“I just need to get away from all this. I can’t concentrate on anything anymore.”
This was an adult story about a woman plagued by a secret admirer.
Chloe was quite obviously shaken by her run-in with her scary secret admirer, and the way Eric at first didn’t take that seriously was a bit annoying.
The storyline in this was partly about Chloe and her stalker, and partly about the romance between Chloe and Eric. We did get a bit of a triangle developing when Eric’s ex-wife turned up, but this wasn’t a big thing.
The ending to this was a happily ever after, with no cliff-hanger.
I ended up really enjoying this one. I saw a friends review and was intrigued with the synopsis. I have a close friend that was a dancer for the Utah Jazz, my husband is a Marine and I studied stalkers a bit in college. So, I already felt a connection to the story before I even started.
Chloe is a Laker Girl, she loves to dance and loves her job but over the past little while she has been receiving anonymous gifts that are starting to get more and more extravagant. Things escalate to the point were she genuinely fears for her safety and decides she needs to leave town while the police investigate. I liked Chloe, she seemed like a positive type of person, the stress of having a stalker obviously has her stressed, but she tries not to let it consume her. She reminded me of my friend in a lot of ways, beautiful and full of kindness.
Eric has recently returned from Afghanistan and has also just gotten out of the Marines. He's healing physically and emotionally from his deployment and recent divorce. He has no interest in women and wants to avoid them at all costs. He does not want to help out when Chloe arrives on his doorstep and does his best to keep his distance. Which isn't easy to do when he is so attracted to Chloe's beauty and kindness. She of course wears down his walls and the two become close. I thought they had good chemistry and it was fun to watch their relationship unfold. It did bug me when she would call him "GI" since that feels more like an Army term and not a Marine endearment, at least to me. I was also a little bugged by how military wives were portrayed, having been a military wife for over ten years I would say that the majority are good, supportive wives. I've heard horror stories similar to the ones presented in this book, but I think they're pretty rare and definitely not the norm.
I liked the overall story. I was sucked in quickly with the prologue and opening chapters, it did slow a bit for me in the middle when she goes into hiding and the day-to-day with her and Eric became the main focus, but picked up again for the last part. I did enjoy the story though and it definitely kept me interested and turning the pages. I did figure out the stalker a little too early/easily, I wouldn't have minded if it had been more of a surprise. I appreciated the authors effort to write clean romantic suspense. I'll be checking out more of her books.
Content Romance: Clean, a few clean make-out scenes with emphasis on them not wanting to go further Language: None Violence: Mild-Moderate- stalking, kidnapping and beatings, talk of wondering hands Religious: None
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
The story follows a dancer and a marine meeting under unplanned circumstances. Chloe; a famous dancer in the LA laker Girls, is forced leaving everything behind to runaway from an obssessed stalker. Until the police are able to capture him, Chloe accepted the invitation of her best friend Parker to stay at his family house along with his twin brother Eric. Eric is a damaged soldier suffering from physical and emotional wounds, his best friend suicide and his recent divorce.... so he doesnt believe in being in contact around women. But when Chloe is shoved into his life, his 'No more women' status is put to the test.
When I first read the premise of the story, I was very excited to read it. But the execution of the story wasn't acheived as I imagined it. The story was okay; but one thing i truly didnt enjoy was the dialogue. It lacked any excitment or suspense and I found myself bored throughout reading. Also, the stalker was very obvious from the very beginning of the story, that's why i felt the lacking of suspense element. Character wise: Chloe and Eric were neutral. To be honest, I couldnt feel them at all; and their chemistry was a typical insta love story especially that part when she opened for the delievery man and Eric happened to help her in 'the situation'. All in all, the story ends on good terms with a happily ever after and a bonus short story on Parker's story is accompanied.
Dangerous Obsession by MM Roethig is a romantic suspense. I wasn’t sure if I would like Chloe but I absolutely did. She is a dancer for the LA Lakers but she is a real person who you will love and fight for and be terrified on her behalf as her crazy stalker escalates. Chloe comes to stay with her friend Parker after the stalker escalates. When he gets called out of town she then goes to stay with his twin brother Eric. Eric is a Marine who is home with injuries from the war; both physical and emotional. The author shares heartbreaking stories of what the soldiers go through both on the home front and while at war. Their relationship is a roller coaster; definitely not love at first sight. I highly recommend Dangerous Obsession if you like a book with a healthy dose of clean romance and a double dose of suspense.

Thanks to author M.M. Roethig. I received a digital copy of this book for a free read-to-review.
This is a very addictive quick read. I really like both the characters – Marine Eric & Lakers Girl Chloe, though it seems their romance started at an instant. It was easy to guess who the stalker is at the start of the book. There were very intense but clean romantic scenes, but probably a little too many. The violent scenes were written very well, I can visualise and feel the pain too. Overall I really like the book, and would look forward to more of the Taylor Family Saga. But I guess there’s only 1 other Parker to write about unless they have 5 brothers or sisters in the family.
2023 Jan It's about a girl that's a famous dancer and is stopped by a guy. The guy that's a doctor has actually been and has done this stocking before and murdered. She gets kidnapped eventually after leaving the area. Then rescued by the hero. It's still good. 2016 This was a really good book. I enjoyed the writing the storyline and the characters. I have to admit I had a hard time reading a certain part with some physical violence, but it was part of the story. It was clean and I loved the hero.
This book was a quick read. I loved Eric as a character so much. He was my favorite. I felt like the stalker was made too obvious and I felt myself screaming at the book when she was talking to him. I loved the tension between the characters and the drama of it all. Eric and Chloe's relationship did seem to spark a little too quickly for my liking, but I guess stressful situations will do that. Overall, I really enjoyed the read and would recommend it.
Chloe is a dancer she loved to dance.even though she has the looks and the fame she isn't the stereotype. she is actually cool and kind. But over the recent weaks she has been reviving anonymous gifts even an exaggerated engagement ring.this is when she begins to freak out.well there was a few more scary incidents including the obsessed guy breaking into her house this was what triggered the decision to stay away for while. Eric was a marine he has a past that haunts him too add in a obnoxious EX-wife who decides to leave him equal his life going down hill.his ex wife did destroy his trust in women and wanted nothing to do with them. Now he is at home nursing his emotional and physical wounds slowly. It was now that Eric's and Chloe's life intersects. From then on there was rapid development in their relationships whit a few ups and down with drama which i really appreciated.i just love the drama .More than half the story line is about the stalker i did have a hunch on who the stalker was but still it surprised me. the best part of the book i have to say is the prologue it had me hooked though it does give away the story line. After reading the prologue i had so many gaps to fill in and had to know the hows, wheres and whens. it was a great read i really liked it. I thank Sarah and the author for giving me a copy of this book>
So I just finished reading this book, and it was really good. When I started reading this book, I didn't really have high expectations of how the book would end. So when I read it through, I didn't just love the ending, I also loved how I got to learn the characters in the book. Getting to read about all these struggles the characters had , and how they got through them, by showing each other support and love, was just so fascinating.
- A big thanks to M.M. Roethig, for sending me a copy of her book. And I really look forward to reading other great works of her 'happily-ever-after' books.
This is the first book I've read written by M.M. Roethig and I was hooked to the bones!!!! Made me cry, fall in love, then cry again! Fantastic book! Chloe and Eric's story is amazing! And also the bonus novella, Parker's story too touched my heart! Loved it!! I'm excited to read more of M.M. Roethig's books! I wish there would be stories of Eric's friends too..
This is a book plus a short story. So... The book was good and I was going to give it three stars because I felt it was too long and the bad guy was too easy to pick out. The short story about Eric's twin, Parker, was great and I give it a five star making the this average out to a four. Will I read this book again? Probably not, but I will loan it out!
This novel is Chloe and Eric's story. Eric, an ex Marine sent home due to injuries in war time. Chloe is a dancer with the L. A. Lakers and being stalked. When the stalker leaves an engagement ring for her, she really gets scared. All gifts have been anonymous and left with security guards at the Lakers games. One night Chloe is attacked by said stalker and is encouraged by police to leave town for a time. Her friend Parker who happens to be Eric's brother invites her to Colorado to stay with him and his girlfriend. Parker is called away on business and Chloe is sent to Eric to stay. Eric is not happy as he has just ended a marriage. They get off to a rough start. What is soooo refreshing about this book is there is no cursing and no premarital sex. Is a great mystery and an engaging story.
A woman forced to leave her dream job finds herself in the care of someone who doesn't want her around after all security in her life has been stripped away... It's a suspenseful, heart wrenching plot and from the moment I started this book I was caught up in the story and the plight of the main characters. I found myself rooting for them both to open their hearts and let love heal them.
The author does a fantastic job of weaving in the clues without giving away the story, and the bonus story at the end is icing on the cake. If this book is a series, I will definitely be coming back for more.
