Η αλήθεια είναι ότι αυτή τη φορά η ιστορία δεν με ξετρέλανε και τόσο, μιας και επικεντρώθηκε περισσότερο στο οικονομικό κομμάτι των επιχειρήσεων του Λάργκο Γουίντς, κάτι που με άφησε λίγο αδιάφορο. Προτιμώ μια κάποια ισορροπία, να υπάρχουν μεν οι οικονομικές ίντριγκες, αλλά να υπάρχει και λίγη δράση, ε; Το σχέδιο, φυσικά, παραμένει πολύ όμορφο.

This volume takes a few steps back as it features too much foreshadowing and financial jargon and not enough plot progression and action. A little too macho with a ridiculous gold digger side story and a half baked take on Green Arrow makes this one a flop at 2.5/5

Largo ne fait pas l'unanimité au sein du conseil d'administration. Plusieurs personnes le trouvent trop jeune et inexpérimenté pour diriger un aussi grand groupe. Ils le dénigrent et le dévalorisent afin de le convaincre de profiter de ses millions et de les laisser gérer.
Sullivan et Cochrane essaient de le convaincre de lancer une OPA sur Fenico, une holding appartenant à un redoutable homme d'affaire. Or la situation semble trop favorable à Largo qui sent venir un piège.
En même temps, il est poursuivit par un homme du fisc américain qui lui réclame des millions et semble également être la cible de l'archer vert.
Un tome trépidant!

De titel (Openbaar Overname Bod) geeft aan dat er nogal wat beursgerelateerd jargon en boekhoudkundige uiteenzettingen in dit album staan, veel blabla over belastingsontduikende trucjes en het belang van overnames. Maar dit gaat gelukkig gepaard met die cocktail waardoor Largo Winch al 35 jaar graag gelezen wordt : een sterk in mekaar getimmerd verhaal vol intriges, actie, mooie vrouwen,... Samen met het prachtige tekenwerk van Francq vormt dit een niet te weerstane cocktail.

I'm not too impressed with the series so far. I don't care that much for its focus on corporate dealings and investments. I was also taken aback by its portrayal of women, whose only role in the story to be fucked or to die and give an extra bit of motivation to the main characters (usually both!). I don't think Van Hamme's other writings are feminist masterpieces, but usually in his writing's women at the very least seem to have more going on than what I described before.

C'est un sale métier
Als Angestellter habe ich schon beide Seiten eines Firmenverkaufs mitgemacht. Andere Firmen aufzukaufen und selbst aufgekauft zu werden ist eine komplizierte und langwierige Sache, inbesondere, wenn Aktien im Spiel sind. O.P.A. stellt das ganze schon auf einer realistischen Ebene dar - leider habe ich durch meine Erfahrung das meiste davon verstanden, was andere Rezensenten als "over the top financial talk" bezeichnen. Es ist wirklich ein schmutziges Geschäft. Nein, es ist sogar ein "métier dégueulasse", wie eine Protagonistin mehr und mehr selbst erkennt, denn selbst bei halbwegs freundlichen Übernahmen, die in der Fachpresse gefeiert wird, fallen die Mitarbeiter, die sich beträchtlich umstellen müssen, hinten runter.

Selbstverständlich konzentriert sich dieser 3. Band der "Largo Winch"-Reihe auf die Vorstände der Konzerne, die sich da gegenseitig angreifen. Für die ist das alles ein Spiel, und wenn so ein Spiel dann noch durch einen Ökoterroristen, Pfeile aus dem Nichts (das kommt mir irgendwie auch bekannt vor...) und amouröse Verwicklungen garniert wird, wird das ganze vielleicht sogar für die lesbar, die sonst vor dem Talk der Wallstreet-Boys davonlaufen.

One of the complex comic albums I have read! To take a complicated plot like this and to present it is such a interesting manner is what makes the author one of the best out there!

Months after taking over the W group, the top heads of the group convinces Largo to make an acquisition of a rival empire.

The plan proposed is excellent
The options to put this plan into action seems viable
The legality of the acquisition is perfect
The 2 billions dollars cash to make it happen is conjured up

And yet, Largo is hesitant to sign. Something bothers him. It all just seems too easy. But in the end he signs the papers to put the plan into action.

Meanwhile, on a separate line, we have a killer who targets the top personnel of big empires in the name of protecting the environment.

Though this is probably one of the heaviest Largo Winch albums on the money talk, I quite like it, possibly rating it in my favorites. I think the love story with Mellie (who graces the cover with her beautiful self) balances the O.P.A. stuff quite well. I actually really like the Mellie character, and not just because she’s awesome cute. I also think the story is very well constructed and it’s interesting to watch Largo fall into the trap (even if he has suspicions) while you know something bigger is happening behind the scenes.
