Book 1: Buried Cold Case Secrets Book 2: Twin Murder Mix-Up Book 3: Detecting Secrets Book 4: Killer Christmas Evidence
Award-winning, bestselling author Sami Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn’t until her 30’s that she found authors that captured her attention. Now, most evenings, you can find her engrossed in a Romantic Suspense. In her opinion, a crime and a little romance is the recipe for a great story.
She lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.

I received this book as an ARC with no expectation of a positive review. I love the story of Kyle and Cassidy. This is a story of new beginnings from tragedy. Someone is stalking Cassidy who is a detective that is on leave. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat as this stalker is determined that Cassidy is not going to live.
Kyle Howard gets his story in book 4 in the Anderson County Sheriff's series. Kyle joins forces with his estranged friend, Cassidy, to determine if there is a serial killer on the loose or not.
Killer Christmas Evidence is a nice holiday addition to the series. I enjoyed how Sami wrote the reconciliation of two really good friends and more.
I received an advanced reader copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
One of the things I really like about the Deputies of Anderson County series is that if you have read the other books in the series, you get to catch up with the characters in the future books and see what is going on in their lives. However, if you haven’t read any of the earlier books, it is not a problem at all. The author has written each story so that readers can jump right in and dive into the suspense and danger without any knowledge of prior events.
Cassidy and Kyle had an interesting dynamic in this book. As the novel begins, we learn that these two used to be friends, since Kyle was engaged to Cassidy’s best friend, Amber. But we also learn that Kyle blames Cassidy for Amber’s death. There is a lot of anger emanating from Kyle and he gets quite a few well placed digs in to make Cassidy aware that he holds her responsible and does not want to be around her.
I liked that the walls began to fall down between these two as they tried to not only investigate a number of mysterious deaths, but also realized that they had become the killer’s target. As they barely escaped death over and over again, they started to actually talk and work through the tragedy that had come between them.
This story was packed with action and I really enjoyed the former friends turned enemies turned love interest vibe that flowed through the pages.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Author Sami A. Abrams hit it out of the park with Killer Christmas Evidence, I could NOT put it down! A painful past, a dangerous present, and non-stop action, has this great whodunit story keeping me up late at night! Told with depth, woven with faith, friendship, and perfect humor at all the right times makes this an endearing story, while at the same time keeping you on the edge of your seat! For lovers of romantic suspense, you need to check it out. I highly recommend Killer Christmas Evidence.
Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.
Sami knocked out of the park with this one! Cassidy and Kyle have to stuff for each other to get serious about one another! Loved Ethan and Brent (EMTS) and their since of humor! Keeps you on your toes all the way to the end!
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.

Sami Abrams hits it put of the park again!! Killer Christmas Evidence is a great non stop action, page turning story.
With what looks like a serial killer on the loose, amnesia and trying to stay alive, Cassidy and Kyle's investigation keeps you on your toes in this great book.
I received this ARC free from the author(s), and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
“‘How is he finding us? Or should I say me?’ She felt like a cat with nine lives. Only, she’d used eight of them.”
A serial killer that Detective Cassidy Bowman is attempting to track has her in his sights… clearly… now if she can just convince the whole Valley Springs police force, including one former friend, Kyle Howard. Not just of the killer’s existence, but that he is responsible for many closed cases that have been considered “accidents.”
Unfortunately, the person assigned to keep Cassidy safe and work closely with her, believes the worst of her abilities as a detective. After the disastrous raid that killed his fiancé, Kyle holds Cassidy responsible. Forgiveness is not part of his plan.
Cassidy has perfection issues. She learned long ago from her military father that only perfection is acceptable. Anything less makes her unworthy. Yet, she failed her best friend, who was also Kyle’s fiancé.
Two people with such excessively heavy baggage forced to work together? Wow! If their enemy doesn’t get them, their own attitudes will ignite and explode like the dangers surrounding them. Where does God fit in the middle of this chaos and confusion? Come along with Sami A. Abrams in Killer Christmas Evidence to find out!
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. I also bought my own ebook. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:
“You let God be God. Only He has the power of life and death. You must trust Him. You may not get the answers you want, and the outcomes might hurt, but He’ll be there to comfort you.”
“Sometimes it’s harder to forgive ourselves even after we’ve asked for forgiveness from others. Maybe you should ask God to help you forgive yourself.”
An edge of your seat Christmas suspense that I couldn’t put down this morning as I had to find out who was trying to kill Cassidy and why. This one actually stumped me which is unusual as I can usually figure them out. I enjoyed the characters and the tension between Cassidy and Kyle as they navigated being thrown together after nine months of not speaking. They were realistic as they both had to work through issues from their pasts. I found it fascinating how the case was worked to prove a link to numerous deaths that possibly involved a serial killer. This was more nerve wracking than navigating a narrow, curvy back road in the dark. I especially loved the Faith they shared and how they depended on it in the midst of their storms. A quick read that is entertaining and engrossing. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
We are back with another fantastic entry into author Sami Abrams’ Deputies of Anderson County series with Killer Christmas Evidence. Cassidy Bowman is a police deputy. She won’t - and can’t - be swayed that her cousin’s death was no accident. Add to that her emotional fallout over the death of her partner, Amber, and best friend months before her cousin’s death…her boss has put her on forced leave. Detective Kyle Howard happens upon a fire, and the woman he saves is the last woman he wanted to see again. He’s ignored and avoided Cassidy - Cassie - since Amber’s death. Amber was his fiancee and he blames Cassie for the drug raid going sideways. Now they find themselves working together as that fire was no accident. Someone is after Cassie, and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department aims to find out who. As they work together, hints of the friendship they used to share begin to emerge, and maybe…more? But the Lord will have to work in each of their hearts to heal the hurt they each carry. I loved this book, and cannot wait for the next in the series! I received a complimentary copy of this book, by my opinion is entirely my own.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Department is back in action, and this may be their most explosive case yet! Mysterious deaths appear to be linked to a serial killer and Detective Cassidy Bowman's memory loss makes her a target also. Will the officer assigned to the case succeed in setting aside his personal feelings to offer her the best protection possible?
Killer Christmas Evidence is an emotionally charged story that's filled with pain, loss, and an overpowering need for resolution and peace. Multiple twists and turns, intense suspense, and the personal relationship between Cassidy and Kyle kept me fully engaged and turning the pages! Sami A. Abrams is a master at writing romantic suspense novels and this series just keeps getting better!
I received a copy of this book from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own opinions.
Another thrill ride from Sami A. Abrams. Christmas Killer Evidence starts off with action and suspense, and had me hooked until the very end. Cassidy Bowman is desperate for someone to believe her. She's investigating the mysterious car accident that killed her cousin and connects the dots between other accidental deaths. She's convinced it's something more. Kyle Howard has a sordid past with Cassidy, but can't deny someone wants to silence her.
I love this story! I'm all about the twists and turns, but the characters really come to life. Kyle and Cassidy's lives are intertwined, and they need each other to solve past hurts. But vulnerability is tough, and Kyle has to let go so he can move forward.
This is an action-packed story full of twists and turns that will keep readers turning the pages. It can easily be read as a standalone novel, even though it is part of a series (Deputies of Anderson County). It's enjoyable to try and unravel the clues with Cassidy and Kyle. The characters learn to trust God, as we all must do, to help them. The flawed characters are realistic and relatable, and the faith message is woven throughout so it's not preachy. This book is a great option for suspense lovers' TBR piles.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.
Suspense, forgiveness, love, friendship, and a case to solve all combine for an edge of your seat ride! Memorable characters with unique crimes and several possible suspects keeps you guessing! Worth the read! This book was provided by the author and publisher for me to read. The thoughts expressed here are my own opinions.
Thank you in advance to the author, Sami A. Abrams, for providing a complimentary review copy. A positive review was not required, and all words are my own.
Here we are … again … back in Valley Springs with the Deputies of Anderson County. Has it really been two years since this series started? It doesn’t seem like it.
It is often rare for me to have read an author’s books from the beginning of their career. So, when I can read an author’s work – whether standalone or series – from their first book to now, it’s a real treat. And, it is a great experience watching the books from idea, to cover reveal, to release.
It’s also a treat when that first book wasn’t even “officially” part of a series, but becomes one down the road. Abrams’ first book, Buried Cold Case Secrets (December 2021; Jason and Melanie’s story), did just that. It wasn’t until the second book, Twin Murder Mix-Up (Keith and Amy’s story), that this officially became the series it is now. It’s been a pleasure to be taken on this ride, and the author isn’t done yet. That is for certain.
Right off – do these need to be read in order? Most series books COULD function on their own. But, I find if the same characters return, and some events are mentioned in future books, it’s always HIGHLY and STRONGLY encouraged to read them in order.
And, that is the case with this book. Anyone looking to avoid spoilers should ALWAYS read the previous books. Newer books likely have updates and spoilers.
I am still glad Dennis turned out to be a good guy. Those who’ve read the first book might understand where I’m coming from.
Returning to/and or mentioned in this book:
🚓 Detective Jason Cooper 🔬 Melanie Hutton-Cooper (Forensic Anthropologist) 📸 Amy Baker-Young 🚓 Detective Keith Young 🚓 Sheriff Dennis Monroe ⛑️ Charlotte Bradley 🚓 Detective Kyle Howard 🚓 Detective Doug Olsen 🚑 Brent (Paramedic with VSFD) 🚑 Peter (Paramedic with VSFD) 🚑 Rachel (Paramedic with VSFD) 🚑 Ben (Paramedic with VSFD)
And, readers are introduced to:
🚓 Detective Cassidy Bowman
Even though it is from the Christian line, there might be some inherent triggers or content for certain readers. These are usually arson, attempted murder, PTSD, depression, death of a loved one.
And, it is the last one that pits Kyle against Cassidy – well, in his mind.
Abrams wastes no time into getting into the action with this one.
Cassidy, on leave from her police department – for what her supervisor thinks is mental stress – is in Valley Springs. She’s investigating deaths, seemingly unconnected, that she feels are the result of a serial killer. In each case, including her cousin’s, the family INSISTS the victim wouldn’t have been so careless. Isn’t that what they always say? 🤔 But, it is her near-OCD tendencies that kick in and are screaming at her that SOMETHING is wrong. Tendencies she learned as the child of a military officer who demanded NOTHING less than 100% perfection. But, it might be that perfection that keeps her from seeing what is in front of her.
But, someone doesn’t want her poking into the cases, and that person sets out to silence her. Seeing the fire, her landlord flags down someone – Detective Kyle Howard.
Kyle has left Dennis’ Christmas party, still in shock over losing his fiancé, Amber, in a failed raid. A raid that was led by the woman Kyle rescues – Cassidy. Mr. Webster, the landlord, refers to Cassidy as sweet. That’s not how Kyle would describe her. Once friends, he ghosted her after Amber’s death, and blaming Cassidy. He is shocked to see burn scars, scars and pain that haunt Cassidy.
Kyle is reluctant to believe that Cassidy was attacked. While at the hospital someone calls to threaten her, and Kyle is slightly concerned. After getting what she needs, he drops her off at a hotel. Dennis orders him back, and Kyle sees someone attacking her.
He knows the danger is real, but is conflicted by his anger towards her. Dennis all but ORDERS Cassidy into protective custody. Even if her theory is just that – a theory – someone is ACTUALLY after her. And, the ACSD is wondering if the who and why is connected to something she’s discovered.
Dennis decides to authorize some interviews to check her theory out, but wants something solid before giving it a “greenlight”. That forces Kyle to work with Cassidy, which is strenuous for both of them.
Cassidy wants their friendship back. She knows she did NOTHING wrong in the raid (was cleared of it due to Amber’s actions). And, while Kyle knows that, he has to place the blame somewhere. Of course, that somewhere is on Cassidy. Though, what he really wants to know is if words he spoke to Amber – in anger – caused his fiancé to lose her focus, leading to her death. For Kyle, Amber’s death is a long line of harsh words he’s spoken that preceded the deaths of those he cared for and/or loved – his parents, his former partner, and Amber. Only Cassidy can help him.
The problem is that Cassidy has repressed those moments because of the painful burns and scars she suffered as a result of the failed raid. She doesn’t want to relive that pain. She’s also afraid if she does try to remember, she won’t come back emotionally in one piece. But, Kyle’s hot/cold attitude towards her is giving her headaches – more than what’s going on with her “case”.
In reinvestigating the “deaths” (at least three of them); not only does the ACSD gather more information about the victims; but someone becomes even more insistent on killing Cassidy. And, Dennis is beginning to believe there is more to her theory. Certainly, there is more to the deaths than were first thought.
And, Kyle is forced to reconcile his growing feelings for Cassidy before the killer succeeds.
The last 10% of the book was the MOST riveting, exciting, and heart-pounding part. I was looking at what was going on and the pages left to the end. Though, to be honest, books like this are quite predictable – they tend to have a happy ending – after all, they are inspirational romance, now aren’t they? It’s the getting there that has one on edge. But, this did tend more to suspense than romance; about 80%/20%. Since it was an “enemies-to-more” trope, that was to be expected, which I didn’t mind. (Honestly, I wanted Dennis or Doug to knock some sense into Kyle).
Abrams doesn’t skimp on the danger or action. Had I not had “life stuff” going on while reading it – this would’ve been an EASY day-read. When I was able to read it, I was drawn right in and held captive. I could not put it down. It’s literally non-stop action from the beginning to the end. Arson, explosions, a drone, even a near-drowning – this is one intense, suspenseful, edge-of-seat, emotional read.
I say emotional because there were some tears (especially for that poor tree on the front cover 💔😭 poor thing!). And, there were a few laughs as well. Despite this series being about the deputies of Anderson County, I would LOVE to see Ethan (one of the paramedics) get a story of his own! He was a riot, and much needed because of what Kyle and Cassidy were going through. And, they were going through a lot. Rachel was a treat talking about the “boys” and their lollipops.
I was a bit irritated as well. While I understood where Kyle was coming from; blaming Cassidy who’d not only been injured but lost her best friend; was out of line. Ghosting her after the incident was pretty cold too. But, seeing his character progression – it was heartwarming.
I was hoping that Melanie and Cassidy could have had their talk about that “misplaced guilt” from the guys. Those who’ve read Buried Cold Case Secrets will understand Melanie’s “connection” to what Cassidy was going through. The talk didn’t happen, so I HOPE we can read about it sometime down the road in another book. I also wanted to know if Charlotte found out that the girl Dennis fostered was her daughter. At the end of Detecting Secrets, it was left open. The incident is referenced in this book, but the character doesn’t seem to say anything.
As with any book from a Christian line, there are themes of faith. These can be from nearly a sermon, to subtle tones such as prayer. Abrams is subtle with her faith tones.
I’m looking forward to reading Doug’s story in book #5 Witness Escape, coming September 2024. I just added it to my Goodreads “want to read” list.
Those who’ve been reading this series since the beginning – you really need to get this one, it’s lit 🔥
I've read many books that start off with a bang and fizzle out about halfway through. That is not the case with Sami A Abrams latest, Killer Christmas Evidence. She keeps you engaged throughout the story with an excellent plot and wonderful characters. This has been a great series and I'm looking forward to the next one.
All books can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend purchasing each one.
My thanks to the author/publisher for the ARC of this book. I was only asked to write an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this inspirational romantic suspense. The plot is interesting in that Cassidy thinks she has identified multiple murders done by the same person. This is a problem because the evidence seems to point to accidents. She has to prove her idea when conclusions have already been drawn. That is one obstacle Cassidy has to overcome.
The character relationships are interesting too. Cassidy is forced to work with Kyle where a past event makes him have great distrust of her. So one issue explored in this novel is making assumptions or drawing conclusions without all the evidence. That's what Kyle did and it prevents a possible relationship development with Cassidy. That is a second obstacle Cassidy must overcome if she is going to work with Kyle to find the elusive killer.
This is novel well written with an interesting plot and well developed characters. I Abram's writing style is good. The novel contains insights into making judgments too quickly and forgiving when blame is projected onto someone else because of self guilt.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
KILLER CHRISTMAS EVIDENCE by Sami A. Abrams is the fourth book in the Deputies of Anderson County series. It’s the riveting story of Detective Kyle Howard and Detective Cassidy Bowman that will keep your heart pumping with the excitement and danger as you try to find answers right alongside the two detectives and the whole Anderson County Sheriff Department in this can’t put down book.
Cassidy’s mother died of cancer leaving her raising to her father. Being a strict military man, he believed in a life of excellence without allowing emotions to interfere and expected nothing less from his daughter. Cassidy never seemed to be able to live up to his standards nor ever got his approval. However, his way of thinking had greatly affected her life, even after his death, and well into her adulthood. On forced leave from the Brentwood, IN police after the death of Amber, one of her team members and her best friend, while she tries to get a grip on her life. She ends up in Valley Springs, her home town, trying to find answers to the death of Laura, her cousin. The death had been ruled as an accident caused by drunk driving. It’s something she can’t accept because of the mutual pact they had about no alcohol after the horrible death of their friend back to when they were in school. Evidently, her early search for answers triggered someone into action because she seems to have found herself the bullseye on someone’s target.
Kyle still can’t forgive himself for the conversation 9 months ago with Amber, his fiancée. He’s wondered if it had a part in her getting killed that morning on the job. A drug raid gone wrong, left Amber dead and the rest of the team badly injured – including Cassidy. His whole life was once again turned upside down. Seems when he spouts off without thinking, the ones he loves die and he never has a chance to explain or to take the words back. It happened with his parents, then his partner and lastly Amber. In his hurt, he finds his anger directed in his and Amber’s friend, Cassidy. After all, she was the team leader. Why hadn’t she foreseen and prevented such an action? Now to have to face her was almost unbearable and then told it was his duty to protect her seemed almost impossible, but he will fulfill his duty.
Will Cassidy’s memory come back after an attack in her apartment that left her unconscious, injured and the apartment set on fire? Can she convince the team to her way of thinking of a serial killer that would tie a lot of the area deaths together – the ones that family members and friends can’t and won’t accept the police reports on. Will they help her prove that she’s not losing it, but is actually on to something? After one of their own becomes a target too, will investigating who is behind these personal attacks help convince them of the connection to the other crimes as well? Can Cassidy and Kyle find a way to work together? Will the memories of the friendship trio - Amber, Cassidy and Kyle - manage to open their ears and hearts up defusing some of the hurt for both of them allowing for healing? Would an attraction between them be dishonoring Amber’s memory? How many attempts on Cassidy’s life and by association on Kyle’s life can they survive before an attempt succeeds? After all, a cat only has 9 lives! Can they find out how Laura died and at whose hands? Will finding answers set them all free or have them killed as well?
KILLER CHRISTMAS EVIDENCE will grab you from the first page and will have you not wanting to stop reading until the very last page. It’s like a giant puzzle - putting all the clues together in order to see the whole picture. The danger and excitement keep coming from every direction as Cassidy and Kyle work through their pasts of disappointments, hurt and loneliness and into a possible brighter future. Sami A. Abrams expertly wraps it all in a wonderful thread of faith giving us reminders that God’s in control and that he is good and loving. Fabulous FIVE STAR reading that I highly recommend to everyone. Although part of the series, it can most definitely be read as a standalone book.
I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.
The story sent shivers down my spine as Cassidy unravels the death of her cousin. After Cassidy recovers from a near fatal fire, she finds herself trying to piece together what happened that day. Now she is after a serial killer that has put Cassidy in his sights. It is a race against time as danger starts to overtake her. What happens to her in her apartment is beyond scary. I couldn’t believe what she has endured and I was right there as she struggled to survive.
Kyle has suffered a great loss when Amber died. Now he is surrounded by extended family as Christmas draws near. As he drives home he sees a house on fire. His quick thinking helps save Cassidy. Their past was not a great memory for Kyle. He blames Cassidy for his fiancés death. After all she was the task force commander when things went south.
The story is filled with danger and intrigue as Kyle and Cassidy team up to catch a serial killer on the loose. It is understandable that people are worried about Cassidy mental state. A fire, a drug bust gone bad, death, fires and oh yes a serial killer keeps this story at an intense level of suspense. It is not clear at first if Cassidy and Kyle can work together. As they begin to follow clues you see Kyle starting to give Cassidy a little bit of encouragement. I really liked how the author allows Kyle to work on his anger towards Cassidy. For Kyle it is a need for him to find closure and been to forgive. Have you ever blamed someone for something they didn’t do? Working forgiveness out is hard but oh the freedom it gives is everything.
With drones equipped with weapons and strange vehicles following them they have to dig in deeper to see where this investigation is going. Is there a serial killer out there that has their sights set on Cassidy? What did she witness that has someone ready to harm her? The intense action fills the pages as Kyle slowly starts to believe that Cassidy is in to something that others have missed.
Get ready for an ending that will have you gasping for breath. The story is so so good and I loved the illustration of forgiveness. One of the best suspense books I’ve read lately. It is sure to be a big seller.
“Sometimes we don’t want to believe the reality of what we’re going through, so we ignore the warning signs.”
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
In Valley Springs Christmas is multi-colored lights, Christmas trees and nativity scenes, but it is not a silent night with vicious killer on the prowl.
Fire is a scary thing to everyone. It can take everything from you. Detective Cassidy Bowman survived a fire once, but it left its mark on her, both mentally and physically. Now Cassidy has linked a series of events to one another which means she is in a killer's sights. Cassidy needs someone to believe her instincts are correct. Detective Kyle Howard has been assigned to help her and keep her safe. He is not a happy man, for more than one reason. Their past losses have caused a great divide, but they need each other. Kyle soon becomes fully aware of the fact that Cassidy is in grave danger and may just be onto something. They both need to heal, but they also need to put their heads together to solve this intricate mystery.
This was quite a wild ride of scary proportions. I love all of the Anderson County series, but this one is definitely my favorite. There were no rest stops along the way in this action packed story. It was an intricately plotted mystery with loads of intrigue and a relentless pace that will leave you breathless. The characters were broken and needed healing from others and themselves, yet even in their broken state they were bound to their need for justice and healing for others. There were some emotional moments as memories came to the surface which made me shed a little tear. I could not stop reading it. It was definitely a one sitting read. If you love clean, romantic suspense, you will love this newest mystery by Sami A. Abrams.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"Documents and photos covered an entire wall. Her own version of a murder board. He moved in for a closer look. Pictures of a car accident, a drowning in a lake, a drive-by shooting, a strangulation and a stabbing. Red strings connected many of the images to a question mark, but she'd linked the others together."
Cassidy wants justice for her cousin. She is certain that the accident was not her fault. Investigating that event led to connecting other incidents. But no one seems to be willing to listen to her. Can she convince her one-time friend Kyle who is also in law enforcement to help her? Even more importantly, can she convince him to forgive her?
There is plenty of unpredictable action in this book. I guessed incorrectly twice at who was the troublemaker. At times, I wanted to take a deep breath and pause. So many attacks happened that I was not convinced that anyone could survive without being hospitalized. That was the only part that seemed a bit unrealistic to me. But maybe detectives have to keep going no matter what happens. I did think that the love angle was believable.
Forgiveness is a strong theme. Parts are positive. But the grudges are also real. The spiritual element was also important to the storyline. Trusting God when tragedy happens is hard.
I really enjoyed reading another "Deputies of Anderson County" series. I do think that this title could be read as a stand alone. But I am glad that I read all of the other books first. As for the Christmas aspect, I think this book could be enjoyed anytime during the year.
I was given an advanced copy of this title for a book tour. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own.
Killer Christmas Evidence is a wonderful fast-paced suspense novel that you’re going to love reading and knowing the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and could not put it down.
Cassidy was searching for a killer. But what happens when the killer figures out she’s onto him? Her house gets set on fire and she gets hit over the head. And now she can’t remember what she’d discovered or why the killer might have targeted her.
Can she convince others to help her in her search? Will they believe her about what she can’t remember or think she’s just crazy?
This is also part of a series. You don’t have to read all of the books to get the full story on this but of course who doesn’t like reading more than one book? I happen to have had the pleasure of reading the whole series though and loved seeing some old friends.
Kyle is our main character in this one. If you’ve read the rest of the series you will know him and have wanted to know his story. Kyle and Cassidy have a history. As the book progresses you learn more about it and get to watch them make amends and finally come to terms with their grief.
You’re going to love this book. It read quickly. The characters were wonderful. And I would love to visit them again.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
Wow, if you are looking to add some intensity to your Christmas reading, this book has you covered. Danger, trees, serial killers, carols- you got it.
Cassidy, a detective, has been through a lot in the past year. Losing her partner and best friend, Amber due to terrible crime accident where Cassidy suffered severe burns. She also lost her cousin to a drunk driving accident as well. On top of all that, her cousin's accident looks like murder to Cassidy. And what she has been working on has not only gotten her placed on a forced leave, but also, she has garnered the unwanted attention of a serial killer.
Detective Kyle Howard was Amber's fiancé and a friend of Cassidy. Except now he wishes he never knew Cassidy as he blames her for Amber's death. However, now he has been drawn into Cassidy's case when he saves her life a few times in one night. He can hardly stand to be around her but her evidence that she has collected and the target on her life gives her investigation proof. What can he do but try and forgive her and help her.
This was an interesting story especially as Cassidy and Kyle rekindle their friendship and possibly more. I thought the unfortunate twist on their friendship was hard, but their romance was one that was hard won and meaningful. After all they had been friends in the past and now, they have been surviving a killer's relentless blood thirsty agenda. This was a perfect twisty thriller, holiday romance.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
I truly enjoy the LOVE-Inspired Suspense series of books, Killer Christmas Evidence by Sami A. Abrams is the latest book I have read in the LOVE-Inspired Suspense series. This is Book 4 in the Deputies of Anderson County series. I have read this series from the beginning and I am always happy when the next book comes out!
Cassidy King is on a Leave from her Detective Duties due to a raid gone wrong. She has memory loss at the moment due to being hit on the head during the raid. She believes that a Serial Killer is on the loose and she is the next target. Detective Kyle Howard has been assigned to keep Cassidy safe. He has anger and frustration towards Cassidy because his fiance, Amber, was killed in the raid and he blames Cassidy. Cassidy is also is trying to convince Kyle to investigate and help her catch the serial killer. Can Kyle overcome his frustration and help Cassidy? Can they repair their friendship?
Sami Abrams really has a PAGE TURNER book with this one! The storyline captured my attention from the very first chapter. I LOVE Cassidy's determination in trying to prove that there is a Serial Killer. She also misses her friend Amber a lot. Kyle Howard is a wonderful character. I love how he worked through his emotions toward Cassidy. Kyle and Cassidy worked through a lot to repair their friendship, even relying on God to help them. The twists and turns in this book really had me on the edge of my seat. I HIGHLY recommend this book and others in this series to anyone who enjoys Suspense and Romance. WONDERFUL BOOK!
Detective Cassidy Bowman is convinced that her beloved cousin’s death was not an accidental death, but murder committed by a serial killer. Now the biggest obstacle Cassidy faces is finding someone in the police department that will believe her, and not write off her serial-killer theory because of her personal involvement in the case. Before Cassidy can get her evidence to the right person, the murderer turns their sights on Cassidy herself. Detective Kyle Howard is not happy that he’s been assigned to protect Cassidy. There’s some animosity between them, and he’s not inclined to believe anything that Cassidy is telling him. Trust between them slowly begins to grow—-but is it too late to save Cassidy and stop the killer from making his final, deadly move?
I love to read author Sami Abram’s suspense stories because I know I’ll find her characters very interesting, and this was the case with Cassidy. She was a good person—and a dedicated police officer—who had experienced some difficult times and felt compelled to find the truth about her cousin’s death. It was easy to be aggravated at Kyle because he wasn’t giving Cassidy a fair break. Both had much to learn about not only trusting each other, but also trusting God for forgiveness, guidance and strength. This storyline had some surprises in it, and the ending was fast-paced and suspenseful, all the things I love about Love-Inspired fiction.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
Killer Christmas Evidence is written by Sami A. Abrams. This is book four in the Deputies of Anderson County series. This is Detective Kyle Howard’s story. Kyle was previously engaged and his fiance died after a raid that went wrong. Cassidy Bowman was the one that led that raid. Cassidy was Amber’s best friend. She is currently on leave from her job since her boss felt that she needed to take a break.
Cassidy is convinced there is a serial killer on the loose. Her cousin was killed a few months ago, and they ruled it a drunk driving accident. The issue Cassidy has is that her cousin did not drink. She wants to dig deeper into deaths that were ruled accidents or suicides and find the connection. However the raid that she led took part of her memory.
Kyle is so angry with Cassidy still. He blames her for Amber’s death. When she shows back up in town he has all intention to ice her out. However, it becomes clear that someone is targeting Cassidy. He is frustrated there are parts of the raid she cannot remember due to her memory - but he is ordered to keep her safe.
Both have experienced a deep hurt in their lives. Cassidy understands why Kyle is upset - but she wants to try and regain their friendship. The author did a great job in weaving in the faith element also. This might be my favorite book by this author yet.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
