Spike is determined to keep the last copy of his embarrassing poetry from being discovered, sending Buffy and the Scooby Gang on a faux-supernatural goose chase to New Orleans to cover his tracks. At an antiques fair, the group is fascinated by The Casquette Girls' clothes on display. When Dawn utters a wish she most likely should have kept to herself, the gang gains a firsthand account of the sisters' identities... beyond what they could have imagined. Buffy, The Last Vampire Slayer writer Casey Gilly is joined by Golden Rage artist Lauren Knight, bringing fans a historically fun and frightful one-shot to sink their fangs into!
This book is a hilarious romp through ur-Buffy continuity that feels like a lost episode unearthed for fans to indulge in. This 40 page special is packed with low-stakes (heh) conflict, expressive cartooning, and pitch-perfect dialogue. Casey Gilly (a Buffy comics veteran) shows a masterful understanding of characters, and Lauren Knight's vibrant artwork is full of personality and playful physicality that keeps the action moving briskly. Plus, there's a treasure trove of in-jokes and references for diehard fans (say "effulgent"!) as Spike tries to save himself from the ultimate embarrassment- his poetry being discovered. Buffy fans owe it to themselves to pick this up and enjoy the ride.
This was a fun, campy little romp of a comic. While I have talked a lot of trash on Boom! Studios Buffy comics in the past, this was actually genuinely good. The story is something I could imagine being maybe a B plot in an episode of the show. The characters were very true to the original characters. Well done.
Another great fanfiction from Boom Studios I guess. This kinda felt like an episode from season 6, however it wasn't as good as an actual episode because of some shortcuts. Not a fan of some drawings and characters design. Also, I'm wondering why there is a #1 in the title since this was a complete story.
A really boring Buffy comic about the Scooby gang headed to New Orleans to see Antiques Road show so Spike can secretly get his poetry back from when he was alive. This should be a lot more fun than it is. Everything's flat. The art and colors are flat. There's no real story other than the gang actually exploring a convention. It's REALLY boring. This summer should have remained lost.
Sweet story about accepting your imperfections. Though they did rely heavily on repeating past plots, wishes and sticky fingers... I think Giles came off the best. I totally believed it was Giles. Now of course all I want to do is watch Buffy...
