Darius and Beth's Story . . .
Beth Cunningham is trying to get past the loss, emptiness, and grief she has experienced. She stopped in a seedy bar and ordered a drink, but there was no solitary place to sit. Then she saw a stranger looking like he also grieved, so she asked if she could sit down just to finish her drink. The drink furiously burned her insides until the stranger waved a hand and changed the contents so it would no longer burn. The laughter of the bar patrons turned to scowls that he had ruined their cruel fun. She told him her deceased husband and she had made an agreement for the survivor to come here, have two drinks, and remember the good times. Then they should do something crazy to mark the start of a new life. Darius offered her his friendship and she learned about magic since he is a wizard. Beth doesn’t judge him for the past he is ashamed of. She cares about him as a person. She sees the real person he is, having shown her kindness.
So when danger and evil approach, they must work together against the dark magic. They fall in love, although it had not been planned that way. Now Beth fears she will lose another who is precious to her. Is their love strong enough to last through the evil they face? Or will their own fears weaken them?

Captivating, suspenseful, and adorable
Where to begin. This book had me gripped pretty quickly as things in Rock Falls are NOT going well. Things are an absolute mess and only get worse as the story unfolds. The secrets and connections revealed had me gasping and eager to find out what happened next. Top all this chaos and bombshells off with the budding romance between friends and you're bouncing between anxiety over the state of the world and frustration over the relationship that you're screaming at to work out already! This is far from the end for our stories in Rock Falls, I have no doubt, but I'm loving this world more and more!

What I was looking for in the fourth book in the Rock Falls series, it worked with the other books in the series. The characters were what I was hoping for and thought it was perfect for the story. It left me wanting to read more in this series and author.

Beth is trying to forge a future after dealing with significant loss in her life and living with grief. When she meets Darius she welcomes their friendship and enters a world of magic that she never knew existed. Darius is a wizard who longs to be accepted, but he's afraid his past makes him unworthy. He treasures his relationship with Beth because she cares about who he is, not what he is. When evil strikes putting everyone in danger and threatening their blooming relationship, they must fight to save their bond and their people.
I really enjoyed this book which was an amazing read. Beth and Darius make a great couple and I loved the way they came together. The book's a captivating paranormal romance with intrigue and suspense. Sammi Mason is an excellent author who tells wonderful stories with well-rounded characters and fast-paced plots. I was drawn into this magical tale from the beginning and kept hooked throughout. I highly recommend both book and series.
