At twenty-six, Cassandra DeCicco thought she had life figured out and her future all mapped out. She had the guy, the wedding, the job, and the house—until she didn’t. A shocking betrayal turned her fairy tale into a nightmare, and she spiraled down a deep emotional hole, fueled by all the wrong things (plenty of wine and heaps of self-loathing). With time, self-work, and looking inward, she was able to take her healing into her own hands, regain her self-worth, and become the person she wanted to be. In It’s Temporary, Babe , Cassandra writes honestly about her journey from heartbreak to finding happiness on her own terms. Cassandra DeCicco is a thirty-something New Yorker who hopes to inspire others with her personal story and the tools and lessons learned along the way, so they realize they aren’t alone in their struggles and that it will eventually get better.
What a wonderful book on a woman’s journey from thinking she’s living her fairytale love story with her Prince Charming to have that disrupted and overcoming it all with finding the greatest love of all, herself. The author is funny and relatable which makes the book an easy, light read and I was left wanting more. I also love the exercises in between chapters to practice all the great advice. The exercises are simple yet truly make you think and I will use again as a template for when I need to check in with myself. Overall would one hundred percent suggest this book to anyone who is looking to find true love, one with yourself and learning to trust yourself no matter what happens in life.

I couldn’t put this book down. The rawness of the author was moving and her personal accounts were relatable. I took a great amount of comfort from her stories and the advice she offers including topics of learning to be with (and love) yourself and feeling like you’re reinventing yourself when forced to start over. It made me feel less alone on my journey. I love the interactive element of the journaling prompts at the end of each chapter. It helped to reflect and I will definitely go back and use these prompts in the future!
