This book is a very useful guide to trees in Britain and Europe. It has a nice key to genera and species that helps the user to identify the genus and often the species too. We were able to find most trees that we encountered in the U.K. in this book, and identify unusual trees such as a Holm oak, identified using the book based on its leathery and broad, alternate leaves. The book shows a picture of the tree for most trees; it describes over 400 species and 335 are illustrated in colour. This book includes some unusual trees such as Chilean Wine Palm, Cyprus or Eastern Strawberry Tree, and Tamarix tetrandra. A very useful and attractive book.
