The sweetest taboo–if you want it, come get it. . . .
Yuri and Drae are keeping secrets–each caught up in her own whirlwind of scandal and passion. They swore as children that they would never conceal anything from each other, but now, as adults, they realize that not everything is meant to be told. Yuri is married to Jeff, a man she never really loved yet settled for. During a trip to the Caribbean she begins a torrid affair with her longtime friend Britt, a rising reggae star she has always secretly desired. Drae, a high school guidance counselor, is married to Hassan, a sadistic porn king who makes her “audition” his actors and actresses while he gets off on the wild, and not always consensual, sex. As Yuri and Drae struggle to keep up their double lives, their clandestine cover-ups come to light–and the consequences are more than either of them bargained for.
The sweetest taboo held my attention from start to finish. Both Yuri and Drae found themselves in a marriage for all the wrong reasons. Instead of being with someone because they actually loved them, they were willing to settle for what they could get. I didn't like Jeff or Hassan and they were both just sorry. They were constantly throwing what they did to get Yuri and Drae out of their situations in their face every chance they got. Britt was a bit wishy washy in the beginning because one minute it was as if he didn't care and the next he was the complete opposite. Nae Nae was a straight up fool and a trip. He had me cracking up the whole time, especially when it came to the Freeda incident. Troi was just too thirsty! It was so easy for her to get over on Yuri. I was upset with Yuri because she believed everything and Drae was blinded for sure. Jeff couldn't handle the hurt he got in return for hurting Yuri and he took things too far considering all the wrong he'd done. Hassan was always suspect and it was evident when light was finally shed on his and Drae's relationship. It took a minute but Britt understood where he went wrong and took the necessary steps to make things right. All I could say was yes to Nasty Naz!!! I was glad Yuri and Drae got themselves together even though it took their sweetest taboos coming to light for things to fall into place.
I would give this 5 stars but I hate books that center around adultery. This is not a romance book this is straight EROTICA. The sex scenes were 500 degrees hot. Hated Britt, he treated his best friend like shit. Okay, she was married and they started f'n but they were bff since elementary school and he treated and talked to her like some random side chick groupie. I was so glad when Yuri stood up to her husband, with his name calling ass and then stood up to Britt and left his wishy washy self centered ass. Drae's husband was just a psycho, he was certified, with papers, crazy. I didn't even see the Drae's/Sunshine the porn star thing at all, was as blind sided as she was. Loved Nae Nae. I know I will start saying "Pu$$ies by hating" at least once a week. Nasty Naz -aka- Nasir was the only decent male in the entire book. That first sex scene with him and Drae, whoo chile that was hot as hell.

Two cousins, Yuri and Drae, both are married, with nice homes, yet, the men that they've married don't seem to be the chosen ones. This, at times, leaves both deliberating the question `Where is the love?'
For Yuri, she believes that the love of her life is Britt, her best friend. While she's willing to do almost any and every thing to be a part of his world again, leaving Jeff, her husband, is simply not an option. Sure Jeff cheated, but he wanted her when no one else did. Doesn't that count for something?
Drae's whole life has been about finding someone or something to make her happy. And it seemed Hassan, her husband, and his money would do the trick. That was until he started making outrageous demands, putting too much of their business in the streets. Can Drae stop her world from spinning out of control?
As the cousins try concealing their secrets they must learn to rely on one another, as well as themselves to help them move forward to put an end to the overwhelming drama. Luckily Nae-Nae, their best friend, comes to the rescue, with plenty of fun and comedy on blast with his outrageous antics.
THE SWEETEST TABOO deals with the reality of what love is. Truthfully, I would've preferred an entire story based exclusively on Yuri and Britt. Their love, genuine stocked with doubt, fear, familiarity and longing immediately sucks you all the way in and you can't help suffocating as you try grasping every single detail. I believe that the author did an excellent job introducing this part of the story and while I understand that the basis was to show the intricacy of both women and their lives, it could've really been a stand alone.
I've now read this author as all three of her pseudonyms, and while I've enjoyed her work, the comedy, different sense of romance and in-your-face drama, I find that this story is a very close carbon to another story I've read by her. I do hope that this is a coincidence and not a lack of creativity. I will definitely read the next title to see how that fairs.
This book kept me interested every minute i was reading it. I didn't even want to put the book down at times. The most thing i like about this book is that two cousins world is both have huge turnovers but each one thinks that the other is not having as much difficulty as the other. The author sets up the book by each cousin having their own chapter one after the other. For example their names is Drea and Luri, the first chapter was titled Luri then the second chapter would be Drea and so on and so on.At first, when I was reading the summary of the book I had questioned how could this author show two lives at the same time but she answered ma question. The climax of this book surprised me so much the way the two cousins thought of each other but t the same time love each other so much. They both had men problems but just didn't know and you would think cousins that are close and grew up together would grow closer as they mature.
Great read for our Book Club In Between the Sheets
This book is a kaleidoscope of drama, erotic scenes and what the heck events. This was my first time reading this author’s book, but I am truly hooked and will read all of their books available. Thank you for your artistry, talent and fantasies!

Risque offers an enticing plot with "The Sweetest Taboo," a story of two cousins.
Yuri has loved her longtime friend Britt for as long as she can remember. When an opportunity presents itself to act on that, will she let a little something like her husband get in the way?
From the outside looking in, Drae is living large with her husband Hassan, a big time producer. What Drae failed to tell everyone is that Hassan produces alright, but his movies are of a very adult nature and she "auditions" his talent. Fed up, will the next audition be the last?
"The Sweetest Taboo" aims for, and delivers, provocative thrills that satisfy across the board. Risque's humor complements this tale. She crafts characters who live and breathe. Readers will find themselves caring for the two women at the heart of "The Sweetest Taboo," and the supporting ones too. Who can't love Nae-Nae?
The temptation is great in this review to quote some of the dialogue and witty banter, but that would rob readers of the pleasure of sampling Risque's style. But I will say this...p*ssies be hating on Tee Tee!
3.5 stars actually. There was a steady flow through this novel which was the tale of 2 cousins Yuri & Drae along with their bff Nae-Nae. I appreciated the interactions and comedic timing of the story but had to deduct .5 star for that over the top storyline with Squeak & Freeda. I have to admit being highly entertained by them in iHOP but otherwise felt they were just unnecessary fillers.
I can't see how Drae didn't see what Hassan had really created but appreciated that Naz wasn't hung up on it. Their interaction was fire!
I was feeling Britt throughout and pissed off bc Yuri was soooo annoyingly jealous and insecure. I mean damn, girl.
This book was so good and had me so intrigued I actually read it all in one day! I loved the characters and the plot it was dramatic and funny at times. I identified with the charactor yuri it was refreshing to read a love story with a plus size diva as a main charactor I enjoyed this book emincely! The plot was good and it centered on real life issue's that alot of us men and women have been thru or dealt with. This is a must read! Great Job Risque!
OMG!! This book was so amazing. It was so good that I actually was waiting for it to end bad, but I was happy with the ending. I couldn't put the book down and although I couldn't wait to see what happened next, I didn't want it to end. I have absolutely no complaints about this book.
