Laney Wilson discovers the past doesn't always stay in the past when she returns to Canada after thirty years. An innocent date on a past trip lands her in jail for murder in the present. As she sits in jail, she tries to remember that week and everything that occurred. While her friends fight to clear her name, back home, her husband faces a woman trying to impersonate his wife. If Laney is being framed, who and why? Not all things are as improbable as they seem.
What an incredible book! I absolutely loved it! Foley hit it out of the park with this storyline. There were a couple of times, I was like come on, seriously? and then it came together in the next couple of chapters....so brilliant! Loved the roller coaster of a ride! This story is told in dual timelines by different characters. I really liked Laney's character, but even more her husband's. Each character brought something to the table, that made this book what it is, a fantastic read!! I absolutely recommend this book! Make sure to grab a copy when it releases June 6th!
I really enjoyed this book!! It was predictable but not in a bad way. Sometimes I like thinking I have it figured out and it actually being true, but then there are a few twists added in to still make it interesting! Definitely recommend reading this one! I bought it based on a post in a book group, the author is hilarious! I’ll read more of her books now!
A perfect combination of trust and deceit. The story flows smoothly and you get to know each character by the different POV’s. This was my first time reading one of D.M Foley’s books and I will continue to follow her journey.
The Killer Trip by D.M. Foley had me hooked from the very first page. The plot is clever and full of suspense, with twists that completely took me by surprise. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another unexpected turn would send me reeling. The pacing is fast and keeps you on the edge of your seat, making it hard to put down. If you love a good thriller with crazy twists and turns, this one’s definitely worth reading.
Gripping, smart, and full of twists Secrets of Love and Danger kept me glued from the first chapter. What starts as a return home quickly spirals into a tangled web of past secrets, mistaken identity, and a murder charge that pulls you deeper with every page.
Laney is a compelling lead—strong, vulnerable, and caught in a situation where nothing is what it seems. The dual storylines of her fight for freedom and her husband's chilling encounter with a woman pretending to be her had me on edge the entire time.
The mystery is layered, the pacing is tight, and every twist feels earned. If you enjoy suspense with emotional depth and characters you root for, this one’s a must read. I devoured it in one sitting.
Talk about twisty! This one may not keep you guessing but it has loads of pop-up surprises you just won’t see coming. It’s fun, quick, and deadly! It was picked from an adopt and indie author event on Facebook so I took a chance and won big time! Think Hallmark meets Columbo!
This book was very good. It kept my interest piqued and closed with a satisfactory ending. I don’t know if “refreshing” is the correct word for a psych thriller, but that’s exactly what this was. It was a very pleasant change of pace from the thrillers I’m used to indulging in. The protagonist was a very likable character, and that is not to be said for a lot of the characters in the thriller genre. It spoke volumes on the importance of true family, friends, and relationships. It had a steady pace that kept you intrigued until the very last page. I highly recommend this book and I think the author did a wonderful job piecing this together. 4 stars from me and I look forward to more of D.M. Foley’s work!
This had the potential to be a great story but it just seemed silly and unreal. I was hoping it would get better but my thought when I finished was what did I just read??
The story was far-fetched and painfully unbelievable, leaving me cringing at how forced and predictable the plot twists and dialogs were.
It lacked any real depth or intrigue, coming across more like an overly contrived scenario than a compelling narrative.
The writing itself was poor, with basic dialogue and overly simplistic prose. It had underdeveloped vocabulary and the narrative blatantly directed the audience to assume certain outcomes, removing any sense of subtlety or surprise.
Overall, the book felt amateurish and unsophisticated.
Way too predictable. Solved it by page 40 and the second twist as it happened. Read on a 3 hour plane ride. The large font in the book made me feel like I was reading a middle school book and the writing wasn’t much better.
This is the first book I have read by author DM Foley. The story kept my interest throughout the book. The protagonists friends in the book reminded me of all girls growing up surrounded by their besties. The protagonists sister I thought was a typical sister relationship. I should stop there, I don't want to give away any spoilers. I enjoyed the unravelling of this story, it took me to a couple of twists that I didn't see coming. I will be reading more books by this author.
A fun, quick read. It was interesting to know fairly early on who the killer was and then going back in time to explain events. I like this kind of story. Some fab twists too!
The Killer Trip delivers a thrilling ride for fans of psychological thrillers. It’s a story that explores betrayal, fear, and survival, making it difficult to put down until the very last page. A solid recommendation for readers who enjoy tension-filled mysteries with a dark edge.
I could not put this book down! I finished it a day after I got it (but for some reason my post didn’t make it on FB) Very well written, quick read and easy to get into from page 1. It follows different characters POV in 2 different timelines. When you think you know how it’s going to go, the author throws a twist and you’re sitting there contemplating everything you just thought!! The ending chapters had me on the edge of my seat! I’m interested in reading more from this Author and would recommend to others without a doubt!
My third book by D.M. Foley and it has to be said that she does a sensational job at creating dynamic characters. “The Killer Trip” is mystery/thriller told in dual timeline with a well thought out plot that unravels with a big twist. Foley possesses a sophisticated quality of writing that brings awareness to complex and subtle issues. This makes for a powerful yet easy read. I was not only impressed with the storyline but also with each and every character she created along with the detail she added that made fiction unfold into a world of what could be reality. So much thanks in picking me as an ARC reader. I not only recommend “The Killer Trip” but her other novels as well.
The Killer Trip was a great, enjoyable read. The writing for this thriller is so easy to read, I finished the book in two afternoons!
The story is told in two timelines by multiple characters. It’s great to read everyone’s perspective on the events happening in the book, as you get to understand the motives behind peoples actions, instead of having to assume.
If you’re looking for a good, enjoyable thriller, The Killer Trip is the book for you.
4.5 stars - I really wish that Goodreads would give us half star options.
This was the first book that I read by D.M. Foley, and I toughly enjoyed it. Nice quick and easy read, and they did a great job building the world and suspense with how short this book was.

D.M. must stand for Dramatic Misdirection because I honestly did not see where this book was going!!! For the first half I thought I had it all sussed out with only the pages remaining giving me any indication that I might be wrong. And I wasn't wrong, for the most part, but the way this book takes a turn and finishes off with the perfect ending was one I did not predict!! Everything about this book was a 5 star! The writing style flows beautifully and the dual timelines draw you into the characters so much deeper. This had been my first chance to read D.M. Foleys work and it certainly wont be my last!! What are you waiting for? Get it!
What an awesome book The past never stays in the past! This book was a thrilling roller coaster ride that kept me page turning and not being able to put the book down. I got this as a download from the author but I didnt know it was already out. I did purchase thos book and now my wife is reading it after hearing all my gasps lol! I can't wait to read her trilogy about the Lyins
I was getting frustrated with one of the characters but at the halfway point there was a twist that turned things around for me. There is a lot of suspense and some other twists as well.
This was a really well-written story. I love DM Foley. She has become a must-read writer for me.
