About the author

لازمه‌ی ابتدای راه در یادگیری گرمر، تو این کتاب به همراه تمارین گنجونده شده و یه اثر خوب و جامع ازش دراومده. برای بار دوم، یکسری از بخش‌هاش رو مرور کردم تا جهت یادداشت‌برداری استفاده کنم و به کار بگیرم. اگه تاتی‌تاتی‌کنان تو این مسیر گام برمیدارین، می‌تونه انتخاب خوبی براتون باشه.

هذا الكتاب كان رفيقي أيام الإبتدائية وبداية الاعدادية...كنت اتسلى فيه بأوقات فراغي

وإلي كان يجذبني طريقة شرح الدروس مع الرسومات المرفقة...وكنت أحل التمارين وأصحح لنفسي الي حليته...وأحيانا كنت غش الحل بعد...لأن الحل مرفق في الكتاب في الآخر

Probably good for exactly what it claims it's good for: elementary students of English. Unfortunately I neglected to notice that subtitle and gave this book a go anyway, and it's just too basic for me.

If any english or grammar snob out there has a good suggestion of a book that explains and breaks down English Grammar for people who have a good grasp on it, but want to know the technicalities behind it, then I'd love to hear about it.

Great book to read if you want to improve your English grammar. But this is not a traditional grammar book. There is not too much theory in the book. The explanation of the grammar point like "how to use Will, Preposition, Phrasal Verbs etc" is on the left page and exercise related to that grammar point is on the right side. The author also used images to explain the grammar. This book contains 114 units. After studying all the units and by doing all the exercise you will definitely improve your English grammar. This book is basic in nature and if you want to study intermediate grammar, you have to read "Intermediate English Grammar " by the same author.

Excellent grammar guide with simple rules and progressively difficult exercises. Review section is very good as is the summary pull-out grammar guide at the back. The entire "In Use" is top notch!

I think this is just the perfect book for learning English grammar.
I first bought it about 8 years ago, when my English teacher at school recommended it. I read it once at the new year's holidays, and though I might need to review it later (which I did recently).
I really like the structure of the book:
- One-page lessons with examples
- Exercises right on the next page
- Additional exercises at the end to review some parts
- A ton of multiple-choice questions for a comprehensive review
- The answer to exercises
I also really enjoyed the images and different types of questions used in the book for better understanding of the material.
When someone asks me for a reference to learn English, I always say "Grammar in Use is the best choice! Just go check the contents of each book, and start with the one that you think is suitable for you."
There are still more to learn with these series: There are "[Pronunciation, Collocations, Idioms, Phrasal Verbs, Vocabulary] in Use" books available, which I'm gonna study for sure!

Raymond Murphy's Grammar in use series is unparalleled. After buying this book, you won't need a teacher. This yellow one is for beginners. Even if you are ahead of this level, I would suggest that you buy all three versions i.e., Essential, Intermediate and Advanced. Start working out from the essential and level up gradually. If you're confusing between Murphy and Michael Swan, let me tell you this, Swan is for advanced learners only, it doesn't contain a single exercise and it's basically like a dictionary of grammar, you won't find any more grammar out of this. Have the Swan as a reference book.

تقریبا روزی یکی دو درس ازش خوندم و خیلی طول کشید. خسته کننده شد.
با ال ال ام ها دیگه نیاز نیست راه های اینقدر سخت برای یادگیری زبان رو جلو ببریم اما در هر صورت این کتاب واقعا کتاب ظریف و فکر شده و آموزنده ایه.
و احتمالا یکی از اخرین بارهایی بود که یه انسان تمامش رو رفت و تمریناتش رو حل کرد.
