Alarmed by the death of a wealthy woman from their town, four elderly Raven's Wing residents--recently divorced Mildred Bennett, former police chief Forrest T. Haggarty, nurse Irene Purdy, and retired physician Trevor Bradford--join forces to solve the crime
A former chief police and his older friends end up looking into the murder of a prominent plastic surgeon's wife which happened outside of their little town in NYC. The police felt the death was an accident but her 14 year old son feels differently. This book has religious overtones, an absent father, a missing daughter and a mother with secrets. It wasn't quite as believable as some books but it was kind of cute. I won't ruin anything but I didn't love the end.
As far as contemporary mysteries go, this one wasn't much of a challenge for me. I knew the murderer within the second chapter. Much of the resolution seemed convoluted and a little too "neat." Overall this is a good way to spend the weekend if there is nothing on TV.
