150 years ago, I betrayed my vampire mate to save his life. Now can I risk it all to finally fulfil the bargain I made with the demon Eris and get my body back? Will Ashe forgive me and give me a second chance? Or will it be too late when Eris's ancient enemy catches up to the Nightshade Vampires?
Vampire Runner is book four in the Nightshade Vampires, a paranormal romance series featuring a vampire mafia clan. It can be read on its own and does not end on a cliffhanger. However, like most series, it is best read in order.
This book was just ok for me. It just wasn't as engaging to me as the previous books were. I liked the characters and storyline and there was some action and suspense. What I didn't care for, and this is just me, is that the book goes from past to present time and back to past constantly. That just totally ruins a book for me. Looking forward to the next book in this series because I really enjoy this author.
This is book four and I am excited to read about what happened in the past between mates Ashe and Cassandra. As we know from the other books, Cassandra made a sacrifice with a demon Eris to protect the Nightshades and her love Ashe during some battle. This book gives you their history and then how this journey finally unfolds. Beware that the author uses the back and forth technique of telling their story, so chapter in the future, then the next in the past throughout the entire book. It’s a bit irritating by the 50 percent mark because the plot situation is tense and then the book goes back in history. The epilogue really was nice and cemented their happy ending. The author teases that Malachi is the next book up. Read On!
I really enjoyed this read! I was hooked on the couple and their story from the first book of the series (this is book 4) and I’m glad they got the ending they deserve! The plot was good and kept me interested. However, this books timeline jumps back and forth between chapters, which is a writing style I personally don’t like. Apart from that overall it was a fast paced read and I would recommend!
I really enjoyed reading how the two mates got together to understand their present state of despair. I found the characters deeply fleshed out. I’m glad Malachi finally gets his own book coming soon. Now we just need one for Rhys the Rock Star.
I had forgotten this series and it was only by chance I happened on it again. I like the Nightshades. Rereading was like seeing an old friend. Very good!
