I should preface this review by saying I did read the whole series. I’m not going to write individual reviews because I just feels repetitive when my opinion barely changes from book to book. I think this whole series really felt like a fan fiction to a mix of twilight, the vampire diaries and a few others. I did like some of the over all arching story but REALLY struggled with the characters. I didn’t like almost anyone’s whole story arc and did not like the ending of this series.
Also while I do like who she ended up with I hate brother’s being the rival to one girl and felt like the other brother ended up with the worst arc of them all.

Crave
Crave is the first book in the Crave series and this was just a fantastic way to start off a new series. I was just completely drawn into this world with all of its amazing characters. There was just so much going on with this story you were just constantly learning new things about this world. I can’t wait to see where the author takes this series.

Crush is the second book in the Crave series and it picks up months after the ending of Crave, the first book in the series. I just loved getting to reenter this world and see what is currently going on. I am just absolutely loving this world. The characters are just so great and I just love that we got to meet some new ones and that a family was formed. There is just so much going on in this story and the ending. Oh my goodness. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

This is a decent young adult level series that reminds me of the Vampire Diaries Legacies world since it is set at a school for supernatural students. After watching that show, it pretty much led to how I pictured some of the characters in my head. I didn't this when I started reading so I will give you a heads up. Charm actually takes place in the timeline between Crave and Crush, but is best read after Court. It really depends if you like spoilers or not.

Read the whole series cause I’m a completionist, but the last book was hard for me to finish, I lost interest a lot. Absolutely loved Hudson though, might be top 3 book boyfriend for me. Story of girl who loses her parents and is sent to boarding school in Alaska where her uncle/cousin live and she discovers that werewolves, vampires, witches, dragons, and gargoyles exist.

I found this series after finishing Midnight Sun and wanting to continue the story.. As the covers were similar I gave them a try.
Loved them. Not crazy about the final book, but the other 5 books were amazing. I immediately re-red them again they were so good.

books 2-5 were fabulous! book 1 read like twilight fanfic to me, which made the book difficult to get through. don’t get me wrong I do love twilight, but wished book 1 didn’t draw as many parallels for me. book 6 was 50/50. overall 5 stars because I would definitely reread books 2-5 and maybe 6.

🧠 Thoughts
I think this series could not justify the point of sending vampires to school. Seriously, what was a 200 y/o dude could gain by going to high school? The more I read about it, the more ridiculous it sounded.
I think there are too many characters in this series, that it was hard to even remember some of them (I just realized about Byron, Rafael, and Liam’s existence when they died!). And other characters that has potential were ignored, like Gwen Zhou. Macy, Grace's long-term friend, was also simply forgotten the moment Grace came to Katmere, while Eden suddenly entered their group.
Instead of exploring the magic and the world, the author wasted 6 books focusing on this one very annoying, self-righteous excuse of a female character. So disappointing! It was like the author took too much ingredients, but didn’t manage to even bake a decent cake. Here was the list of the plot holes that I noticed:
- There was even barely any potions from the witches except for portals. And where was their wands?! Barely any mention on the vampires that were “made.” The world's history didn't really seem to stretch that long for someone who could live for hundreds of years
This series has too many plot holes to be any more than OK. And the more I think about the plot holes, the worse the series becomes…
Also, the author kept on mentioning there are so many paranormals in the world, like mermaid, selkies, chupacabra, fairies, gryffins, valkeries, fairies, gryffins, valkeries, but the group barely met any of them besides the dragon, wolves, vampires, witches, and gargoyles?!
Isn’t there only ever been two Vampire ruler in their so-called 4000 years of history? The Bloodletter and Cyrus, then Bloodletter again?! Also, there seemed to be a lot of other great people in this world, but the author made it seems that these group of kids are the only one competent enough to make a difference 🙄
Besides the jokes and the “friendship, this series is so so poorly written (yes, just like this review, but I guess the series did not worth my time to edit and polish the review).
They mentioned that Cyrus kidnapped everyone in Katmere, including the faculties. But when the gang tried to safe the students from Cyrus dungeon, there seemed to be no faculty at all there. Also, The Insider's Guide insisted that Katmere has the best faculties, but they were so easily beaten by Cyrus's army?
The moment Jaxon stopped being Grace’s mate, it was almost like his power stopped being “powerful” or even useful. It was like he stopped using it at all.
I guess a story where the female MC was a Gargoyle was the first one for me. Interesting. Even though the background, the power that she possessed, the concept of magic was kind of forced.
