I've always had trouble drawing males. I don't know why but I think it's that while women are easily divided into breasts, waists and hips, men don't have such easy distinction.

In order to rectify this, I wanted a book that would help me learn these skills. I looked around Amazon and similar to see what was available and found very few that were dedicated to just males.

Then I found this one.

It's colourful cover instantly attracted me, along with its decent price. It had consistently great reviews unlike the others I had found and so I decided to jump right in and purchased it.

I was not disappointed. This book is full of beautiful art and plenty of helpful tips for drawing men and yaoi. The book doesn't really hold your hand through the drawing process but you can learn a lot simply by looking carefully at the way the artist has drawn their own work. It's also a really good reference for couples poses and positions.

Overall an excellent book!

DO NOT USE THIS BOOK TO LEARN.

Listen, I love this book, I've practiced with it for almost a decade, I love the artstyle, the tone, everything but....hear me out...

THESE DRAWINGS HAVE ZERO CONSTRUCTION.

I know this because I actually took the time to lay a grid on top of them, and realized there is no consistency, no symetry, no construction, no nothing. And yet, somehow, they work. They are beautiful, stylish and alluring. But they are neither anatomically correct nor balanced.

If you want to learn to draw, do not use this as a text book. Use it as inspiration, but for actual learning, you are better off using the Loomis Method or Preston Blair's Advance Animation. Trust me. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID: I spent six years trying to replicate her artsyle, blaming my failure to do so on my lack of talent when in reality, I HAD TOO MUCH TALENT, that's why I couldn't copy something so unbalanced and chaotic as her drawings.
