Attune yourself to everyday Reiki with a revolutionary guide to an at-home practice."This book will transform you. Brett Bevell teaches us how to shift every aspect of life, from the food and water we put into our bodies to the past, present, and future."—David Morehouse, PhD, author of Psychic WarriorReiki tradition dictates that you must be initiated—or attuned—by a Reiki master before properly practicing this healing art of energy flow. In this revolutionary guide, Reiki Master Brett Bevell breaks with convention and extends the transformative powers of Reiki to all by presenting at-home rituals for self-attunement. In the true healing spirit of Reiki, Bevell encourages creativity and experimentation with the practice, allowing you to personalize Reiki for everyday use. With twenty-one symbols to empower the flow of Reiki, as well as chants for attuning candles, stones, and even the water in your bath or washing machine, this is Reiki as you've never seen it available to everyone, for use in all aspects of life, as Reiki was always meant to be.
The title The Reiki Magic Guide to Self-Attunement is a bit of a misnomer. First off, Reiki is not magic in the normally thought of sense. Reiki is merely universal life energy/ unconditional love. Moreover, the author does not teach the reader how to become attuned to Reiki. Instead, the book includes instructions on how to call down the three traditional levels of attunement and a variety of other symbols used by the author.
With that said, The Reiki Magic Guide to Self-Attunement is a pretty decent overview of Reiki for beginners. Not only can the reader receive the attunements on his or her own time schedule but they can gleam the basics after perusing the text. Then, as the author states, they can learn through experimentation what the energies can do.
I very much agree with the author that Reiki is the birthright of us all. I also believe that a true Reiki Master is molded through experience and building a partnership of sorts with the energies rather than his or her ability to pay someone to teach them very strict, inflexible ways of practicing.
The author provides an easy to read and simple explanations on each of the exercises at Levels 1, 2 and 3 of Reiki. The book shows an alternative method of learning Reiki, as the traditional method tends to be elitist. Mr. Bevell recommends "Essential Reiki" by Diane Stein as a book to assist the student in their study of Reiki and its many uses to heal not only the body but the spirit as well.
Interesting, an alternate school of though of the 2 already existing and established schools of Reiki.
I really tried to finish this book, but I could not bring myself to do so when I felt he (the author) took the commitment and effort that takes to learn and practice 'Reiki' way too lightly.
Reiki takes discipline, dedication, and work; it is not metaphysical-pop, and it cannot be learned from odd little rituals in a book. There's no magic but energy workings in it.
Apparently, this guy learned Reiki by having visions and such and not from a teacher. So the symbols are similar to traditional ones. Plus, he has his own symbols. Eh, read with a big grain of salt.
