Life was much safer at a remove, or at least so Julie Alexander thought.

Her photojournalist job allowed her to view life through her camera lens, a job that would help her learn if a man she'd never met was a good father to her estranged late half-sister's child.

But Julie's efforts to be a detached observer were challenged by firefighter Seth Flanagan and his warm-hearted family, and her detachment was completely shattered by her unexpected love for three-year-old Davy.

Yet Julie wasn't the only one facing issues; the still-grieving Seth made it clear that love didn't feature in his future plans. Could God's love build a bridge to connect the two?

Marta Perry is a Pennsylvania-based author of over 35 novels, many of them inspirational romances. She uses her rural Pennsylvania life and her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage in writing her books, especially in her Pleasant Valley Amish series for Berkley Books and her new Amish-set suspense series for HQN Books.

Marta and her husband live in a centuries-old farmhouse in a quiet central Pennsylvania valley. They have three grown children and six beautiful grandchildren, and when she's not busy writing her next book, she's usually trying to keep up with her gardening, baking for church events, or visiting those beautiful grandkids.

I enjoyed this novel which is the third in "The Flanagans" series. I enjoyed the interaction of the family members and seeing Seth get his second chance at a loving relationship. This has been a fun series to read, and I will be sorry to finally read the last book. I enjoy Marta Perry's novels and am glad she has more for me to choose from.

One day I will understand why love in these romance novels always has to be something involuntary. I wish that they could simply allow love to come about.

This story was interesting. Julie had a very dark past. I felt surprised this time around as I read it. I hadn't remembered it being so dark. She approaches the Flanagans by pretending to be someone else. Seth was still grieving over his wife's death. Somehow (of course) they end up falling in love.

The romance itself was a slightly sweet mess punctuated by moments of cheesiness.

Another Flanagan Family story!...I just LOVE this family SO MUCH! You can't HELP but LOVE this family!....I LOVED Seth! As I do ALL the Flanagan men! His relationship with his 3 yr old son Davy, PRECIOUS!....GREAT DADDY!...LOVED Julie! Even though I didn't see her photographs, I can just easily viszualize her pictures of the Flanagan family....Especially little Davy!....Also, GREAT cover! The little boy (Davy) in the fireman hat, ADORABLE!...Just really enjoyed this story!

This was a very good story. I liked how the heroine, Julie, went undercover to find out if her little nephew was being treated right. She made up a story to observe the hero, Seth and how he interacted with her estranged sister's child. She found she couldn't be as detached as she wanted to be when she saw her little nephew. Seth wasn't looking for anyone, but as usual, God got them together in the end.

This was a love story about an entire family, which is why I think I liked it so well. It is about supporting and encouraging those you love. This is my first time reading this author, but I plan to read more of her books.

This was one of my moms and I was skeptical...but it was good if you are into these kind of books. Single dad who is a fireman...but there is a twist...I liked it:).
