Thoughtfully designed and produced in all recycled materials, as all the Wooden Books are. Basic information about native British trees, and, as it is written by a woodsman, giving the major uses and burning characteristics of each species. The illustrations lift it above the ordinary - crisply reproduced, full page, black and white engravings from 16th and 18th century works, which are just superb, plus modern silhouettes and leaf, blossom, seed and fruit for each tree. Pocket size makes it easy to take on a forest walk.

Lovely little book. Learned many useful things about trees, including the fact that yew berries are not poisonous (although the seeds are).

Great little book - even if a bit too little! Nice silhouette illustrations and details on flowers and fruits. Also has some handy nuggets on the use of the different woods and suitability for burning etc.
