Brinnswick Story #1

The Human's Incubus

Rate this book
When an incubus tells you he’s your soulmate, do you stay and listen or run and never look back? I’ve spent most of my life knowing that supernatural creatures exist but never really interacting with any, so my knowledge of them is limited. Still, who would’ve thought a demisexual incubus was a thing? Well apparently, not only is it a thing, but I have one who claims to be my soulmate—or viramore, as he calls it. And now he has it in his head that he’s going to save me from my past. I think he might have a few screws loose, but something about him intrigues me, and I find myself drawn into his orbit. Could he be telling the truth? Could he really be my soulmate? Or should I be running from him the way I’m running from my enemies?
The Human’s Incubus is the first book in A Brinnswick Story series and is a MM paranormal romance. This series takes place in the Ellwood Chronicles and Brinnswick Chronicles world, but it's not necessary to read those series first in order to enjoy this one.

Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.

She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

As much as it pains me ... it is only 3,5 stars for this book.
It can definitely be read as a standalone and makes me want to read all the stories before again ... but the story in itself would have been better as a novella (I can't believe I say that about a book 🙈)

Zay is a sweetheart, and I really liked him. I would have loved to get to know him better. Unfortunately, I got the impression that the focus was more on Hugo, and his story was not as well defined as it should have been.
And, he annoyed me a bit with his constant disbelief and doubts.

I really hope the next book will be Kians.

All in all, a nice read

Oftentimes when a "sequel series" stands alone there's too much weight to the previous story for it to be so. And while the previous characters are still relevant, the story actually does stand alone.
I really liked this. It's a nice mix of sweet and exciting with a fresh set of characters. The only thing I could even think of complaining is that sometimes tiny details don't get explained, but nothing that would make the story hard to understand. I'm actually looking forward to the new adventures of the new generation of Elwoods. It's bound to be good!

The Human’s Incubus is a standalone story set in Michele Notaro’s Brinnswick Chronicles/Ellwood Chronicles timeline. Based on the timeline in the back of the book, this comes after all the events in the other stories and concerns a younger generation of characters. I have not read any of the prior stories and thought this book worked well enough on its own. That said, fans of earlier books featuring Zaos’ grandparents (Sebastian and Ailin) will probably enjoy the big cameos the elders get (and, to a lesser extent, Zaos’ parents Talon and Obidri’s cameo).

Totally a stalker 👀 😂

Zay and Hugo were just too freaking sweet. I seriously didn't see the reason behind Hugo's trouble beforehand, talk about carrying a grudge. I'm looking forward to seeing how Hugo's chooses to stay with Zay for the long haul, I can't wait for my next visit with the Brinnswick coven.

Hugo & Zaos

This story is a great start to this new series. I haven't read the two connected series but I don't feel like I missed anything. I do, however, now want to go back and read them both. I look forward to book two for this one.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

I LOVED this book. It was like coming home. Being back in Brinnswick with the Ellwoods was a hoy. Even though this is a new generation, new faces, they're still the Ellwoods. Which means crazy, and so full of love all at the same time.
Zaos is just about the sweetest person ever and I loved him so much. He's so shy but charming when he wants to be and is just.. *sigh* he's perfect.
Hugo may be human but he is the perfect match for Zaos. And even though I wanted to shake him every time he didn't believe that he was Zaos's viramore, he was a great guy, too.
I could read about this family every day and am so so glad the author decided to tell more stories about this family.

A really good start!

I haven't read the previous two series (The Ellwood Chronicles, starred by Sebastian and Ailin, and The Brinnswick Chronicles, started by characters I haven't met yet), but it was not necessary for me to understand what happens in this book or how things work in this universe.

I will definitely be reading them, though. I need to know how Seb and Ailin met and everything that happened to them!!

Going back to this book, we meet Hugo and Zaos. The first one is a human barely hanging on, surviving his past and working hard to keep food in his belly and a roof over his head. But then one night he gets jumped and if not because of his maybe-stalker stepping in to save him, who knows how that would have ended.

But Zaos appears and takes him home to tend to his wounds. And when Hugo wakes up and finds the most gorgeous creature, an incubus nothing less, who says he's his viramore, his fated mate… how could he believe it?

This first book was mostly about them getting to know each other, about them falling in love and about Hugo discovering the supernatural world Zaos lives in as well as his big (really, really big) family. And about Hugo accepting the bond between them, too.

Could this have been shorter? Maybe, if we consider the plot. But… why? I didn't get bored at any time; I loved seeing them just being, and it was interesting, sweet and hot, too. Maybe it's me being an addict of slow paced romances, but I enjoyed it so much! Fated Mates are probably the only trope that makes me tolerate instalove, but I love when authors take their time to develop the relationship even when they are supposed to ve made for each other. And we have that here.

Zaos knows Hugo is the one for him since the first time he sees him while he's working. But he too needs time to turn that natural pull he feels into something deeper. And Hugo, a human that never thought viramores to be real, can't just accept a stranger as his love from one day to the other. Them being together, seeing Zaos become possessive and Hugo feel more confident and special with each day they spend together, was truly nice to read.

This being the first book and it being mostly focused on their bond, the rest of the plot is not that complicated. We have something risking Hugo's safety and forcing them to be together, and that's it. But I'm sure there will be time for more plot in the future, since these two's adventures will continue in the next book (and I hope to see more of Zaos's lil brother and maybe of Hugo's best friend too).

I will definitely wait for more to come, and while waiting I will try reading the previous series!!

ARC received from GRR for an honest review

Hugo is a human hiding out from a man he used to work for. When he meets Zaos he's not in any frame of mind to turn down the help. He's suspicious of Zaos but willing to stay and get to know him.

Zaos is an demisexual incubus. This caused problems for himself as a child but he was lucky to be adopted into the Ellwood family. Now he's going to school and stalking his viramore (soulmate).

These two are barely getting to know each other when trouble comes calling in the name of Bart. A crazy scheme to draw Bart out and capture him is concocted. Will their plan cover all the bases when they find out what Bart is?

This is a really slow fantasy/paranormal/romance; emphasis on the really slow. In the first half of the book not much happens. Hugo is attacked and Zaos takes him home to recover. Then it's page after page of healing, watching movies, eating and day to day activities. There's no progression of getting Hugo's problem solved. The arrival of Zaos's family members wasn't even that exciting IMO. Then around 65% things start to happen but it's still kind of slow and lackluster. I understand Zaos is demisexual and has issues from his childhood but with Hugo being his soulmate I felt like it still was too slow going. Then when the sexy times started they weren't very exciting. Onto the capturing of Hugo's ex-boss Bart. It's short, and lackluster too. There's no info on why Bart has an issue with Ailin Ellwood. It's mentioned that Ailin knows him but that's it. Maybe it's mentioned in the previous books but that didn't help here. I wanted to know what was the issue Bart had? Why did he go bad? Also I wanted to know more about Hugo and Zaos's childhood. Zaos mentions his some and the outcome when he's adopted. What happened to his family members? Not much is mentioned of Hugo's past but a few sentences about his parents and sister. I felt like I was missing out on too much. There's the thing about Zaos going back to school after taking care of Hugo for a week. All his professors, except one is okay with him being gone. The last professor isn't okay and is glaring at him in class. What's up with that? I think IRL this wouldn't be happening. Also this is not a standalone book IMO. There's too much mentioned about past books and characters. It left me feeling like I was missing a whole lot in the world and character building. I usually love this author's works but this one was not for me sadly.

Zaos and Hugo's story was an absolutely adorable hurt/comfort romance, with a brand new storyline and plenty of Ellwood family cameos for readers of the original series. The majority of the book focused on Zaos caring for Hugo after being mugged on the way home from work, and the softer, slower pace really allowed me to bask in their growing viramore bond. Hugo was such a pessimistic skeptic at first, but over quiet days of hanging out and getting to know each other, I could see how safe and happy Zaos made him feel. Zaos was gone for Hugo from the very start, and I couldn't get enough of his sweet affection and need to take care of Hugo. The two of them balanced each other out perfectly, and even a bunch of boring days spent at home felt special because I could see them beginning to open up and trust each other. Of course, that's when the Ellwoods decided to come check on Zaos, and then Hugo's presence turned into a whole big thing, but it was all because of how protective and loving the family was to all of their members. It was kinda fun to experience the Ellwoods through an outsider's eyes again, and though they were definitely overprotective and overwhelming, they warmed to Hugo quickly and made him feel like part of the family. The Ellwoods have always been such a cozy, warm presence in these books, and it was wonderful to feel some of that again and see how strong their family ties have remained. When Hugo had the hair-brained idea to use himself as bait to lure out his muggers, I wanted to cringe, but I knew Zaos and his family would protect him the whole time. I can't say I was thrilled by how chaotic their mission turned out, but it all worked out okay in the end. Zaos and Hugo left off on a really happy note, with Hugo finally accepting that he was Zaos's viramore and embracing every part of him and his powers, but I'm eager to see what happens next for the two of them!

terrific new story from connecting series, love the characters

Rating: 4🌈

I really enjoy Michele Notaro’s work so I immediately picked up her release, The Human's Incubus: A Brinnswick Story 1 . It’s the first in a new series but one that’s connected with two of her other larger series, and shared universe . Those would be the Ellwood Chronicles and Brinnswick Chronicles world.

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve read any of those books, but I will be after meeting some of the characters who crossed over from there into this story to help out our main characters.

That would be Hugo, a human with an angst-filled history and Zaos, an incubus with an emotional backstory who’s determined that Hugo is his viramore, his soulmate.

Unlike Michele Notaro's The Magi Accounts series which I’m reading and throughly in love with, this isn’t the dark fiction that is. While it does contain hints about Zay’s horrific childhood, that’s all it’s got. See the author’s trigger warning. It does seem it’s more from the narrative in another series.

And that’s a bit of an issue as far as the world building goes. That the knowledge of the world is assumed because of the other series. There’s enough of a framework to fill in some necessary details but the overall structure isn’t quite there.

Does it spoil a terrific story? No. I loved getting to know Hugo and Zay, watching them navigate their way through Hugo’s problems, the idea of their bond, Zaos’ large family, and their (much needed) interference in their lives here.

I can’t wait for the next story and chapter in their relationship to be released. That will be The Human’s Heart (A Brinnswick Story Book 2). No date as yet.

Until then I’ll be heading back to pull up on the connected series and the universe I missed out on.

I’m definitely recommending this to all fans of the author and fantasy fiction.

A Brinnswick Story series:

- [x] The Human's Incubus #1
- [ ] The Human’s Heart #2 - TBD

This was a pretty fun and sweet read, and now I think I might need to go read all of Michele Notaro's books, because this was my first, and I quite enjoyed Hugo and Zaos' story! These two were super sweet and cute together, and I liked how they got to know one another while Zaos kept Hugo safe and how Hugo slowly met Zaos' family and finally had people in his life who cared about him for the first time since his sister was killed.

I loved the demisexual rep with Zaos and how quickly and easily Hugo accepted his sexuality and wanted to hurt the people who hadn't in the past. That was just so refreshing because I feel like so often coming out as demi in these kinds of stories (especially when you're an incubus) results in disbelief from the partner, or at least some questioning about how that could possibly work or make any sense, and Hugo didn't do any of that. He immediately understood and accepted and was there for Zaos. And he was very aware of never pushing Zaos for more until he said he was ready. I loved that so much, it made my heart happy <3

I do wish there had been more to Hugo's past and everything that was going on. High stakes, more depth to the story and what happened in his past. And I wish Hugo hadn't been so constantly in denial about being Zaos' viramore when there was so much evidence to the contrary. But then, if there was going to be so much denial, I needed there to be some big moment that caused him to finally believe it.

Hugo and Zaos were so awesome and sweet, and I loved that they became close through their time together and how they talked through things and how great Zaos' family was and how they accepted Hugo and gave him a place to belong. This was a grand story, and I can't wait to see more of Hugo and Zaos, and also hopefully of Kian and the others. And I now definitely need to go back and read the other Ellwood stories!

I have said it already in previous reviews of Michele Notaro's books, but I pretty much like everything she writes. I love some (like the Magi Accounts); others, I like. The latter is the case with this starting volume of the Brinnswick Stories, which is part of the Ellwood Chronicles world. "The Human's Incubus" has actually been my introduction to this universe, and I dived right into the Ellwood Chronicles when I finished it - which I guess is the best review. "The Human's Incubus" reads well and is entertaining. Not lots of crazy chemistry or fast-paced action in this one, but enjoyable nonetheless.

A detail caught my attention. Notaro is very supportive of gender diversity in her books. In this one, it shows in the way Zay refers to some members of his family: "my uncle-grandfather person". It is thus interesting that Notaro uses the expression "viramore" to refer to soulmates. "Amore" seems to be inspired by the Italian "amore". In Latin, however, "vir" means "man", and in Roman times it epitomised the "right manly attitude"; hence, the closer "virtue" and, more telling, "virility". "Virtus" was actually the greatest virtue, only achievable by men (bold, though judicious). "Viramore" could be then understood as "(very) manly love". As I said, Michele Notaro tends to be invested in gender fluidity, so it just surprised me that she would use the very same word that describes the very manly, very stereotypical male (like "the macho man") for the "viramore" concept—an unhappy accidental happening (?).

I received an ARC from GRR, and this is my honest opinion.

This is a very sweet story about a incubus finding his human soulmate.

I couldn't really connect with the main characters. Maybe this was because they felt more young adult to me and I like my characters a bit older and more mature. Hugo and Zay are really sweet together, even though Hugo has a hard time believing Zay really is his soulmate. They are patient and caring with each other. I really liked the fact that one of the main characters is said to be demisexual, as I don't see many books with demisexual main characters.
For me, it was a bit too sweet as there was so little action or suspense going on, it kind of got boring after a while.

I would have also loved to see a bit more of the world building. Apparently, the world is filled with supernaturals, magic and more. However, we only get a glimpse and nothing is really explained. Not even what a incubus really is or can do. We see glimpses of this, but nothing more. I think this story could have been fleshed out a bit more.

Not having read the Ellwood Chronicles and Brinnswick Chronicles world, I do feel like I missed out on some references or cameo's, but nothing major and certainly nothing to stop me from enjoying this book. So I would say it really isn't necessary to have read those other books and I don't think there are many spoilers in this book if you want to read the other books after this.

If you like sweet stories in an urban fantasy setting, this could definitely be a book you might enjoy. Just don't expect a lot to happen and enjoy those sweet moments with hardly any angst.

A young shy incubus with a savior complex, 4,5 stars.
This story is set in the world of the Ellwood and Brinnswick Chronicles. It is mostly based on new characters and can be read on its own. I've only read the Ellwood series and didn't feel like I was missing anything.
Zaos met his human soulmate when he least expected it. He saved him from a brutal attack that may not have been as random as it seemed, and he will do anything to keep him safe, even if it means involving his entire Ellwood family. Hugo is a man with slightly dramatic tendencies. He thought he was finally safe when his past caught up with him. The MCs are young adults and the story is written accordingly. It's a sweet, very slow burn paranormal romance with a little action and a protective incubus. I love the world building and that all of Ellwood and Brinnswick's stories are set in the same world. It makes it that much more interesting. Humans and paranormals co-exist in this world, they are aware of each other but don't necessarily interact much. I found the story more of a light romance with some action than a nail-biting novel that kept me on the edge of my seat, but it was a very enjoyable read and I look forward to the second book in this series.
I voluntarily decided to write this review based on an ARC of this story. This review reflects my honest opinion.

I’m already a fan of this author’s Magi book so grabbed this when I saw it. This my first Brinnswick book and will need to read everything else set in that world now! I loved Hugo and Zaos’s story, and its focus on family. I wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of Zaos’s dads or grandparents.

I love that Zaos isn’t the usual incubus, and is demisexual. He and Hugo are sweet together. I liked that Hugo didn’t just accept their viramore connection to be true, but fell for Zaos while he was figuring things out. I loved how they connected, and were affectionate with each other before going further.

The family aspect of the story was a highlight. I loved the banter between Zaos and his family, how protective they all are of each other, and how quickly they include Hugo as one of their own. I also liked Jett, Hugo’s friend, and hope he gets his own HEA.

The worldbuilding is fabulous and detailed, and the setting easy to visualise.

I loved the showdown with the bad guy and the twist in that. Nicely done.

I’m looking forward to more of Hugo and Zaos’s story.

'He smiled gently at me, then surprised me further by pulling me into a hug. I sank into him and tucked my face into the crook of his neck, then sighed when his arms came around me, and he began rubbing my back.
We stayed that way for a few minutes. I could’ve stayed there for hours, for the rest of the night. I could’ve stayed forever.'

A human and a demisexual incubus? It was a must read for me! And I loved the story. Great world building and wonderful characters. Zaos and Hugo were so sweet together. I loved how their relationship developed. Without knowing anything, you would think that the incubus would be the one self-assured and always confident. But I liked when Hugo would take charge and be the one emotionally supporting Zay. I loved the supporting characters. I was completely hooked to the story. This is the first book I've read by this author and understand it's a spinoff series of a larger world and I will definitely be looking into those because I have to read more from this author! 5 stars.

Love this author
This book is another win for Michele Notaro. She is a truly gifted writer, and I have loved many of her books.
First, I can honestly tell you that this book can be enjoyed as a standalone. I have been meaning to read the Ellwood Chronicles and the Brinnswick Chronicles for a long time now, but I just haven’t had the chance yet. So I can assure you that this book really works by itself.
The Human’s Incubus begins when Hugo is saved from a deadly attack by his incubus soulmate, Zaos. As Hugo heals, their encounter develops into a really sweet and substantial relationship. The book is told with a dual point of view, so you really get to know what both characters are thinking in each scene. It kept me very invested in their story. The book ends with a HFN ending, and I am looking forward to the next book that will also feature Zaos and Hugo as the MC’s. I highly recommend this book!

Read all the books!

I have read almost all of the books from this reality that precede this one. I love this family and this world. Not every book in the is a 5-star book, but I enjoyed and would recommend them all (to anyone who was comfortable with the M/M romance). I also recommend reading all the books in chronological order, but it's not an absolute necessity.
I have loved watching the Ellwood family grow. This book was great because I got to see some of Ailin and Seb's grandkids as adults. It really made me wish (not for the first time) that there was a book with the Ellwood family tree, listing relationships and the types of supernaturals they all are. I am sure such a list could take up a whole book by itself, but I would buy it!
I have read one or two of the books from the later series out of order, so I am happily looking forward to reading all of the series in which the Ellwods make an appearance!

I loved revisiting the world of the Ellwoods and seeing the next generation (but I also think it could have easily stood as a standalone for those who haven’t read the others). A demi incubus was entirely unexpected—and altogether awesome. (An incubus who studies to be a nurse to draw away people’s pain energy—so cool!) It was so wonderful having Hugo and Zay accept everything about one another through the course of the story. I appreciated the passage of time to give them the opportunity to truly get to know one another. (Although one minor quibble, I didn’t feel like Hugo’s job got mentioned often enough. How many weeks was he away without this being a problem or causing him any financial difficulties?) Zay’s extended family was lots of fun, and I liked Jett a lot—I hope to continue seeing them in the future along with Zay and Hugo.

Despite this being a follow on, or second generation story, and I didnt read the first, I wasnt lost. I didnt feel like I missed anything. In fact the story suckednme in and I felt like part of the story, I hated putting the book down. Now I WANT to read the first series and the following book Im hoping its Jett, Inwas thinking Keys.... but maybe not.

Honestly Hugo was so hardheaded.... Im human, I cant be enough for you.... hes never said he didnt want to be with Zaos, but had concerns due to life spans. He worried what would happen to Zaos after he passes.
Zaos knows the little human is his and no matter what he will win his heart. Hes honestly the best thing to happen to Hugo, hes done the one thing noone else has ever done.... hes fought for him... his safety and health, even prepared to kill for him.

I adored this couple and found the family interactions so funny.

Hugo’s life was filled with danger and uncertainty. He knew supernatural creatures existed but that was all he knew. Walking home from his job, he is attacked and would have died except for the interference of a demisexual incubus. It turns out Zaos claims that Hugo is his viramore, his soulmate. Hugo thinks he is crazy but is more than willing to stay and explore while safe from his enemies.

This is written in the Ellwood Chronicles world. I did not read the ones in the series and connected series. It is no way interfered with my ability to enjoy this one. I loved these two together. They had to work hard to overcome their pasts, but they had no problems doing just that. Book two will be eagerly anticipated and to hold me over, I can go and read the other series set in this world. This is an amazing find for me as it gives me so much reading pleasure to look forward to.

This is a very light hearted story about how an incubus (Zay) finds his mate (Hugo), in a less than conventional way. For those of you who are familiar with the other series in this world, you will like seeing some favorite characters living their HEAs. For those that haven't, you wont miss much at all. You will be like Hugo who was far removed from the previous stories and just heard about them. This is all about Zay and Hugo.

The pacing is a little different, all the action is packed at the very beginning and at the end of the story. So the middle trends to drag a little. But it's a sweet story of a human learning what it means to have a mate and how he comes to terms with his internal feelings. Interesting to see where this will go, and if we will see a different couple in the next books, or new couples.

3.5* rounded up

It's brilliant to be back in the Brinnswick universe, albeit some decades after the events of the other series set in this world. That said, Zaos and Hugo's story does work as a standalone, even with the cameos - never change A and Seb!

I like these guys as characters and it completely makes sense that it's a slow burn for them, but untruths whole book is a bit slow. For me, there is so much set in Zay's home with not really enough action to balance it out. I would have liked a bit more too on Bart's reason for pursuing Hugo and his eventual capture; as well as learning more about both Hugo and Zaos's earlier years.

Like I said, though, I'm very happy to revisit Brinnswick and I'm sure we'll get more of the good stuff in the next in the series. It's 3.5* from me for now, though.

Hugo and Zaos story was interesting and entertaining, and I loved going back to a world I dearly missed and to see again old characters.
They are sweet together even if Hugo as being a human is reluctant to believe that he's an incubus viramore, but with patience and love their feelings deepen and he recognises their bond for what it is.
I liked seeing how they build their trust and confide with their vulnerable side, their fears, and their strengths, as well as all the loving and funny moments they share between them and with family.
It was an enjoyable adventure filled with danger, adrenaline and love as well as a couple shenanigans.
I really loved the story and I'm looking forward to see what happens next with our beloved characters.

I really enjoyed this cute beginning to Zaos and Hugo's series. I haven't read the other Brinnswick stories that this is a spin off of and didn't have any trouble keeping up (though I am going to go back and read them now since Michele Notaro is an amazing storyteller). Zaos heals Hugo after a bad attack and even though Hugo is is soulmate, they do take things slow. It's nice that though there's a touch of fated partners the relationship is based on actually getting to know the other person. Things are taken slowly and trust is earned. That's not to say that there isn't any heat. These two are a very nice slow burn that made their first time something special. I can't wait to see not only these guys but more of Zaos' family and Hugo's best friend!

I loved being back in Brinnswick with all my favorite characters from previous books. Zay was so lovely, doing everything in his power to accommodate Hugo and keeping him safe. I have to agree with other readers of this book that Hugo annoyed me after a time with his constant denial of their bond while simultaneously feeling it and listening to literally everyone around him knowing the truth of the fact. I appreciated them getting to know one another and spending time with one another ... but ... the story was set up as high stakes, being chased down and Hugo's life being in danger - so it was quite slow and the danger coming and being dealt with with lightning speed.

I'm curious what is going to happen next with the two of them as well as with their companions.

MM paranormal romance

I generally really enjoy a good fated-mates style romance, but I have to admit this one wasn’t quite my cup of tea. The universe the story is set in was established in a previous series that I haven’t read, and while that didn’t impact my understanding of the story, I think it would be more enjoyable for those who’ve read the other books.

I found the start a bit formulaic and although the characters had decent depth and complexity, I didn’t find myself warming to them as much as I would have liked. That said, the writing is good and the world building and premise are great, so this is definitely a personal preference rather than it not being a great book. 3 stars for me personally but I know it will be a 5 for a lot of others.

Hugo and Zaos

Cute mates story between Hugo and Zaos (Zay). This is a spin off from another series but I didn’t find I was lacking any information really. Zaos saves Hugo from a mugging turned deadly and basically never lets him go (Hugo doesn’t try hard to leave lol). I tried to keep the timeline in my head correct and it’s like 6 weeks before they resolve Hugo’s issues, and in that time I don’t think Hugo goes back to work? And Zaos may or may not go back to school during his last semester as a nurse? I guess I’m giving this some benefit of the doubt because it’s an alternate universe and all, but Zaos still passes somehow. Other than that the book is very sweet. Hugo could have gotten with the ‘soul mates’ bandwagon sooner though.
