Dear Linc

Rate this book
From USA Today Bestselling Author, Alex Grayson, comes an emotionally captivating love story that rivals time....

Every love story has a beginning and an end.

Some are dark and painful, while others are sweet and beautiful.

Our story has both.

I knew when I met Molly at nine years old, she and I would always be connected. I just had no idea I was meeting my soulmate.

We were best friends first, then became so much more.

Marriage, babies, and a life filled with unbreakable love. That was what we promised each other.

The first two came easy.

The last we had to fight for, and we still lost.

Not all love stories last a lifetime. Some span more than one…

PLEASE NOTE: This title was previously published as two books, Forevermore and Everlast. They have been combined into one book. The story is the same. Please check the author's website for a list of T warnings.

I started this book, so randomly, I found a signed paperback copy of “Forevermore” at a used bookstore and felt the need to buy it, without opening it, without even really reading the back, just seeing the beautiful cover sold me. I finished it in one sitting, and HAD to find the rest! “Dear Linc” broke my heart into a million pieces, and is probably the one book I cried the hardest reading, but this story is one of the most beautiful and magical stories a person could ever read. I could and WILL reread it, probably 100 times more just to relive this amazingly tragic love story. It may not be a traditional “happily ever after”, but it’s hauntingly beautiful all the same…!

It's quite a unique storyline, but for me, it was poorly executed. The writing falls flat and doesn't convey the depth or excessive amounts of emotions to support the story. The rapid time jumps and lack of connection to allow the readers to get to know the characters better just threw me off. Overall, it was just too rushed for me to truly enjoy it.

I lived every minute of this book!!!

I think this book broke me.... I’m not sure what to say other than.....I really, REALLY, wasn’t prepared for what was to come!!

I should have been prepared when my friend(pfftttt), who recommended it, followed up with “just remember you love me”...... not so much atm Fiona🤨

It’s a beautiful love story, two people brought together by fate, kismet, call it what you want but they were always meant to be. But life is never fair, it’s hard, unforgiving, it’s feckin evil at times. Molly and Lincoln’s story crushed me.

I lived and breathed every minute of this book, it made me smile, laugh and cry oh so friggin hard, at times I couldn’t continue to read through the tears.

I’m left feeling quite emotionally drained.

This was on such a different level from the Hells Night series, I was so not mentally prepared.

Grab the tissues because I ugly cried on this one! Lincoln and Molly are my most favorite characters of all time! Their story is so absolutely beautiful, but heart breaking. This is a once in a lifetime, soulmate story and Alex Grayson did such a phenomenal job on writing this book!

Heartbreaking

Review a book after a long time but i went into it blind, not knowing what to expect and as the book progressed, i figured what it was leading and yet i couldn't stop. The plot, characters and especially the writing had hooked me and even the impending tragedy couldn't stop me from finishing it in a single day.
I loved the writing - the way the romance was built and the time skips were handled and how beautiful the family was portrayed and how strong and supportive they were of each other even in the toughest time. And the whole journal's touch was a beautiful concept and explored in such a surreal way that it elevated the story to a different level and even after the extended epilogue it made me go back and ponder over the infinite possibilities the universe has to offer especially for the ones that are meant to be and this point was highlighted in the most delicate and intricate way. Kudos to the author for that.
The only small complaints i had, though it didn't take away much from the story is - it felt very repetitive at times - both the scenes and dialogues, especially since even journals had something very similar and it took away the suspense factor. All the main characters - Molly and Lincoln were like idol couple and good people - but i didn't see nuances in them and their growth as individuals. They felt too generic and ideal - like this is how the perfect husband and couple should be, and less of their individual personality with few of their flaws. They were like too good to be true type..which kind of works for the story but as a reader i would prefer characters more relatable
Overall, absolutely loved it. Gut-wrenching but with a bitter sweet ending.

Much like June First these characters meet in childhood. There’s no taboo involved as they aren’t living as stepbrother/sister. Linc does seem more than a bit obsessed from the get-go but we’ll see where it goes.

Molly starts reading old journals found in the attic of their home. I hope there’s a point because otherwise its just page filler. I have a sneaking suspicion it may involve some kind of reincarnation* or at least parallel lives. The first woman in the journals Molly reads has a tragic death and our girl Molly seems headed in that direction. The men in these women’s lives seem to share some characteristics.

So the journals do have significance to the story in that the reader (including Molly) discovers the commonalities between the couples. Molly and Lincoln's love is “forevermore” and they more or less decide that the journals share the stories of their past lives. The third couple live long and happy lives and I hoped that would be true for Molly and Lincoln. The author didn’t explain why this third couple died on the same day. Was there an accident?

The aspect that probably stretched my credibility the most was that all the couples seem to have lived in the same house where the journals were stashed in the attic. I’m a bit surprised that Molly and Lincoln’s children didn’t want hers since they’d shared reading them for years.

*I’m no expert but I thought the purpose of reincarnation was for the person to keep reliving their life until they got it right. What possible mistakes had these couples made that needed to be rectified? It obviously involved both so not just one of them needed a do-over.

I'm not very familiar with this author. I just so happen to have one of her books - forevermore- sitting on my kindle that happened to be book 1 of a duet. So when I went to grab the other I found out it is gone and had been republished from the 2 short books into this one book titled Dear Linc. PSA and reminder to myself!

I actually ended up DNFing it at about 30% - not necessarily because it wasn't good. It just wasn't my thing. Not really a romance, because the relationship(YA) went very quickly and soon became just a book about life. I believe this was going to be a very sad book - I think young death. I'm not sure since i didn't get fully in to it. If you are looking for a sad...possibly rip your heart out book maybe try it!!

Where do I begin? I'm so overwhelmed. I dont normally read these types of books but I just finished reading Haunting (btw, which I read by accident and is now on my top 5 fav books of all time - you need to read it!) and wanted more. First, Dear Linc needs to be turned into a movie and Alex needs to be consulted so the story won't be destroyed. Second, this is not, I repeat - not - your typical romance novel. This book is very heavy and emotional. I could barely stop crying with tears of happiness and sorrow. It is beautifully written and takes the reader on an epic journey of a couple and a love that is unbreakable, even against time and space. This story is a glimpse of one lifetime, among many, of soul mates and their perpetual love story. A HEA that is forever. Brilliant!

This book was recommended to me by someone last year and has been sitting on my physical TBR. I gathered a few friends so we could do a buddy read. It is not my normal style of reading. At first, I was skeptical, but I kept going because even though I was hesitant I wanted to see how the story would progress. Oh my goodness did it progress.

Bottom line...you will cry. if the situation as a whole doesn't get you there will be one aspect that does.

Even though it is my preferred type of story, it was an incredible read. Once I hit a certain spot there was no turning back. I couldn't put it down and stayed up until I finished it.

My heart is pounding, and my breath feels stolen… this love story tore me apart. Read it in one sitting. Molly and Lincoln’s love was so powerful, it left my eyes burning from tears. It’s a love that’s heartbreakingly sad yet breathtakingly beautiful. Love isn’t always wrapped in a fairy tale ending, but it’s fierce and undeniable. Yes, this book will make you cry, and my heart still aches, but it also fills me with happiness. Fiction or not, this love story was so painfully beautiful, and I’m so glad I experienced it. I’m still trying to find myself after finishing, but Molly and Lincoln’s love will stay with me forever.

Am I ok after reading this book? No, not at all. I cried. I cried a lot actually. This is the type of story that makes you fall in love with love while also making it feel like it’s the most terrifying thing imaginable. To love someone so fiercely that they are your sole reason for living is as beautiful as it is tragic..
This is Lincoln and Molly’s story. This is a testament to what true love and finding one’s soulmate is all about. This is the reminder to cherish every moment with your partner and to tell them just how much you love them. Everyday, forevermore.

A heart-rending love story definitely to cause tears for some. Me? I'm broken..but I loved the story..at first I didn't understand the purpose of the journals and I was a bit annoyed by them to be honest. But as the story progresses and you near the end, it begins to make sense. Loved it! Would definitely recommend for a good cry ( unless you are as stubborn as I am and refuse to let the tears flow).

Absolutely, utterly in love with these characters. You realize pretty early on that this one is going to hurt but there are so many theories that you’re not quite sure what’s going on until it’s all mapped out. I absolutely adored all the journal entries and the serendipity and fate aspects it brought with it. I loved the plot. So many tears and so much heartbreak 💔 I loved the love story and I absolutely loved the fact that they keep finding each other.

Once again I went in blind because this author is set to be in Indy this August. And honestly if I would have known it’s not a traditional HEA I’m not sure I would have read it. I was crying at work 😅😭

The love that Linc and Molly had was definitely swoon worthy but absolutely heartbreaking what they had to deal with.

At first I found the journals from the past was annoying and not needed. But I was quickly proving wrong when the reasoning clicked lol

Spice level is probably a half of pepper

An epic love story that begins as kids and travels throughout the years. I loved the idea of this book and absolutely loved parts of it, but I felt like parts drug on and could have been shortened. The last 25% was a solid 4 stars for me ... only wish the other 75% would have been too. Giving this one 3.5 stars.

This book was amazing in the sense you truly feel the two main characters and their love for one another. You know the outcome of the story about 1/4 of the way into the book but the emotions are never ending and not necessarily due to sadness, but the beauty of their love. You feel their joy, their grief and just simply the raw emotion. I read both books in one sitting.

Such a good story! This is my second book by this author, and both have been 5 stars and I don't give those out easily. You will cry. Alex Grayson thank you so much for the extended epilogue, the book wouldn't have been complete without it!
