Competition Car Aerodynamics 3rd Edition by Simon McBeath

Rate this book
Aerodynamics is a science in itself, and is one of the most important factors in modern competition car design. This fully updated second edition covers all aspects of aerodynamics, including both downforce and drag. This complex subject is explained in down-to-earth terms, with the aid of numerous illustrations, including color CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) diagrams to demonstrate how aerodynamic devices work, as well as wind-tunnel studies.

This book is another solid proof that American-written technical literatures are superior to that of British-written. The thing with Britain's science books is the authors always try to explain logical facts using rhetoric language supposedly to be beautiful and poetic and.. even harder to understand. This book is no exception. I go through Chapter 1 with great difficulty and stopped at Chapter 2 when I know I can't take this anymore. What a disappointment considering how wealthy this book of information. Perhaps my IQ is so low, but the best science books are always those that succeed in explaining complicated concepts to idiots.

If you're building any kind of race car that allows aerodynamics in the class, this book will fill your mind with ideas, and the science to back those ideas.
