SOMETIMES A FANTASY... PSYLOCKE vs. BETSY BRADDOCK in a 30-year-long battle! EMPATH's misdeeds come back to haunt him! And MR. SINISTER's teeth hurt. What IS going on here?!
Mi piaceva l'idea dietro agli Hellions. Poteva funzionare.
Issues #9-#11 was basically a Sinister arc where he managed to circumvent the oversight of Krakoa into one of his pet projects that involve playing with his favorite playthings, the genetic matter of the mutants of Krakoa, and now as fallout for X of Swords, of Arakko's mutants, too.
What was the point of this? It was like a heist movie, where we find out that someone isn't just double-crossing someone, but TRIPLE-crossing! My word!
I don't enjoy most of these characters. I don't get that much pleasure out of wonton cruelty. In this issue a lot of people are killed out of hand, or ordered killed as a sort of perfunctory, "Aha!" for the reader. I didn't enjoy any of it, and if anything it was boring in its repetition.
A possible romance was hinted at, and I can't bring myself to care about it at all. However, it was arguably the most interesting thing to come out of this waste of time.
Well it doesn't live up to the promise of the last issue that's for sure.
I just struggle with this title a bit because I'm really struggling to invest in the characters. Psylocke is good, Greycrow is developing a personality (though on the flip side as he develops Havok regresses into an ignored mooning over crazy woman love sick kid) the rest.... Meh.
I like the double/triple cross thing and playing Arcade, especially with him thinking he's the boss man in the situation but it's kind of a shame to dispense with him as a villain so swiftly.
Sinister was, as ever, great. They've really nailed his character and his scenes are almost always worth a read.
Him having Psylockes daughter... I didn't enjoy the title early doors so maybe I missed it but that caught me by surprise. So he's basically forcing her to go along with his dodgy capers? At least we know how Hellions will end, with her kicking his ass.
Not to mention this for the millionth time, but just dispense with Nanny bot, stupid robot and Empath they are pointless. Get characters with some, well, character and also some purpose.
Still loving this: the conclusion was unexpected to me, mostly because it's convoluted enough I wouldn't have guessed, but makes sense and is going to make things tougher for Psylocke and easier for the rest of the team.
I really want to see where this goes. Once again, amazing art.
I liked it but it moved a little too quickly through the scenes and that made it a little anti-climatic. Mastermind is a weasley little shit & his daughter a murderous hag. The previous issues had my standards way up for this issue and the only thing that really happened is Psylocke is more angry than she was.
Not much to enjoy here. Another issue that had very little involvement from the majority of the team. The growing tension between Psylocke and Sinister has potential. But this storyline of his (inevitable) deception was a mess.
