream of being a writer.
She is happily at work on a new novel, because she finds that writing each romance is and adventure filled with fascinating people who never fail to surprise her. When she isn't writing, she keeps busy homeschooling her two children and thinking of new stories. She lives in New England, USA, with her husband, children and menagerie... mostly.
For my #7 Challenge (book less than 300 pages), I read Sea Gate by Maura Seger. A dark-haired beauty washes up on Andrew Paxton's beach in the Caribbean, to be found by Andrew's three-year-old son, Billy. While recovering at Andrew's house, the young lady, who says her name is Marina, is very reticent to talk about where she comes from.
Assuring Andrew - a scientist who works with classified material - that she means him and Billy no harm, doesn't come easy for Marina as she harbors a secret which could cause them serious harm. She has escaped from her people and come to Andrew's world in order to gather evidence to prove to them that they can live with 'Outworlders' safely. Marina's secret mission is jeopardized when a strange sea craft is spotted along the beach and an expedition to find the lost continent of Atlantis finds more than is expected. I give this story an A+!
PB-B @ 1987, 6/91. A far-fetched novel about a woman who escapes from Atlantis to see what the Outer World is like and falls in love with a widower and 3 year old son, and ends up bringing both worlds together again. Okay.
