Waaaay too much narration, but a bold idea.

I love the art, and how it reflects so many different styles with the realism to tie it all back in.

So far I'm very confused about the story, and it seems a bit like author-lives-out-fantasy which doesn't ever really work for me. Not sure what the plan is, here.

Messy, but an intriguing idea and absolutely gorgeous artwork. Curious to see where the next issue goes.

Something Epic by Szymon Kudranski hits shelves on May 10 and I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy. The story follows a young latch-key kid named Danny who has the ability to see the land of imagination around him—imaginary friends, artist ideas, human musings, etc. Being the only one who can see these things makes for a lonely life, compounded by the fact his single mother often leaves him alone to go to work. Danny mostly ignores the magical world around him, looking Instead for someone who might share his abilities and offer some much-needed friendship. While Kudranski’s first issue is primarily set up, he is able to draw readers in with carefully constructed sympathy and some great art which changes style depending on what type of imaginary entities Danny is witnessing. It’s a beautiful comic with much more to offer and I’m on board to see where it goes. #imagecomics #ncbd #comicreviews #comicbookart #fantasycomics #newcomics

Humans are simply a collection of atoms and biochemical compounds that have their masses aligned to these senses. Only soul is intangible.

Teenager, Danny and is being raised by a single mother. On his own time, he journeys into his imagination. Reminiscent of myself growing up in the late 1980s, 1990s. I experienced a trauma at 4.5 years that left me comatose for 3 weeks. At the age of 29, I finally got diagnosed with ADHD.

I love the artwork. It's phantasmagorical.

Szymon is a boring writer and the artist is also not very good.
The premise is interesting, but the story never gets there, it prances around the subject like the author doesn't know where to go with it.

I won't bother to finish it.

A triumphant bold imaginative debut for what promises to be one of the great series of 2023. Kudranski's premise is both exciting and full of limitless potential: A boy named Daniel can see our physical world and the realm of imagination where past and present ideas and creations exist. Seems like a lot of people are cranky about what they deem to be excessive exposition. I'm not sure what the complaint is about. The writing is elevated and insightful. The words weave perfectly around Kudranksi's masterful detailed art; what's not to love? Yeah, I'm 100% on board: Full take at:

There's way too much info being dropped. At least the comic acknowledges that it's just info dumping on the reader on page 7-8. The verbose narration makes this comic a bit of a drag. A lot of the text isn't needed as it's not really saying anything, except trying to sound profound. It doesn't. The art is good, so an extra star for that.

I liked this enough to want the next issue. It didn’t give much right off the bat, so excited to see where this goes. I only did 4, because it was a bit wordy, possibly, too much? Interested in what will happen.

Looks promising. Especially after I saw the variant covers.
