The Sioux have retaken the Dakotas and the Coyote Confederation performs the Ghost Dance on the High Plains.

Jackson Hayworth finds himself haunted by something he cannot his own shadow. At night the cowboy from Australia must hide himself in total darkness; in the slightest amount of light his shadow can detach itself and commit unspeakable acts of carnage that Jackson is powerless to prevent. He travels to the United States , where the spirit world was unleashed into ours, in the hopes of finding a cure for his condition. But can he control a wraith that follows him wherever he goes?
