Dog Catcher

Rate this book
Greyhound racing is only pretty on the track. What you don't see until you read this the kennels, the dogmen, the breeding farms. Dog Catcher takes you on a realistic romp through a countrified Florida landscape of trailer parks and strawberry farms, dog kennels and animal hospitals. This is the gritty Southern noir of Central Florida and greyhound racing.

Erich R. Sysak is originally from New Orleans and wandered the Southern United States most of his adult life. After grad school he flew to Bangkok to start a new life as an English language instructor and expat extraordinaire. He never looked back. His 2 novels, Dog Catcher and Stage IV, were published in print by Monsoon Books long ago.

All of the ebooks about expat life in Thailand, including Water Heart, are now available at Amazon and have been chugging along for almost 10 years.

For the past decade I have developed a permaculture farm in the NE of Thailand that grows a wide variety of plants and trees, focusing mainly on fish, guava and rice. We spend part of the year in the NE of Thailand at the farm and the other part back in the states.

I answer questions on my blog (or here) about the delicacies and intricacies of Expat Life. Ask away because you want the truth.

Horrifying and compulsive in the manner of the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series. In this book, the victims are greyhounds. The nastier side of the greyhound racing industry is revealed. I couldn't put this book down or stop thinking about it.

The author's prose style is beautiful. He writes in a very clear and concise fashion, but his descriptive powers are amazing.
Definitely a good read, and very educational about what happens to greyhounds once their racing days are over, or if they don't make the grade in the first place.
