Both good and bad. But with every defining moment I’ve had, I always chose to stay.
Until Now.
Now, I’m leaving the life I always knew and the people I once called family behind. Here I am in new city with my best friend, a new job, and all I want is to get by.
Until him. Damien King.
And it all started with a spilled drink. One that I still think he made me spill on him.
One moment, he was no one but a man who happened to piss me off in a bar. The next, he’s my new boss that I can’t get out of my head.
He’s everything I never let myself dream of. His daughters are everything I never thought I deserved. Yet here they are, embracing me anyway.
But love doesn’t come easy, especially when the shadows of my past are looming over my head. It’s only a matter of time until they make their full appearance.
The question is, can I face them? And will he be willing to face them with me?

sawyer has never known the true definition of family; with a father who has passed away, a mom with an addiction and brothers who barely act like they care and could care less about her, she has been on this journey all by herself. whether she likes it or not, there is something deep within her that screams for more, screams to be free and to be somewhere where she could truly shine.
damien king is a young dad to two sweet girls. once he left his girlfriend who no longer wanted the girls, he knew he would be in this journey along. however, there is no wonder that his friends and family stepped up to help him in this single dad journey. at least he still has them.
in this new place where sawyer finally decides to move in with her best friend, these two finally cross paths and it was on a whim where they finally realize what they have been missing in life. while damien misses the idea of someone challenging him, sawyer misses the comfort of knowing someone will be there to back her up when she needs it. once they’re working under the same company, eventually they realize that they’re exactly what’s missing in each other’s lives.
find romance, challenge, comfort and many tears when you read this beautiful story about two complicated people who eventually find family within each other!
⤿ .`★ For as long as I could remember, I’ve always thought my life was full. I’ve been happy. I’ve had an amazing family, a great business, it never felt like anything was missing until I met her. Sawyer Davis was my missing piece.
‧ * ₊ 。 ꒰🍁꒱ I’m not one to usually like age gap romance, but this one!?!?? SO GOOD. This book felt like finding a puddle during a heat wave, it’s something I would’ve read in one sitting if not for work. There’s so many adorable moments in this book and it was so cute and fluffy 🥹💞 there was some smut but the way it was executed, SPECTACULAR. I need to buy and read the whole series now. No questions asked, this book is now one of my pride and joys.
HAPPY RELEASE DAY !!!!! 🥳🎉🎉🤍I’m so excited for everyone else to read it

Thank you Good Girls PR for allowing me the chance to read and review this! 🤍🤍
Sawyer decides to leave home to start a new life in the city, however the start of her new life is rocky as she gets fired from multiple jobs. However one lucky day she ends up meeting a woman who just so happens to be in search of a replacement for her job as a receptionist at a tattoo shop. Sawyer is excited for this new job opportunity until she realises that her boss is none other than the guy she spilt her drink on a few months ago, whom she despises.
This was a fast-paced, quick, swoony, sweet, & fun yet emotional & tear jerking book. I really enjoyed this book & flew through it.
Sawyer is a badass & a fighter. She doesn’t back down from a challenge, is strong-willed, & straight up. She’s a really fun character that walks with her head held high & doesn’t let anything bring her down. Her relationship with Damien’s girls was the sweetest & had my heart melting!!🥲
Damien is a closed off grump whose life revolves around his daughters & his tattoo shop. You can tell how hard he’s fighting against his feelings for sawyer ay the beginning because the man tries his hardest to not even look at her😭 he’s protective of, & a sweetheart to the ones he loves, even including his employees.
I adored the way that Sawyer bantered with Damien. It worked really well with their dynamic & because of how opposite their personalities were, & it had me feeling so giddy. They had such a healthy relationship & healthy/effective communication. I loved watching their relationship develop from their initial annoyance with one another, to something so sweet & HOT!😮💨 they were just super cute💛
𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: single dad, workplace romance, found family, forced proximity, age gap, dislike to love, boss x employee
Thank you to Good girls PR for the arc in exchange for my honest review💛
I read this book in one sitting; I could not put it down. The way this book had me giggling, kicking my feet, and tearing up, feeling all the feels. The way Damien King had me in a chokehold throughout this book—my god, I love this man. The pace of this book was perfect; it was a slow burn. The way Sawyer was just badass and confident within herself—I loved it. She has a big heart and is not afraid to speak her mind, ever. Damien King will be added to my book boyfriend roster now.
Sawyer decides to leave her family and home town to start a new life in a new city. After getting fired from her new job and having a night of drinking with her best friend, she runs into Damien - literally. Their first encounter is anything but friendly, and they eventually part ways. Fast forward a few months, the receptionist at the tattoo shop Damien King runs retires and hires a replacement. The new receptionist is none other than the woman he hasn’t been able to get out of his head, Sawyer.
I haven’t read a story in a while where I am completely immersed in the story like this one. From chapter one, I was hooked and I stayed up way too late devouring this book I physically could not put it down.
Damien is a tatted up single dad - he’s protective, kind, and caring. He would do anything for his girls, Sawyer included. I LOVED Sawyer - she is such a straight up FMC and isn’t afraid to say what is on her mind. I loved how easy and genuine her relationship with Damien’s kids was and how she instantly connected with the hard to crack Ellie. Watching both Damien and Sawyer open up to one another and become each other’s missing puzzle piece was so heartwarming.
Everyone needs to add this to their TBR asap because this book was perfection!
💛Single dad 🦋Age gap 💛Workplace romance 🦋Found family
Omg guys this was soooooo freaking good !! Okay at this point you might know how much this whole series means to me, i ate every single book up in literally just one sitting. I sat on my bed and didn’t move once until i was done ! That’s how good these books are, I’m pretty sure i did the same thing for all of them !! First i’d like to thank Good Girls PR and Jess Taylor for once again providing me with an ARC of her newest book, Butterfly Kisses. When I tell you I screamed when I saw that I’d gotten an arc !!! This series and its characters have become so important to me I love all of them so so much and getting glimpses of each and every one of them in every book is like the warmest hug ever! The found family here is so freaking amazing !!! In Butterfly Kisses we FINALLY follow King’s story and let me tell you i’ve been waiting for his book since the very beginning of the series a little over a year ago and when i finished Blazing Star, book 3 in the series, and learned the next one would be about him i just started screaming and jumping i was sooo excited! And let me tell you i was NOT disappointed, not one bit ! If you love the single dad trope, found family, age gap (FREAKING AGE GAP ROMANCES ARE MY WEAKNESS), tattoo artist, workplace romance this book is definitely made for you !!! also, and that’s a really really good thing for me but there’s no third act break up and that’s honestly such a good thing !!! So please go read King and Sawyer story and fall in love with them like i did. This book and the characters will have you giggling and grinning the whole time. Butterfly Kisses by Jess Taylor is out on July the 9th so go preorder it and read it as soon as it gets out ! This series is amazing and so good I have no doubt you’re all gonna love it !! 4,5⭐️ for me !!!
A super sweet end to such a good debut romance series! I am hoping for more from this author someday because I absolutely adored Jess Taylor's writing.
There was so much to love about this single dad romance. I have been waiting for Damien King's book since the first story and Jess truly delivered!
currently eating but I liked this one, doesn’t beat kyson and gabby but still good. the extended epilogue tied it all together and i wonder if theo or aria get a book?!?!
Ummmm you’re kidding??!!! This book was literally so good! I was so excited to be able to get an ARC book and I definitely was not disappointed! King and Sawyer were literally so cute from the very beginning. I mean they literally had the worst meeting, but nothing could stop that bad altercation from revealing their feelings for eachother. I absolutely love how she came to work at his tattoo parlor and started hanging around his family more. It was actually so adorable and something I loved. I was not expecting Ling to trust her so much around his girls, but I was so wrong!! Sawyer helped his girls so much and was literally such a great role model to them. I love how they openly accepted her and didn’t make things weird at all. It was so cute and I ate it up!!! I love how King was so understanding of Sawyer and her feelings and took things one step at a time. This was honestly just such a cutsie book and I had so much fun reading it! This was my first book from this author and I will def be reading more from her.
I've craved Damian King's story since the moment I met him in the first book, and god, was his story worth every bit of that wait!
He was so loyal and grumpy and such a good dad!! I just ate up the way he was so standoffish and grumpy with Sawyer. It was so fun to see them try to fight their feelings for each other! Sawyer was such a good match for him with her stubbornness and fiesty nature.
I was constantly squealing and kicking my feet with these two! They were just so cute and sexy and the way that Sawyer connected with Damian's girls was so damn heartwarming!
The found family in Jess’ books is just one of the best parts of her books! This whole group of people were so welcoming of Sawyer, and it was so satisfying to see her finally get a real family.
Damian's story was the perfect way to end the series! I'm going to miss all these characters so much, but I can't wait to see what Jess has up her sleeve next!
4⭐️ This was the perfect conclusion to the Blossoming Beginnings series! I'm so sad to see these characters go. The first 50% of this book I could not put down! I loved Sawyer and King together and the relationship they have-- a found family.
4⭐️ idk what it is with me and when there is kids involved in books. I think they just make it more interesting and funny. But my favorite out of the series. I love seeing King and finally getting to meet his kids. I also loved Sawyer, how badass she is and for dealing with all the shit she had to.
I really loved Damien and Sawyers story so much!! I really loved their dynamic and his kids loving her from the very beginning was so sweet! This series is one of my most favorite series of all time and I can’t wait to see what’s next!!
First I just gotta say this is now my favorite out of the whole series!! It just bumped bleeding hearts to number 2. I’m sooo sad this series is done but it ended in THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE!
⭐️: 4.5/5 This whole series was one of my favorites and I am sad to see it end. Jess had created a world of characters that had become my favorite characters that I will miss. The way that age gap was written in this book was amazing as I had forgotten that there was an age gap between the main characters. This book for sure had some love and found family vibes that I loved seeing.
I found Sawyer’s character to be amazing as I loved her determination as well as knowing when to stand her ground. I loved how welcoming Damien and his girls were toward Sawyer where they had helped her define what family should be like and the way it was written in this book was amazing. I loved Sawyer’s relationship with the girls as it was so freaking cute that I loved it.
Damien’s character was amazing. He may have a grumpy exterior but once you get to his sweet side, there is no turning back. I loved how he was with his girls and Sawyer as it was the cutest and so sweet to read. I love how caring and his protectiveness towards the people that he cares about.
When you first read about Sawyer and Damien first met, it was cute and funny but yet you can see that they have chemistry. I did love how they met again where they work together as it was amazing and lovely. They have a banter that i had enjoyed seeing between both characters as it was cute. I love how their relationship had shown what healthy communication would look like in a relationship. I adore their relationship as they are so freaking cute.
It was also lovely to see the other characters that were in this book. I loved seeing their interactions and the type of relationships with the main characters. I will miss this universe and I cannot wait to see what Jess had coming next!
-✨ Tropes : single dad (two girls) / tattoo artist / found family / feisty FMC /
I love a book that hooks me from the very first chapter. Once I started this book, I couldn’t stop! I loved these characters so much! Sawyer and King have completely stolen my heart.
🦋Single dad 🦋Workplace romance 🦋Age gap 🦋Tattoo artist MMC 🦋Sassy, badass, independent FMC 🦋Found family
After Sawyer leaves a terrible and toxic home situation, she moves hours away into her best friend’s apartment. And when the fates align, she finds the perfect job. Working for a tattoo artist who treats everyone like family. How could it get any better?
Sawyer and King had a not so great first meeting, which as a reader, had me laughing at loud. It was the funniest not so great meet cute ever!
And because of that, both of them are on guard around each other. But you can’t deny attraction and chemistry that these two have. The sexual tension was burning HOT for these. And I usually am not a fan of the slower burn, but it was perfection for building them up.
Sawyer had a lot of trauma in her life, but the way she was with King and his daughters was so special. You could just feel how safe and loved she felt.
But my favorite part of this book was Sawyer’s relationship with King’s daughters. That was so, so beautiful to see. On everyone’s account. I loved seeing Sawyer grow into a role that she never thought she’d have and I loved seeing the girls need her in a way that they never thought they’d have again.
Overall, I highly recommend this book! I need to go back and read the first three books in this serious because the side characters definitely had some interesting stories that I missed!
🦋Single dad 🦋Workplace romance 🦋Age gap 🦋Tattoo artist MMC 🦋Independent and strong FMC 🦋Found family 🦋No third act breakup 🦋First love
The first chapter pulled me in. Her brother was shitty in every sense of the word. Even if by some chance he would’ve redeemed himself, I still would’ve hated him. One of the things I loved about this book was the FMC—Sawyer. A strong lead that never let anyone walk all over her, she held her ground, stood up for herself, and was sassy yet relatable. I might be one reader who doesn’t care for a meet cute, so the way she and King met was hilarious—not so hilarious, but the whole argument had me laughing. It wasn’t aggressive like I thought it’d be from the blurb, but the chemistry was felt. While I loved how strong-willed Sawyer was, she needed to reel in her attitude when it came to work places. The way she talked to King on the first day at Blackheart Ink, also her first day working at his tattoo shop, wouldn’t have gotten her hired in the real world. That was a bit unrealistic. Sawyer being Sawyer, let her mouth do the talking. I’m going to always stand for a strong FMC, but sometimes Sawyer was a bit much. I loved the realism of the situation with her mother. Once again, I HATE her brother. Sawyer definitely deserved so much better, and I was happy she finally got the happiness she always deserved. Her bond with King’s daughters was so adorable, especially since one daughter wasn’t a people person. Sawyer and King—I loved them together. This book exceeded the expectations I had going into it. Such a good read.
When I finished this book my heart feels so full 💛 I cried when I was done because it made me so happy … Sawyer getting the family she deserved. King loving her the way he does. This is about finding your people, your family - it’s not people who you share blood with but people who come in your life and make you feel seen, safe & whole. Who love you, who are there.
Sawyer leaves her home, her mom, her life after having to be the adult for a while. She’s dealt with her moms addiction & her brothers harassment and she had enough. She wants a fresh start … Damian is a single dad who owns a tattoo shop and he’s happy with the life he has and his family, he didn’t feel like he was missing something or someone until a certain someone comes into his life. Their first meeting wasn’t the greatest but Sawyers mouth, her attitude & how she didn’t back down from in was something he couldn’t get outta his kind & honestly she couldn’t get him outta hers. After a few months fate will bring them together & they cannot deny or hide the attraction, chemistry and pull they have towards each other. Their story was beautiful & they made me so happy 💛
This is book 4 in this series - i did not read the finish 3 & let me tell you i didn’t have to. I wasn’t lost or confused, so ima say you can read this as a standalone…
I’m just feel so happy. I feel good - this book did that. This is my first @authorjesstaylor and honestly ima read the rest of the series 🤍
You’ll find… •found family •age gap •single dad •workplace romance •first love

i loved king during all the other books, just seeing how dedicated and loyal he was to his employees/friends and his two daughters was beautiful. he really was a gentle soul and i really was loving his character a lot. he was always doing these little things for those in his life just because he could, he never wanted the fuss or attention. sawyer was such a strong, confident and powerful person, i love how she always stood up for herself, those she cared for and even kings daughters. it was so nice to see the four of them slowly create this family, i love how ellie and willow accepted their dads relationship with sawyer and how sawyer wanted it all with the 3 of them. it was such a special bond they all created and i loved all the little moments they shared together.
“what do you think that i'm worth, damien?" i ask. "everything.” he says without hesitation.
their chemistry was so sweet, it had an almost innocent feel to it as they were being cautious to protect ellie and willow and to make sure they never rushed into anything. the were such a beautiful and loving couple filled with so many sweet moments. the story as well was so amazing, i really liked how they just naturally came together and the way king would do anything to help sawyer and the other way around. it wasn’t full of a plot but i liked that as it focused more on them, their relationship and the family they were growing. i did really love the way sawyer faced her past with kings help and grew to be even more strong, i did really love her.
This was an absolutely adorable, feel good, low stakes, no third act breakup, little romance.
I was lucky enough to receive this as an arc. Grumpy tattoo artist/shop owner single dad MMC, and sassy wild FMC? Sign me up!
What I didn't think was that I was gonna get this super ooey gooey romance! Ugh. It was so cute. The characters were adorable, had an instant connection and surprisingly communicate very well for adults with such drama filled and traumatic pasts. It was a good slow burn with them both trying to ward off the feelings they were feeling.
I liked the single dad aspect. I don't read too many single parent romances, and i honestly hate pregnancy tropes (except in epilogues), but this was cute. I appreciate how concerned the FMC was with making sure the girls were taken care of and ok, and she was constantly worried if she would be good enough to be in their lives. I loved that the dad also took their thoughts and feelings into consideration, and the girls always came first.
There was some spice in the book. Nothing crazy, but you do get some good spice about 60% thru the book. There are a couple scenes. So that was great!
This is a very low stakes story. There is no third act breakup, and the biggest conflict in the story does get solved in a nice little red bow at the end. So if you're wanting a super cutesy story that'll pull at your heartstrings and make you giggle, this is it!
"it was all because of a spilled drink. Maybe I did make her spill it. Maybe somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew that I needed her in my life, and getting in her way was how I made that happen."
Damien King Just a single dad minding his business in a bar he didn't want to be at. He'd rather be home with his 2 daughters, who are his whole world.
Sawyer Davis Just a girl who left her toxic, broken life behind for a fresh start. She'd rather be anywhere than working for the bar manager who just fired her.
Cue spilled drink!
In a series of events that can only be kismet, Sawyer gets a new job working for a grumpy tattoo shop owner who happens to be the dude she dumped a drink on!
Butterfly Kisses is a fast-paced, spice laced romance. There's a lot of emotional and personal growth that happens between the pages. Sawyer and King don't mess around with their feelings, being open and honest with their pasts and well as moving forward in a relationship, especially since King's kids are involved and Sawyer isn't sure she is ready for that level of commitment.
I love found family stories, and this one delivers with an amazing circle of friends who rally around each other and embrace Sawyer as one of their own.
Bonus: No 3rd act break up!
The symbolism of the Butterfly Kisses : Chef's kiss beautiful!
Make sure to check the content warnings, but I'm sure your heart will melt for Sawyer and Damien.
✨ARC Review✨ Butterfly Kisses By: Jess Taylor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️.5/5
Tropes: 🦋: Single Dad 🦋: Workplace Romance 🦋: Age Gap 🦋: Tattoo Artist MMC 🦋: Independent FMC 🦋: Found Family
The way I was kicking my feet and giggling was absolutely everything! I had such an amazing time reading this book! I could not put it down!
Damien King. Thats it, thats all I have to say! He had an absolute two handed chokehold on me! Tattoo artist, single dad, grumpy man that made me fall in love with him! The way he was burning for Sawyer in the beginning and it was like a firework when they finally got together! He was protective of her from the start and when she was finally his he really was protective! I love the relationship he had with the girls! He was just amazing!
Sawyer was a firecracker, confident and so outspoken which I loved but she kept a lot of things in and had hesitation trusting, which I relate to a lot. Her situation growing up was a rough one and I am so glad she found a way to overcome her demons! I love the relationship she had with the girls even though she was hesitant about it!
I loved the girls also! They were typical teenage wise asses and they were so so so funny! The sweet moments made me swoon and the spicy moments made me blush! I loved the friend group also! I loved King and Sawyer so so so much!
*Thank you Good Girls PR and Jess for the Arc in Exchange for an honest review*
This series is so beautifully written, the emotional turmoil each couple has gone through, the love and passion and just the overall stories have been so incredible, and this book definitely did not disappoint.
As soon as I saw that this was Kings book I knew I was gonna be in love. Watching him from the sidelines for the first 3 books, I wanted to know so much about him and his girls, admins watching his character progression as well as his journey and how Sawyer fits into his life was so beautiful written. I found myself falling even more in love with him as a dad and as a book boyfriend. I loved seeing the vulnerability in him with his daughters but also how he opens his heart and his family up for love.
I also absolutely loved Sawyer. She was funny, sassy, a string badass, and even though she has her own insecurities and traumas to deal with she was such an inspiring role model for Kings daughters and how she was with them 🫶🫶 I loved the banter she had with them, and don’t even get me started on their romance….the spice 🥵🥵
Damien & Sawyer are so well matched and from the beginning it was evident that they were meant for each other with the pull and push they felt.
Thank you so much to Good Girls PR and Jess Taylor for this ARC read. This series has been so beautiful to read and I’m so happy to have read it. I definitely hope there’s more and I can’t wait to see what else Jess has in store. 💖
🚨 Spoiler Alert: This book might steal your heart! 🚨
They say life’s full of defining moments. Both good and bad. But for Sawyer, she's always stayed put until now.
Sawyer's waving goodbye to her old life and diving headfirst into a new city with her BFF by her side. New job, new vibes, and a dash of chaos—enter Damien King.
It all kicks off with a spilled drink (classic meet-cute, anyone?). One minute, he's just a guy she drenched at a bar; the next, he's her new boss at a tattoo shop. Oops! Damien is a tatted-up single dad with two adorable daughters. He's got the grumpy but lovable thing down pat.
Sawyer’s a total badass—strong-willed, feisty, and never backs down. Her past? Messy. But she’s ready to shine. And Damien? He’s fighting his feelings like a champ, but Sawyer's breaking down those walls one smile at a time.
Their chemistry? Off the charts! The banter? On point! Sawyer and Damien's journey from enemies to lovers is a rollercoaster of feelings. Plus, her bond with his girls? Heart-melting!
What rocked my world: The first-person POV! It’s like being inside Sawyer’s head 24/7—intense, right? But also kinda of overwhelming.
Butterfly Kisses is a wild ride of romance, challenges, comfort, and all the feels. Fast-paced, sweet, and emotional—Jess Taylor nailed it!
Quirky Fact: I stayed up WAY too late devouring this book. Seriously, don’t start it unless you’re ready for a sleepless night!
Whenever I see this title, I always think of the song "Butterfly Kisses" as my parents used to play it for us as children and then we would also give our parents and vice versa, little Butterfly Kisses. The other great thing is that even though this is Book #4 in the series, it can be read as a standalone tale. The book starts with the main female character Sawyer having enough one day when her brother comes home and tells her she has to pay her mum's debt to a drug dealer known as Jasper. Sawyer knows that her family is always going to take and if she stays, she will end up going down with them and sinking into a world of sex and drugs. She decides to leave town and moves in with her best friend who is a model. This leads to Sawyer having a job, getting fired, and then getting a new job as a receptionist at a Tattoo Parlour run by Damien King. He is a single father of two daughters and spends his whole world revolving around work and his family. He doesn't have time to date and also, he has his daughters to think of, but there is something about Sawyer as he feels he can be himself around her as she brings out his fiery passionate side and a bonus is his daughters love her. Can Sawyer be the person for Damien and has she finally found a family that can be hers? Find out in this edgy New Adult romance where sometimes to start fresh, we have to do the hard thing and leave our old lives behind for good.
I would like to thank Jess Taylor & Good Girls PR for giving me the honour to ARC read this book. I read it in one day and it will be a decision that I will never regret.
Rating: 4.75⭐
The book starts out with Sawyer walking out on her family after her family betrayed (good for her and I support that). She goes to live with her best friend and keeps working at dead end jobs. On a day when she was fired, she bumps into Damian at a bar after he walked into her causing her to spill her drink. Both get on the wrong foot. Few months later, she gets hired to be a receptionist at Damian’s tattoo shop by his old receptionist. The forced proximity of both made for so much chemistry and I loved that.
This book is a slow burn and normally I wouldn’t love a slow burn, but this book had me wanting to what would happen next. I think the star of the show was Damian’s both daughters, Ellie and Willow. The dynamics between the Sawyer and the two daughters were so amazing. I loved the fact that Sawyer became their best friend and while dealing with her own demons she managed to heal and bring Damian and his family closer.
If you are in a mood for an age-gap, single dad slow burn book, and this is the one for you. The way on how it was written, it made the experience even more enjoyable and I just couldn’t put it down! Thank you again to Jess Taylor and Good Girls PR for this book.
