This was a very powerful, and difficult, book to read. The author's son spoke at a recent event, and shared how Ed channeled the harm that had been done to him into advocacy, which is so apparent in this book. This is a very dark side of Canadian history.

woah holy shit
this book was raw and horrifically real, and yet i was enthralled during every chapter. this book is beyond sad and yet interesting so see a real pov of residential schools and the heinous acts that happened in it.
glad i read it, even if im slightly traumatized

This was the first book I read about residential schools and it really opened my eyes and helped to better understanding something that directly effects people in my community

Excellent book. Very well written. It should be mandatory reading for all Canadian high school history classes. Painful but essential read.
