You've all probably heard of Abbey Clancy, one of UK's most successful and in demand models. She's also a presenter, a mother and wife, and a UK brand ambassador for many top brands of today. As of recently, she's also an author after publishing her debut 'Remember My Name' with MIRA just a few days ago.

Seems like Abbey really has it all, both the looks and the talent. Being a blogger for quite some time and spending most of my free time reading and on sites like Goodreads, amazon and other people's blogs, I've come to realize people have love-hate relationship with books written by celebrities. Some readers would go as far and think most celebrities can't write and use the services of ghost writers, while others are anxiously expecting to read their books. And there's also a group of people who never judges beforehand, and I'd like to consider myself as belonging to this group.

Not exactly following Abbey Clancy's career (as I'm not UK based) I wasn't aware of her mega success until I started Googling. I was surprised (in a good way) to see she has a really impressive bio and has already achieved so much. The reason why I'm telling you this, is because 'Remember My Name' though might not contain autobiographical elements, there are certainly some things which seem similar. Like the fact the main character, Jessica (sometimes with a K instead of C, Jessika) and Abbey Clancy both come from Liverpool. It could be me, but I had the strong impression that a lot of Jessica is based on Abbey herself and her own experience in showbiz. Jessica is the typical girl next door, lovely, charming and full of dreams. She's got a beautiful voice and dreams of singing in front of a large audience one day. She comes from a normal, middle class family, which has taught her that all good things take a hard work. She's got no problems with hard work, even if it means wasting her singing talent on Princess home parties, dressed up as Elza and falling in a big puddle of mud after being 'molested' by five year olds. However, what she thinks is a disaster turns into her life chance, and she's ready to grab it by both hands. She's offered a position in a music company, known for many superstars and talent finds. She's to move to London and start her work immediately, but instead of singing on a big stage, she gets to make coffees 9-18 h and listen to one of her bosses constantly insulting her for her accent. But God works in mysterious ways, so Jess is given her shot and she sure knew how to seize the moment. A star is born, but what's the price Jessica (or should I say, JessiKa) is willing to pay for fame?

'Remember My Name' was definitely one of these super fun reads you'll devour in one sitting. Jess is a lovely character many can relate to. A normal girl with big dreams, a bit gullible but hard working. She's not even aware of all the talent hiding inside of her, but once she becomes a star, seems like everyone wants a piece of her. I guess it's the truth and in the bio of all celebrities, once they enter the world of showbiz, they're less perceived as a person and more as a product. Which brings me to the next thing about this book. While it speaks about never letting go of your dreams, it also speaks about all the change you're to expect once you make it. You change, people around you change, and sometimes the change won't be a pretty sight. Seems like all of a sudden, you don't even know who your friends are. You're surrounded by many, but only few really know you. That's exactly what happens to Jess!

I really enjoyed 'Remember My Name' and Jess got under my skin from the first chapter. I was hoping for more romance, but I was definitely pleased with Daniel and Jack's role in Jess' life. Dishy and super powerful Jack or (once) nerdy Daniel, Jess will have to decide. I had my bets on the partner very early on and I was right, but it was predictable (which is not a bad thing for me). Still, I didn't have any problems with the predictability, however love triangles are not really my cuppa. That's the only reason for taking down one star, otherwise the rest of it was superb.

If you're looking for a super fun, light read you'll devour in couple of hours, look no further! 'Remember My Name' is the perfect beach read and the top accessory for spring/summer 2016.

This was Abby Clancy's debut model and I'd seen her interviewed about it and was keen to get my hands on a copy of the book. She is married to a footballer and models - so she is writing about the world of fame and fortune that she knows well. It was lovely, glitzy read. Perfect for curling up and losing yourself in a bit of glamour for a while- a nice quick read.

Jessica is desperate to become a singing sensation and the book starts with her starring in a school production written by her best friend and quickly progresses to her working as a children's entertainer dressed as Elsa from Frozen. The scene is set really well at the party and provides some amusing moments.

She's 'discovered' at the party and starts as an intern with a production company and finds out that the road to fame is not going to be a fast, easy path. Her boss provides a much welcome distraction.

When their star falls ill before appearing at a business party Jess gets the chance to sing- as she's been practicing Vogue's songs and dance moves. I loved her relationship with her stylist and the scenes with her family- who are a great down to earth family.

She is then caught up in the whirl she's dreamed of-but finds that she needs to pause the world to make sure she doesn't lose track of the person she is and forget all those family values that mean the world to her.

It's a great way of portraying the things that mega stars have to contend with when they've reached the pinnacle they dream of- to make sure that they take time to take stock and remember what is important.

I'd definately read more by Abby.

Remember My Name is the debut novel from Abbey Clancy, ghostwritten by the brilliant Debbie Johnson and so, combined, the book provides the perfect blend of Scouse, humour and entertainment, with all the components of a fab beach read to lose yourself in this summer.

A fun read from page one onwards, Remember My Name tells the story of Jess, a down-to-earth Liverpool girl who has dreamt of being a star ever since she was a teenager. Jess felt very real and likeable and because of that, I was rooting from her right from the beginning and still throughout, even when you can tell she’s making choices which aren’t necessarily right for her. The book is told in a really conversational style which makes it feel accessible and more like you’re having a catch-up with a friend. Jess is really honest with the reader and we get to know her really well which feels more rewarding when you see her character develop throughout the story.

Though Jess dreams of being a star, so far she feels only destined to be singing songs from Frozen for the rest of her life and frankly she’s had enough of that the moment she was attacked by a pretty brutal snow-machine mid-song at the birthday party of a spoilt, evil little girl. But that’s the day she gets spotted by Jack, head of talent at Starmaker Records, and the process of Jess quickly uprooting her life from Liverpool to London soon follows as her dreams are about to become true – and here forms Jessika.

Books with characters who become singers or actresses often follow the same kind of path and I’m not saying Remember My Name was much different to that because you’re quickly aware of how things are likely to work out. But there was something about this book that gave the story a different edge to me, maybe because being able to connect with Jess so easily and being able to pick up on everything she is truly thinking made her appear less and less self-obsessed. When her new-found stardom led her to arguing with her family and losing contact with the people who once meant something to her, this instead led me as the reader to feel for her because it was easy to see how caught-up in this new life she was and how mostly she had the best intentions. As “celebrities” go, she was pretty harmless.

Remember My Name is entertaining from start to finish, almost as frenetic as the celebrity life of Jess but in a good way – with laughter, disaster, friendship, drama and a mix of romance all satisfyingly worked into the novel. I was pretty shattered myself trying to keep up with Jessika’s day-to-day life, mostly because I kept persuading myself one more chapter was a good idea (and rightly so). I really enjoyed the romance aspect to this book. Guessing where it was going to go didn’t affect that and though I do love reading romance novels it’s sometimes quite refreshing to read a book which isn’t dominated by the romance, like here, as there was much more going on in Jessika’s life than that.

Overall I found this book to be a really fun read and a really ideal escapist read for the summer. With amusing characters, both good and bad, there was always a new part of the story to follow without Jessika’s stardom becoming too repetitive a read. My favourite secondary character was Vogue, who was fresh and had her own interesting story. My only complaint is that I’d have loved to have seen more from her character because she contributed to some of my favourite parts of the book. Despite that, Remember My Name was built up to an ending sweeter than I could have imagined and it was, for me, the perfect way to end a really lovely book.

I read an interview with Abbey Clancy when she said this is like a Mills & Boon book. Well it is published by Harlequin, but it is nothing like a Mills & Boon unless Abbey still thinks they feature no sex as nowadays, M&B have some steamy scenes not the old fashioned sex behind a closed door which is what Abbey's book features but also, M&B stories are romantic and the story is based around the hero and heroine. This book is not really a romance.

The writing style is very easy flowing but this would be a book more suited to my teenage daughter. It's very YA/NA. The storyline is predictable and unoriginal and you know exactly where it's all going to lead. The 'romance' doesn't really happen until near the end and it's very juevenile. Throughout the book, Jess is in a sexual relationship with her Manager, Jack. When she later declares that she loved him, I couldn't really understand how as they spend little time romantically together. It was also more than obvious as to what Jack was upto.

The ending is quite rushed. It's a sweet, lighthearted read, but should be aimed at the teenage market. My teenager would probably like it.

Remember My Name deserves the five stars I'm giving it for no other reason that it successfully took my mind of various things that had been spinning around in my brain when I wasn't reading. It is the perfect mix of light hearted romantic comedy, a tale of unexpected celebrity, and just a lot of fun.

I loved reading about the parties that Jess gets invited to, both as she is starting out, initially as a Disney princess, and that particular party where she was Elsa, will stick in my mind for a while, and then later after she has been discovered and moved to London, there are some other memorable parties. For example the one where she takes Vogue's place as the singer at a big launch party, and ends up launching her own fame sky high and turns into an overnight sensation. Then there are lots of other parties which are various degrees of fun.

Of course its not all fun and games, Jess' personal journey as her profile rises, is a struggle, as she knows she shouldn't be letting it all go a bit to her head, and has great intentions, but can't quite find the energy to follow through.

Due to Abby Clancy's career I really do believe a lot of what is written is based very closely on reality and that starting a fledgling singing career really is as exhausting as its portrayed.

While it may not be the the most literary of books, it isn't trying to be either. If you are looking for a romantic comedy, set in the world of showbiz, with some sexy men, sassy women and some incredibly lovely characters, then Remember My Name is certainly worth a read. When you are in the mood for something light hearted, entertaining and all round fun, then you can do a lot worse than picking up this book and enjoying the ride.

Thanks to Netgalley and MIRA for this review copy. This was my honest opinion.

As soon as I spotted Abbey Clancy's debut, I knew it was my kind of read, as I love going behind the scenes of the crazy world of glitz and glamour, and I was not wrong. Remember My Name is a really fun and entertaining story about a girl from Liverpool who becomes the new musical sensation overnight and the consequences it has in her life and her family's.

I think that I enjoyed this novel so much because I instantly liked Jessica and I was rooting for her from page one, when she was dressed as Elsa and was attacked by a snow machine mid Let It Go. She was down to earth, quite naive, hard working and above all, believable as a character. And she had the best family, supportive and caring. I think when she finally got her chance at being rich and famous and became Jessika (with a K), I was as excited as her.

As you can imagine, as soon as Jessica became Jessika, she was a bit blinded by the fame and fortune and kind of forgot where she came from. But I guess that it must be difficult to stay true to yourself when everyone starts adoring you and you cannot even go to the loo without it making to the news. There was a moment halfway through that I was sure that I knew how the story was going to go and end but there were enough twists (some quite unexpected) to keep me intrigued and on my toes during the whole book.

Another part I enjoyed about this story was the more romantic part. There are a couple of love interests in Jessica's new life and I think the author handled this part really well. More than one scene had me giggling and I was really happy with the ending.

If your are looking for a highly entertaining story with lots of fun situations, humour, love and great characters, Remember My Name is the one for you.

Now, I may be biased because I come from the greatest city in the world but I do love a good book set in Liverpool. And that is exactly what you get from Abbey Clancy’s debut novel Remember My Name.

The story centres on Jessy Malone, a young girl with a big dream and who unfortunately has never had a chance to have her talents seen…except by children as she performs at birthday parties dressed as Disney princesses. Hardly rock and roll. However, a chance encounter changes all that and Jessy’s life is changed beyond comprehension.

Suddenly Jessy has to figure out who she is: Jessica, the down to earth family girl from Liverpool or Jessika the newest musical sensation?

The great thing about Remember My Name (besides the celebration of Liverpool) is that the whole “fish out of water” storyline reads so truthfully. You totally buy into the fact the Jessy’s head is turned by all the madness and that it would be easy to forget the person that you once were. I think it also helps that we live in a world of instant (and social) media. It is no longer a hard slog for a lot of singers who are plucked from obscurity and thrown in at the deep end. Furthermore, we are allowed to see Jessy at her most vulnerable and (arguably) her most real.

Remember My Name is a really enjoyable read and it is a rags to riches story that really packs a punch. It is a must for summer. It is as essential for your trip to the beach as your sun lotion!

As this was Abbey Clancy’s debut novel, I was very intrigued to see what she had to offer. Well, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it.

It follows the story of Jessy Malone from Liverpool who is keen to make it as a star. The book opens up with a very funny scene with Jessy dressed up as Elsa trying hard to please her young audience, while slowly sinking in to the mud. This makes for a great opening and really caught my attention straightaway.

I really liked Jessy (or Jessika as she comes known) as a character. She is very family orientated, but hard working and determined to succeed. Her struggle to balance both family life and her increasing career pressures is written really well, giving her more depth as a character.
Although this book is very much of a chick-lit genre; to me it has more substance than other books of this genre I have read. I felt like the characters were developed well, and although the storyline was quite predictable, it was an enjoyable read.

If you are looking for a light-hearted, easy holiday read then this is for you.

I would like to thank netgalley and MIRA for the free copy I got sent in exchange for my honest review.
I picked this book because of the blurb not because who had wrote it, if anything it made me think twice about reading it as I have read some books written by celebs and they were just awful in every way but I'm pleased to say this wasn't one of them!
The book is based around Jess who is a young all singing all dancing children's entertainer from Liverpool. It follows her road from rags to riches and the highs and lows along the way. The book moves along at a good pace and Jess is described well so that you do like her despite some of the choices she makes. It makes you believe that maybe the celebrity life isn't as easy as it seems with Jess struggling to balance her career and family. The main storyline is Jess struggling to reach her dream it does have quite a few subplots to keep you interested along the way.
I did feel though that my 16 year old would have enjoyed it and maybe it is for the younger generation as there wasn't anything in it that was X rated.

From the moment Liverpool teenager Jess stars in the school musical, she knows that she’s GOT to be a star. Fast forward a few years and the closest the now 22 year old Jessica has got to stardom is as a children’s entertainer – which is where she meets Jack, uncle to the spoiled 5 year old birthday princess, who spots Jessica’s talent and offers her a job with a record label. But that means that she’ll have to leave her family and her home and move to London – where she quickly finds that the streets aren’t quite paved with gold. And as she spends her days making tea for bitchy PR girls and her nights in a mouldy studio flat, Jessica wonders if leaving Liverpool for London has been a terrible mistake

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was an easy read and a little predictable in the storyline. I feel I have read this book before. I found the book didn't go into much detail regarding the storylines or the characters.

When Jess is saved by a handsome man when she takes a tumble she soon finds out he has big dreams for her . Moving from her home town of Liverpool to the bright lights of London Jess is thrown into the entertainment industry in the most unlikely way . At first things are not quite as she expected but then one act of kindness leads her to the most unexpected places . This was a lovely read and Jess is a very likeable character , you really want her to do well. There is many laugh out loud moments in the book that had me giggling in public . If you like books about starting new things and life changes as well as friendship and your roots then this is the book for you .

This book is brilliant. It is well written, exciting and non stop fun. Jess dreams of being a pop-star and ends up singing at children's birthday parties. She meets Jack who is a partner in a music company and says he can make her famous. Jess drops everything and moves to London where she finds reality does not live up to her dreams. One night Jessy gets her chance to sing, as the famous star Vogue is sick. She becomes famous overnight and her life changes 100%. There are however problems when her family and friends don't understand her anymore. can she sort out her life before its too late? This is a great story.

Although this book was easy to read and moved quite fast, the story was very predictable. Almost within the first few chapters you could guess how it would end and what would happen along the way.

The writing was not fantastic, at one point I noticed a whole paragraph had been copied from one page to the next page.

I think I enjoyed the light relief of the book and the escapism from a world I have no desire to be part of but I wouldn't be in a rush to read it again, recommend it or think about it now that it is finished.

I enjoyed this "chick lit" book by Abbey Clancy, nice light, and fun,
Jessica wants to be a star, she HAS to be a star, but is it what she really wants?
Jessica's character is one that we can all relate to, as if she has been a friend for years, so thanks Lovereading, x
