The small town of Hope Montana cuts itself off as the world ends around it. Little more than a village all alone in the mountains struggling to survive the worst of dystopoian disasters.
Jake Roberts is an outsider. A young man fighting to belong while the world crumbles. Torn between helping others and trying to remain detached. As the town and its people fight to survive both the plague and each other, Jake is caught in the middle of it all. How do people live when they lose contact with civilization? What happens when people lose what they have taken for granted? Food, electricity, and security. All of it gone, and worse, never coming back.
Mia Burk is left caring for her foster brother and sister as the world ends. A situation no seventeen-year-old girl should be put through. This new heavy burden of responsibility forces her to do things she would never consider if life was normal. But this new world means she and her family must do whatever is necessary to live.
Two people fighting to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where every rule has changed.
I enjoyed this book the best so far in this series. My only concern was the grammatical mistakes. Oh boy! But the plot, characters and flow if the book was fantastic.
My only real complaint was that there was no mention of how boring the winter must have been or what Jake did during his repeated quarantine times. It also annoyed me that Jake's name wasn't cleared! I know in a "perfect world", they would have believed him in the end- but with it not being a perfect world, it made sense to run. But it irked me. I kept waiting for Wilson to find them and tell Jake that he'd convinced them what ungrateful jerks they were being so they could go back to Hope. This ending was probably more realistic, but I was indignant on Jake's behalf.
Also noticed that there was no mention of Erikson's other sons, who I'm pretty sure were mentioned as being in the car with him. ?
Editing was much better...but still needs a lot of work! Again, Nate, if you are reading this, I volunteer! No charge!
Unfortunately, there is another book in the series. I'd planned on being extremely productive today. But I don't see that happening now. Im off to Alaska!

The End of Hope by Nate Johnson is an end of the world tale that takes place in Hope, Montana. Mia is a teenager taking care of her foster brother and sister after her foster mother unexpectedly dies. add a mysterious handsome stranger, Jake, who makes Mia's toes curl and things get to hopping. i absolutely loved this book. it checked all the boxes and helped me lose myself in the post-apocalyptic world Nate Johnson had created. this was Book Four in a series, but i hadn't read any of the others and had no problem following because of this. The End of Hope is highly recommended. 4 1/2 stars out of 5.
I started this series thinking it was going to be a younger adult genre I would probably give up on. As a 50 year old woman I absolutely loved every book. I look forward to the next. I started the first a few days ago and just finished the 4th. Very few grammatical errors, which is nice. A very different post apocalypse story. Awesome characters you grow to love and I really loved how each book was about a different group of people who all end up coming together. Great Author!
I was looking to finish up this year's reading challenge and decided to give this author a try. I'm not reading the books in order, which I regret, but reading this one lead me to choose more in this series. I'm not sure if this series is geared towards the teenager crowd, but although I'm a lot older than that, I found the book enjoyable. Enjoyable enough to continue with the series. Author writes very well and very little typos, which is a wonderful contrast to the last few books I read. Some of the story is quite predictable, but it's still a delight to read.
This book like the others in the set is hard to put down and at times may have kept me up a little later than planned but such things should be expected when reading a great story. I sure hope his wife has coconut shampoo or some one should get her some 😊thanks for the great work that brought me many smiles even in a horrible end of the world story ,you through in a nice dose of hope with lots of love as well.
The End of Hope is such a great book and I literally could not put it down. The weather is wonderful and I can sit outside and read to my heart's content and that won't be until I have read my fill of The End of Everything series. I read it in one go and I'm hoping to read the last book The End of the Road in the same way. I truly recommend it to anyone.
Good ideas in this book. Does need an edit, wrong words used at times and punctuation isn't always correct. It is a series. This story does have a HEA but we see the characters in the next book.
This book is based in the small town that was cut off by the bridge that the Hero of a previous book met.
Boy, what a great story. Nate has done it again. A great story along with a great cast of characters. I just love books with happy endings. The way he has tied all the books together is phenomenal. I recommend reading.
We are blessed once again to have another story from another point of view And some different parts of the city. The reader should be happy to find that the spirit, still abounds with good people.
I truly liked this book, the story is very original. I do have a problem with how many typos there are. It really does distract from the story. Nate, you really need an editor.
