What may seem a dated book is actually very useful to users of early MIDI equipment. A usful book to have hanging around the home studio

Older Information in a Moment to Moment World
This book would have helped me starting out in midi back in 1988. Today, a midi expert can show you midi but cannot make you a composer or a creative writer. I would recommend starting out inexpensively with a Casio and moving on to a Kurzweil or advanced Roland WORKSTATION KEYBOARD
