It all begins with a normal school day for Tim and his Ted and their teacher, Miss Wait. She decides to tell the class a story and Tim hopes for an adventure at sea while Ted hopes for a tale about pirates.

So the pupils and Ted sit around Miss Wait, who tells them she is going to read from 'Little Bear's Daring Deeds'. Tim and Ted close their eyes, Miss Wait starts to read and, for Tim and Ted, the room suddenly fills with water as a dolphin glides in through the door.

The dolphin invites Tim and Ted to go for a swim and they climb aboard and off they go and this is where the fun begins. They arrive at Loot Island where pirates hang out but before they can explore, a shark eats them for lunch. Fortunately Tim has a flashlight so he is able to look around inside the shark. He sees heaps of treasure but before he can examine it a hook comes into the shark's mouth and snatches the chest of treasure away.

The pirates have hooked it out and their captain says, 'Heave-ho me hearties! We'll soon have our gold back on deck!' But they are not expecting what happens next as it suddenly looks like a monster is being hauled in for Tim, Ted and the shark are on the end of the chest.

Brave little Ted orders the pirates to surrender and tells them that he is going to put them in jail. But the pirates don't give up easily and cutlasses clatter and clash as a fight ensues. Fortunately Tim and Ted are the winners and the pirates walk the plank and splash into the sea ...

Suddenly Tim is startled as he hears Miss Wait shouting at him that he has knocked his drink over and she gets him a cloth to wipe it all up. Tim's Mum meets him after school and asks how his day was to which Tim tells her that they didn't do much, just reading and writing and fighting pirates 'and such' ... what an exciting day and Russell Ayto's illustrations complement Ian Whybrow's dream of a story excellently.

Not a big fan of this one. I liked the imagination, but the pictures were not my favorite.

Cute story about a boy and his bear who so desperately want to hear a pirate story, that they drift off and dream about pirates during storytime. There might be a bit much going on to use it for an actual storytime, though.
