Recent research in light therapy has yielded remarkable new insights into the role of natural and artificial light in our body rhythms, daily routines, concentration level, and our physical and emotional well-being.
Straightforward introduction to the effect of light on overall health, mood, sleep, and disease.
For eighteen years, I have suffered with Non-24 Sleep Disorder, a severe disruption in Circadian rhythms due to my inability to see light, characterized most noticeably by my inability to sleep. My interest in this book was derived from that situation, and it covered the basics well, - explaining Circadian rhythms, clarifying the role of light as it affects our health, etc. I didn't learn much that was new to me, but for anyone who has never considered the role of, or benefits from, sunlight, this would be a great starting point.
This book is twenty years old, and I'm curious to know if research has further defined the role that light plays in our lives. From personal experience, I can say that just this year, the FDA approved the first medication to treat my non-24 disorder, and I am sleeping, and feeling, better than I have in 18 years! So it seems that science is beginning to take the presence or absence of light much more seriously, as it relates to health.
