Beautifully done history of one of America's greatest engineering the construction of the complex of tunnels and terminals leading to Pennsylvania Station in New York, including the building of the tunnels under the Hudson and East Rivers, the bridge across the Hell Gate from Long Island, the enormous storage and service yards and the electrification of the entire New York line. The centerpiece, of course, was Penn Station itself whose history is described in detail, including its use since the building was demolished in the 1960s. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos, maps and diagrams. 158 pages with index.
