A new world. A new primal form. Survival of the fittest reigns supreme! If waking up in a new world isn't bad enough, Hestia starts her new life as a small, newborn dragon in a hostile forest filled with vicious monsters. With status screens obscuring her vision, her first task is to escape two hungry kobolds wanting some grilled lizard for breakfast.
Equipped with fragmented memories from her past life and the game-like mechanics of her new reality, Hestia must face trials, beasts, bosses and more as she grows in size and power.
She is determined to find civilization. For nothing will stop her from fulfilling her one true to become an Idol.
Don't miss the adventure of a lifetime in this new LitRPG Series about an underdog rising up to be the idol her new world didn't know it needed. Hestia may start small, but one day her power will match her determination.
It’s a semi decent isekai. Main detractor is the as usual poor editing making this really hard to read as immersion is broken once every few lines by some garbled translation or a saying that has been miss worded or misspelt. This also seems to be a direct copy or fan fic of “I reincarnated as a Spider, so what?” With replacing a spider with a dragon. Having said that the main character is really hard to like. It’s possible I’m not the target audience for this but I just can’t relate to a whinging rich kid diva who wants to be an Asian style idol more than she wants to be a Dragon?!? It is even mentioned multiple times that she knows she’s whinging and will stop but it just keeps happening. Action is rather light on and some fights are done between chapters with the reader just getting a summary at chapter start. Add to that the huge bloat that the character statues add to the book and are repeated every chapter end…really hard to enjoy this book.
Wasn’t for me. The MC was waaaay to juvenile and immature. Rambled on repeatedly about wanting to be an “idol” and made too may dumb decisions for me.
All the focus on her past life and side tangents really slowed the story down as well. Especially the POV at the end. Just delete that whole thing.
I can’t believe I am saying this but the skill acquisition and evolutions were out of control. There were so many that they stopped being important. I love a good “crunchy” LitRPG book with tons of prompts and pop ups but this drove me nuts.
Lastly, this is essentially a slice of life monster evolution book. Tons of evolution and fighting, but no story whatsoever until 2/3 of the way through. Got really boring.
Starts decently, but can’t decide on what kind of story it wants to be
I really enjoyed the opening chapters of this novel; they were engaging and featured some well-written action and adventure in spite of the awkward grammar. After a while, however, it becomes clear that the plot just…isn’t going to happen, even though there’s tons of fighting and progression. The protagonist is very irritating, a problem made infinitely worse by the fact that the chapters are very wordy and over-written. The tone is comically inconsistent. The narration reads as if it’s intended for a younger audience, yet there’s far too much violence and profanity for it to be considered a children’s book. The MC’s core motivation (becoming a pop singer) is a bit hard to take seriously when juxtaposed with her constant moral dilemmas and the darker aspects of the lore/worldbuilding. If I’m being honest, it seems as if barely anything happened during the events of this story, besides the MC meeting a fairy and another reincarnator. The ending is very unsatisfying, with much of the information about the lore being relegated to several long infodumps in the last 10%. It also seems that the author was trying too hard to write something that emulates the style of a light novel, to the point where it feels forced and artificial.
This book is.......not good. It reads like a Tumblr or LiveJournal stream of consciousness from first person written by someone who wants to affect a certain type of speech but doesn't actually speak that way in daily life. It reminds me of old school western weebs/otaku in the '00s on places like 4Chan trying to talk like what they think English sentence structure would be if they were Japanese. The author also unironically uses "scheisse" and no other German words in this babbling narration. Honestly the MC is a caricature of a middle school (despite being high school aged) anime or manga character and its kind of insufferable, especially on top of the weird affectation of the prose.
There's lots of power creep. Now I don't really mind power creep but I really don't like when it's presented in the form of "MORE SKILLS". This character just keeps getting more skills every few pages and it really bogs down the narrative. The MC went from a one page status to like five pages in less than a third of the book. Of those skills the most annoying is "parallel mind" because apparently the character couldn't exist without some voices in her head to talk to. Oh and the MC and all the voices have terrible dialogue. At the very least skill ups are presented at the beginning or end of chapters and page breaks to symbolize time passing. I actually think that's a neat bit of presentation.
I'm sure someone finds this schlock entertaining, but I am certainly not the target audience even if I do really enjoy "reborn as a " stories. What a slog. Even skimming, getting to the end to make sure my opinion wasn't going to change was terrible.
I don't mind LitRPGs - they can be quite fun. And I really wanted to like this one, but it needs editing. A fair amount of editing. At the moment it feels like it would have been a better fit for this to be a manga, for all that the issue with logic and story wouldn't be fixed by that. But perhaps they might have been less jarring in a different medium.
The book was a solid two stars for me until we hit the
Overall, not a book as for me as in the end I was reading more to just finish it and move on to something else than any actual interest.
This story has some interesting aspects to it. I don't think I've seen a story that has folks being transferred to another world, with some of them being placed into bodies of beasts, while the large majority are simply dropped into human equivalent bodies. It makes for some interesting possibilities. The extra chapters at the end of the book add different perspectives on the main story, so they are worth reading, even if they do tell part of the story from another perspective. At this point I don't know if I'd read more in this series or not, but it's likely that if I run across the books later on, I'll probably pick them up for reading, but I'm not going hunting for them at the moment. I do think most LitRPG fans will at least like this story, though some might be ambivolent towards it, since it's not your typical LitRPG tale.
An interesting premise with an unorthodox MC, unfortunately ruined by unfamiliarity with litrpg conventions. The MC keeps switching between being a powergamer and a total idiot, and constantly has to be given cheat skills. Instead of introducing any companions, she gets mental clones and it quickly gets tiresome. Side characters are introduced for no reason, with zero relation to the MC.
The worst sin is that the story constantly points at interesting ideas before having the MC not engage with them at all. Probably the breaking point is when she gets a bunch of unique evolution options.... then immediately discards them because she's scared. It reads like the author read BTDEM and wanted to do something similar to Elaine's rejection of divine classes, but without any of the actual plot that justifies it in BTDEM, so it's just another instance of the MC making frustrating choices for no reason other than to slow down the plot.
The times fly I still remember the time when isekai novels where still just an underground translation of JN LN. This brings back memories of of time when a famous e story from that time was also about a person being reincarnated into a dragon but it was an ice dragon, really makes you think how far isekai has transplanted into western story written tropes.
I can wait for the next book in this series do the author should work better on place side story’s has the wolf ones where spaced to far out. Do I enjoyed everything else an never reading the Royalroad edition was even better has it gave more a surprise for everything that happened.
Unexpected and intriguing. Following a baby dragon with the mind of a human teenager was interesting. I did worry about the parallel minds, and partnering up with another baby animal kind of relieved that. Still, following toddlers who think like adults was funny. The side chapters with other characters were informative at times, but also didn't feel integral into the series—and least where the class is concerned. We'll see how that works out. I enjoyed this. The ending following the thoughts of mommy garm was sad, and since it was in the past it didn't feel relevant since it's at the end of the book instead of after those events as a chapter.
A great read for fans of the Slice of life fantasy genre, Dragon Idol's Reincarnation follows the nameless protagonist (until just over halfway through) as she not only levels up and evolves but to survive and escape the numerous creatures trying to end her life throughout. My biggest complaint about the book was adding a second companion 3/4 near the end which opinion feels a little rushed considering about half way through the protagonist gained her first companion, however saying that I can forgive it as it doesn't detract from the overall novel and makes me hope that in the sequal, more will join this odd group of travelers.

I enjoyed reading the book. The world building is solid and the system is pretty thought-filled. I really liked the MC and the teacher and the backstory of the Garm matriarch and the Fenrir, and I liked the little fairy. I didn’t really like the side stories of the other Japanese students. I couldn’t keep the characters straight and didn’t really learn much about the people who summoned them. I was just kind of bored during those stories.
This book was really fun and had great characters, lots of action and magic, and interesting locations. At times the super long character sheets get annoying, but I realize that is part of the story. It would just be nice if the kindle reader on the iPad made it easier to scroll past those when they appear that often and that long. Oh well, I still recommend this book.
This book was a lot of fun. I liked the characters and the world building.
I do have two minor quibbles. 1. There are some parts where there seems to be a stat sheet every half a page. It gets a tad monotonous. 2. Some of the transitions between characters are not overly clear. Again, these are very minor.
This book is all over the place. So many back and forths between the MC, supporting character, gods and past lives. The dialogue feels like it was converted from another language, and not well. I did not finish, very rarely can I not finish a book. I really wanted to like this.
Couldn't make it past chapter 12 while listening to the audiobook. MC just gets given every advantage and self identifies many advantages as cheats. Squanders every opportunity, but magically isn't harmed or slowed down by continuous personal failings. Poor lazy writing. Have listened to Erin Bateman on other audiobooks and she is a pretty good narrator, the content is just not good here.
I enjoyed reading this book very much and I recommend this book to anyone who like LitRPG and progression type of books with lots of action. I await the next book in this series,
Love the concept but the grammar and writing style says not a native language. Gave 3 stars because I know konger and his goons are actively trying to ruin the genre. Probably a wonderful read if you can overlook the flaws. Love the concept!
This has a fast pace that pulls you in, the inner monologue from the main character at the start sets the tone wonderfully. The overall story is hinted at quite well. This is just fun.
Story was all over the place and not cohesive. Interesting twist to an LitRPG but main storyline fizzled when other boring side character storylines kept interrupting.
While I wish other characters were introduced a little sooner I enjoyed this unique perspective of a MC and can’t wait to see how this new found family grow!
DNF... When I picked this up I expected a Isekai with a dragon, but instead I got a self-important girl who just wanted to be human again and sing, to be a pop star, ugh... I tried so hard to find something to care about in this book but failed in my endeavor and my various attempts to finish the book. I finally gave up when I realized the book was only background noise... 'cause I no longer cared. Even the narrator failed... I cringing every time she roared.
