#2 in the series. Action-packed YA paranormal romance, set at Mistfalls Wilderness Camp, a series of island, populated by unusual individuals. The story is short enough that it makes for a fun and easy read. It also ends on a cliffhanger, encouraging reading of the next story in the series.

Something Missing

I liked the book despite its flaws. The plot is more intereting than I expected but as I read it I kept feeling that something was missing, call it character development or atmosphere, I found it lacking. Despite the plot, I found it difficult to engage in the story or the lives of the characters. Of course there are also the mechanical flaws. So here's my basic list of issues.

1) This book is riddled with typos, missing words, extra words, wrong words, which disrupt the flow of the story for the reader.

2) Events occur that are never explained. Where did Jesse really disappear to for 2 weeks and when he came back, why did no one ask him about his absence? Everyone acted as if he never left.

3) And then there's the 'deus ex machina' towards the end in the form of a recording device. Where did that come from? It was never mentioned previously but because of it . . . Never mind. Spoiler.

4) I personally don't like pugnacious main characters and Taylor is one. She insults people, beats them up, and is pretty clueless when it comes to relationships but the hot guy is still attracted to her. Why? I get that she grew up in a trailer park and never dated but she's not a five-year old. And, she must have had some experience with friends. But then we don't get any meaningful glimpse into her background to help us understand her. The same is true of others around her.

5) That brings me to atmosphere, which is part setting and part the characters' experience of the setting and together they can create a mood that serves as a kind of physical and emotional backdrop for the story and the inner struggles of the characters. The setting of islands shrouded in fog and connected by bridges, springs with glowing waters, a waterfall at midnight, dirty shacks as cabins, mysterious tunnels are all wonderful settings. But they are not experienced by the characters. The way the characters experience their world can tell us much about who they are and who they could become.

I'll probably read the next book because it has a decent plot but if its like this one it will be like eating a good meal to which the cook has forgotten to add seasoning.

I was given an ARC of this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Meant for an YA readership, so explored new romance and relationships, but no matter the age, humans can struggle with these things. What I liked most was the paranormal aspects, the mystery and how Taylor manages all the sudden changes and revelations that constantly berate her.

While some mysteries are revealed, there are plenty more puzzles - intriguing.

Well-written with an interesting cast of characters and a great sense of place. I am looking forward to book three. Thank you for the copy.

Normal human problems in a paranormal teen world. That is enough said to make a dram-filled YA read that is an interesting read and Morgan Rice does so well with her vampire series. I truly enjoy them.

This is a series that caught my attention earlier this year and I joined a few bookstagram gift groups and exchanges and received the whole series. I now have read the first two books in this series. This series for me brings back memories of the mid-2000s to 2010 when Vampires and Supernatural books were all the rage. For me, that is from about 14-15 years old to 24-25 years old. The other thing that I love about this particular series, is that each book isn't that big in comparison to a lot of other novels, which means that they are a nice easy read and hit the spot. It's great too if you feel that you want to read, but haven't got the concentration to sit with a big fat chunky read. Book #2 saw Taylor developing her skills and hanging out with her friends Bella and Quinn and her boyfriend Jesse. She was also recovering from what happened down in the vaults. Life though is about to get even harder for Taylor as Jesse's ex Rachel is back as a tutor and wants him back. She is also a rare genie and is determined to get Taylor out of the picture by having her killed or at least framed to look like the "bad girl". Taylor though is determined more than ever to prove everyone they are wrong and get to the bottom of things. She is also still having visions of her dad and a bit of her sister Jane. What happened to both of them? Taylor learns too at the end of the book, that she's not an ordinary vampire but a Blood Hybrid. What will be her boyfriend's reaction when she tells him what she is? This book ended on a cliffhanger and I am now looking forward to reading Book #3 Adore which hopefully will focus on Taylor's new ability and newfound status. This was also another book cleared off my physical bookshelf which has been a side goal this year.

3.5 out of 5 stars

The excessive mystery continues with this second installment in the series. The book leaves the reader asking more and more questions with getting very little answers. Don't get me wrong, so far it is a good book/series but it has the potential to be so much greater.

Likes:
- Easy to read - Similar to the first book, this installment was also easy to read and well described.
- More thorough character descriptions
- Nice progression to the storyline - It is nice to see a book not focus completely on the supernatural aspect. I like that we get to be a fly on the wall in the lives of the characters, the story doesn't solely rely on the characters being vampires, werewolves etc. It offers more. There are love interests, assassins, friendships, familial issues etc.

Dislikes:
- Short book in length - Similar to the first book, this is also on the shorter side. In my opinion, the first and second book should have been combined because the first book almost feels like a preview of the story where the world and characters were described rather than the actual story.
- Way too many loose ends - There were a lot of questions that arose in the first book that were still not answered, in fact we are left with more questions than before.

It can sometimes get frustrating when you as a reader are being met with a mystery one after another. That being said, I am interested to see how/if the author is going to tie up all the loose ends in the following books.

Taylor Knight continues to struggle at the wilderness camp her stepmother sent her to after her father’s death. Even the few friends she made seem wary of her. Now she has a counselor as determined to undermine her as a jealous student. And no one believes her. Well, almost no one.

I may have been too generous in my five stars for the first book. I liked the storyline despite it being geared toward teenagers, but the second book instantly dumped an antagonist for another and didn’t address it. Then I started noticing the weird discrepancies that made me wonder if a real editor, who read both books back to back, might shape this book up better.

This book picks up where we left off in book one, I've said it before, this author has a gift of taking us on a roller coaster of emotions as we follow these so relatable character struggle thru teen years into early adulthood. And of course the author leaves you the apex of a cliff, so longing for the next book. Can't wait to get on the roller coaster again. Thanks Morgan for such an enjoyable book series. Excellent writing, masterful story telling, she rants among some of the great authors both past and present.

This book continues with Taylor and her friends at the “camp.” The story continues with them learning who they are and what powers each has, and trials to master them. This time there is a jealous counselor who happens to be the boy she likes ex. This is once again a fast moving story with danger and drama. I enjoyed the way Taylor is learning more about herself and has made strong friendships.

3 stars

I'm giving these book series 3 stars because they are so short. This author has only thought about the profit she will make off each book. So I'm stopping right here with this purchase I'm not paying for books that only has under 200 pages that can be read in just a couple of hours. A good author usually has enough pages to keep the readers satisfied. The series should have been anywhere from 4 to 6 books. GREEDY AUTHOR!!!! WAY WAY TOO SHORT AND TOO COSTLY FOR MY TASTE

Another 5 star read from Morgan Rice

This is book 2 of the Wish series books and it did not disappoint. Her writing style is perfectly fast paced with all the details you need to see her world. You continue the story of your favorite characters and I love that she keeps you guessing, even in a YA book. It's very rare the 2nd Book in a series is just as good as the first. I will definitely be continuing this series. So glad I found her books.

Who are they really after?

More security. More attacks. More secrets. More tunnels. Taylor is letting down her guard and letting Jessie just in time for the arrival of trouble in the form of an ex-girlfriend with evil on her mind.

This is shaping up to be a great series but I expect no less from Morgan Rice. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Wow, there are so many ups and downs Taylor has to go through in this book with her friends and her crush. This book was a page-turner as on each page, someone was setting her up, and the ending was a shock to me. Now, on to the next book to read more because this series is so good and unique, with supernatural powers and interactions.

The plot failed to deliver the promised excitement of vampires and werewolves, leaving me disappointed with the focus on a bitter ex seeking revenge on Jesse's new girlfriend.
Despite my curiosity about the mystery surrounding Taylor's dad, it falls short of compelling me to invest further in the series, leaving an overall feeling of dissatisfaction with the storyline.

I stayed up all night until I finished Desire.

I absolutely loved this book! Just when I thought I had every situation and person figured out, I was dumbstruck by just how wrong I was. I've read quite a few of Morgan Rice's books, but none so far has sent me reeling like this series. I can't wait to start book three!

I am enjoying how this series is progressing. I enjoyed how this story picks up only a few months since the ending of the first book. I am very intrigued by this world and all the secrets within it. Very easy read. Would recommend to YA vampire and paranormal lovers who prefer lighter shorter reads.

I enjoyed reading this continuation of the "Wish" series and look forward at some point to reading other books in the series. The further development of the characters in this book was good. The story possibly didn't have as many surprises in it as the first book but still had enough in it to want you to continue reading.

I love the plot. From discovering her father might be alive to an assassin trying to kill her to Jesse’s ex girlfriend, Rachel, causing trouble, to learning that she is a blood moon hybrid, the sorry just flows. It is an easy read and I like discovering Taylor’s powers as she goes!! Such a good series!!

One more step towards her true life.

This second book just adds to the mystery of what is our "girl". But so much is in a mess and no answers are forthcoming. Just more uncertainty.

Ugh the grammatical errors! Who edited this book?! BUT what is it about these books that also have me hooked?! I’d rate it much higher if it didn’t read like a seventh grader wrote it because I’m still very intrigued and definitely want to read more in the series.

This book was a quick read, but left me with more questions than answers. It is definitely YA and the language and story telling reflects this. I just feel like something is missing to make this a hit for me, but I find myself wanting to continue the story, mostly because the books are so short and I want to finally figure out WTH is going on!
