This is quite a grab-bag of stories, a few of which are fables from around the world. Some are downright odd, but there are a few gems in there that my boys request repeatedly, including the Musicians of Bremen and They Boy Who Didn't Always Tell the Truth. Just skim each story before selecting it for a read-aloud.

This is a collection of 24 stories, both classic and newer ones, from various parts of the world, and as the title suggests, aimed at six-year-olds (some very clearly so, others not so much). As with many anthologies, the range of quality in the material is very broad, some stories being spot-on while others have been a bit messy and in some cases not easily comprehensible.

Overall, my six-and-a-half-year-old enjoyed the volume, albeit parsed out over close to half a year.

Two of the kids gave this five stars, and one gave it four. She was usually ready to stop reading before the other two. But this was a fun read aloud, and they are already looking forward to starting the next one for 7-year-olds.
