Ich muss also meine Allianzen sorgfältig wählen.

Michelle Madow is a USA Today bestselling author of fantasy romance novels filled with forbidden love, elemental magic, and epic twists that readers never see coming. With over three million books sold and translations in multiple languages, her addictive stories have captured hearts around the world.
She wrote her first novel in college and never looked back. Now, with 50 books published (and counting), she spends her time dreaming up magical realms and devastating romances that keep readers hooked from page one.
Originally from Maryland, she spent nearly two decades in Florida before a brief chapter in NYC—and now she’s back in the Sunshine State, where golden days fuel her creativity and moonlight sparks her imagination.
When she’s not writing, she’s likely getting lost in the magical world of reading, plotting her next big twist, or reminiscing about her travels to all seven continents.
The games are getting serious. As Queen of the household, it's up to Selena to decide who goes to the death match at the end of the week. Politics, strategy, and popularity all play a part in her decision, making this the most important choice of her life... except, of course, the decision to defy her parents and leave the safety of Avalon. Meeting Julian, who kidnapped her and brought her to the Otherworld to participate in these games may be the worst thing that has ever happened to Selena. But despite his deception and betrayal, she continues to find herself drawn to him, and begins to wonder if they may actually be soulmates.
The world Michelle Madow has created for this series has been well established in both Annika's and Raven's stories. Even though each of those took places on other planes (Earth and Avalon), the characters and the rules remain the same. Of course, Otherworld brings a whole new facet, with powerful fae magic and the gifts from the Olympian gods. So there's a bit of the familiar as well as new and exciting abilities.
This is the second book in the Faerie Games series. Although you can read this series without reading Vampire Wish and Angel Trials, I would definitely recommend reading book 1 of Faerie Games before reading this book. And of course, don't expect everything to be resolved in a neat little bow, since this is not the end of this story. It's like an episode of a TV show - parts of the current plot play out, but the overall story arc is not complete.
Luckily for all of us, Faerie Mates will be coming soon...
Wow this is a great second book! The story continues to grow and develop as do the characters in this fantastic world that has been built by the author. There’s action, twists and turns, a little romance and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!
In the second book, Survivor meets The Hunger Games keeps going, and going... while Selena and her soulmate battle to the death, her best friend and family battle to get to her in a typical quest style sub-plot to give the book word count and introduce the players for what will no doubt be another series. Did any of this have a conclusion by the end of the book? No.
Overall I liked this sequel. Selena is having to deal with a lot. This competition is fierce. I'm not sure who to trust anymore. I was disappointed by the fact that certain people didn't die and others did. I just hope in the next one the author makes up for that. I look forward to reading the next one and seeing how it all continues.
Great sequel! After the first book I could not stop reading so I immediately checked this out. Even though I haven’t read other series by this author I could see the connections to other stories because I’d seen the summaries and put the pieces together. I think it’s always so fun when authors have their characters from other books show up in stories that aren’t their own.
Another great book in this series! I really enjoy her writing style and the pace of her books! The characters and the plot are great as well. I will definitely pick up her other series once I'm finished with this one!
Another 3.5 rating. Nothing too deep when if comes to weaving. The story is a quick bullet of intense emotions and circumstances. I got over Selena's constant and wrong assumptions about Julian, it was getting old. One trial literally happened and then another death match and like.... That's all. All these things are fast, and hence a guilty pleasure. If I had to buy the books individually instead of using Kindle unlimited, I'd have a hard time choosing to continue.
Really, really liking this series!! I truly could not put it down!! Just FYI there is absolutely no spice in the first two books but please do not let that deter you from reading this series!
SOMEONE CALL CBS BC MICHELLE MADOW IS A THIEF. This book is literally a COMPLETE KNOCKOFF of the show Big Brother. If Michelle Madow claims she's never watched it, she's the biggest liar on the planet. It's a wonder she hasn't been sued considering whole scenes are nearly copied verbatim from the average Big Brother episode.
For those of you who don't know, Big Brother involves group of people entering a house where they compete in competitions and eliminate one person each week so that the last person standing wins a big prize. Everyone competes in a weekly competition to be the Head of Household (HOH). That person gets a special private bedroom and has the power to choose people who will have to battle it out in order to avoid being eliminated and continue onto the next week. The HOH can't participate in the following week's competition as outgoing HOH. Sound familiar? It should because Faerie Pawn involves a group of people entering a villa where they compete in competitions and eliminate one person each week so that the last person standing wins a big prize. Everyone competes in a weekly competition to be the Emperor of the Villa (EOV). That person gets a special private bedroom and has the power to choose people who will have to battle it out in order to avoid being eliminated and continue onto the next week. The EOV can't participate in the following week's competition as outgoing EOV.
In Big Brother, the HOH will often use a PAWN in order to eliminate their actual target. They often inform their chosen pawns ahead of time so that the pawn doesn't get angry and target them later. They do this by having secret meetings in the HOH bedroom, and they get away with it because everyone not in the HOH's alliance is expected to come up to the bedroom to plead their case and make deals/alliances or threats in exchange for safety. In Faerie PAWN, the EOVs use... wait for it... PAWNS... in order to eliminate their actual target. They inform their chosen pawns ahead of time because "if I let them know they're pawns, they might be less likely to come after me later." They do this by having secret meetings in the EOV bedroom, and they get away with it because everyone not in the EOV's alliance is expected to come up to the bedroom to plead their case and make deals/alliances or threats in exchange for safety. Got deja vu yet? IT GETS BETTER.
MOST SHOCKING TO ME: In Big Brother, during the nomination ceremony, the HOH stands in front of everyone and makes a speech about how hard of a decision it is but they have no choice but to choose players who will be up for elimination. The rest of their speech usually goes like this: "I'll turn two keys to lock in my nominations and the nominee's face will appear on the memory wall. The first houseguest I have nominated is... *dramatic pause as a face appears* [insert name]. I have nominated you because you said you were coming for me. The second houseguest I have nominated is... *dramatic pause #2* [insert name]. I have nominated you because you didn't make an effort to talk game with me, so I don't know where your head is at." In Faerie Pawn, during the selection ceremony, EOV Selena stands in front of everyone and makes a speech about how hard of a decision it is but she has no choice but to choose champions who will be up for elimination. The rest of her speech LITERALLY went like this: "I'll touch each orb and toss it into the air. The face of the selected champion will appear in the orb, locking in the decision of who I'll be sending to the arena. *dramatic pause as a face appears* I've selected [Octavia] because you told me during the welcome feast that you were coming for me." Then... *dramatic pause #2* she nominates Molly because "you made no effort to talk with me about the game this week. I have no idea where you stand."
In Big Brother, they have a competition where two competitors stand at the end of two lanes and attempt to knock down objects at the end of the lane after screwing up their balance by spinning around a bunch of times. The winner of each round chooses who faces off next, and it goes until there are only two people left who then compete against each other. In Faerie Pawn, there is a competition where two competitors stand at the end of two lanes and attempt to knock down statues at the end of the lane after screwing up their balance by drinking strong wine. The winner of each round chooses who faces off next, and it goes until there are only two people left who then compete against each other.
And yes, Big Brother monitors everyone by cameras 24/7 that broadcast to the general public. Except when discussing things producers don't want the general public to know. I'm sure I don't need to continue...
She doesn't even bother trying to hide it! And there are more rip-offs in the 3rd book.
I loved this book! I love that even though Selena tried not to win the first competition she did and sent Octavia to the arena. I hate that she sent Molly as well and how she ended up dying. The first round of the games was brutal. I love that Torrence was trying to figure out how to get to Selena and doing whatever she could.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I wasn't a fan from the beginning of the story, as Selena was a typical misbehaving kid - however I can fully understand her. I already got caught by the end of the first book, and it just became stronger. This book really held up curiosity until and after the very end. It ran on two main threads, both of them holding enough excitement and challenge for the characters to always wish you could read further. The Faerie Games is created and told really really well, creatively and to be exciting, on the other hand the happenings with the others are so exciting too. Very well done, Michelle really outdid herself again. Give me the next piece of the story already please!
The Faerie Pawn (Dark World: The Faerie Games Book 2)
Loved ❤️ this action packed book... it’s one you won’t want to put down . Selena is starting to get use of her powers, and yes sometimes she acts before she does damage.....I would love to see Octavia gone and I hope Selena destroys her.
I would definitely recommend this series and all of Ms Meadow’s series. You will NOT regret it.
Love / hate romance (definitely moving in the right direction), magic, fantasy, mythology, action and adventure galore, Michelle Madow’s The Faerie Pawn (Dark World: The Faerie Games Book 2) really had it all - and it’s all perfectly done. Add great writing to a perfect cast from Selena and Julien on down, a great plot (as Selena is finally coming into her powers now that Jupiter has broken the curse that had bound them) and perfect world-building. The result? Sheer reading pleasure. Definitely recommended
Selena's journey continues in this thrilling 2nd book of the series. The story continued in a natural progression from book 1. It is defintely a page turner and I love the descriptive way this author writes. You can visualize the story taking place as you read. Looking forward to the next in series
I received an ARC of the first book in this series and the prequel series to this one and I've enjoyed them all, so I always look forward to reading more on the characters! I then received an ARC of this book and I started reading it as soon as I could! After reading, I can say that I enjoyed this book a lot! It continued on the characters story brilliantly and a lot happened in it! The plot developed at the perfect pace and it kept me desperate to read on and find out how things were going to progress! There was a bit of action in the plot as well, which added to it and a few twist and turns to keep things interesting! The twist and turns were very unexpected and added to the plot! There was a bit of romance as well! All of these elements made the plot amazing and made me enjoy it even more! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Selena was again the main female character, and I felt for her in this book because she had to make some big decisions and they were going to have a big impact! Selena tried her best though and I had to keep reminding myself of how young she was! Selena had also grown a lot from the first book and I can see her becoming even stronger as this series progresses and she learns more about her power! Julian was again the main male character and love interest of Selena! Julian was in this book a lot in Selena's scenes, but he wasn't in Torrence's chapters because it was impossible lol! I feel like Julian gave Selena the chance to explain things and he supported her as best he could! He also made a lot of appearances in this book, which I loved! Torrence was also an important character in this book and I got to know a lot about her! I loved Torrence and she was determined and just wanted to get Selena back! I loved that this book was written from a few different point of views! I was expecting it to be because the first book and the prequel books have all been written this way! This book wasn't written from as many point of views as the first book, but it was mainly written from Selena and Torrence's point of views and then the end chapter was written from Lilith's point of view! I loved this book being written this way because it allowed for two different stories to be told that connected to each other! It helped me connect with all the characters as well and for more characters to be in the book! More things happened in the plot as well, which added a lot to it and made me enjoy it more! I now can't wait to read the next book in this series! This book was brilliant and I can't wait to continue the characters story! It said at the end of this book that the next book releases this winter, but I then found out it's April, which is spring and longer than I was expecting to wait lol! The author said it'll definitely be out before April though and I can't wait to find out what's going to happen next! The cover for this book is also absolutely stunning! I love how all the covers suit the books and how much they represent them! I love that it has the same cover model as the first book because she's the perfect Selena! Big thank you to Michelle for an ARC of The Faerie Pawn!
Heart racing, action packed, emotionally thrilling adventure filled with magically intriguing charters, memorable and witty dialog, exciting unexpected turns and edge of your seat thrills...... a excellent read and continuation of an addicting story. Excited for what every may happen next!
The Faerie Pawn (Dark World: The Faerie Games Book 2) By: Michelle Madow 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********
I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.
I thought Michelle couldn't top book 1 of this series. I was wrong in the best way possible. Michelle stepped up it up in book 2. Selena does her best given her situation. Things don't go as planned in the arena. Two of the three champions Selena chose betrayed her. That puts herself, Julian, Cassia, and Bridget in jeopardy. I'm gonna get this off my chest. I CANNOT stand Octavia. She is one of those mean girls we have come across in our lives. I hope Selena knocks her off her high horse 🐎. Torrence is doing everything she can to help rescue Selena. Torrence is sent on a quest with Thomas, Sage, and Randall. They are trying to find a way into the Otherworld. This ends in a cliffhanger involving Lilith and Lavinia. Those two were also in Dark World: The Angel Trials series. That little cliffhanger and twist has me going nuts for book three. 💜💜💜
•••••• I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book/series! •••••• ~~ I have Kindle Unlimited, and I used that service to read this book. ~~
The Faerie Games had started and Selena becomes the winner of the first competition and the Empress of the Villa. The Empress chooses three people to fight until one of them dies. Animosity among the contestants is great. Unfortunately Selena must choose and there is only one of the contestants she really wishes wasn't going to make it to the next round. Meanwhile, Prince Jason and Aunt Bella have not been heard from since they went to the crossroads. The Queen of swords and Torrence go to find out what the problem is. The fae had trapped them there. The Queen of Swords and Torrance now I have to find a way to get them out and end up on a quest to get into the otherworld. In the meantime, the Faerie Games continue while Selena hopes for the arrival of the Nephilim and her return to Avalon. The next book in the series 'The Faerie Mates' should prove to be very interesting. I received this book as an ARC for a fair review.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and volunteered to review it.
As usual with this author, I loved this book. We discover just how deep the connection between Selena and Julian goes, and how l it affects Selena’s abilities.
We get the feeling of impending world doom much sooner in this series tab in previous ones, but it communicates the urgency and tension so much more.
This 2nd book takes you deeper into the world, not only do you have more game action you see more of what’s going on everywhere else! Can’t wait til book 3!
I enjoyed reading this continuation of Faerie Games. These games are very thrilling and I loved all the twists and turns. It was also good to see some of my favorite characters from the previous series. So far, this series is going very well and I’m looking forward to seeing how it’ll all unfold. Selena is trying to do her best to survive the Otherworld. She doesn’t want to die and if that meant doing what needed to be done then so be it. These games are deadly and sooner or later they’re all going to die, with only one survivor. She will try to stay alive for as long as possible. Julian feels guilty and maybe something more… He will try to help Selena as much as possible but in the end, he plans to win the games because that is the only way he can ensure his family’s safety. Together, they will make new alliances and break some old ones. One thing is for sure Faerie Games aren’t going to be boring at all. On Earth, Selena’s friends are trying to find a way to save her. There isn’t much they know about the Otherworld but they will stop at nothing. Selena’s safety is their top priority. Along the way, they will uncover time old secrets and realize that ‘myths’ are not just stories for bedtimes. There is much truth behind them. All in all, it’s a great story and I think all paranormal and mythology fans will enjoy this. Just remember, it’s an ongoing series and there is much to be revealed. I can’t wait to read the next installment in this exciting new series by one of my favorite authors. P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
This series is so intriguing. It reminds of course of the hunger games but with my favorite paranormal beings...the fae. I really enjoyed the worldbuilding and am now extremely excited to read the Vampire Wish (esp since its the first book within the same world.
The second episode of the Faerie Games keeps you on the edge of your seat turning pages frantically! All I can say of this series so far in one word WOW! When Selena is kidnapped and taken to the Otherworld by Julian, she is made to enter the Faerie Games to fight for her life. In this second book, we find Selena having to make alliances, having to learn to control her magic and constantly look over her back to protect herself. She should hate Julian, but her seems to want to protect her and more importantly, why does she feel attracted to him. Back home, plans were made to find Selena and bring her home no matter what it takes, and her parents, King and Queen of Avalon devise plans with some of their best assets and set about trying to get into the Otherworld and they run into a lot of trouble. We know that only one player in the games can survive in the end so Selena will do anything to be the one even though she is against a very formidable enemy, Octavia, who took an instant dislike to Selena, has some very strong magic, backed by the god Neptune, and wants to kill Selena as soon as possible. There is so much to this second book of the series and with cliff hangers, we are left dying to get into book 3! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This is the second book in the Faerie Games series and we get a closer look at Selena's participation in the Games. It's certainly interesting to read about each participant and their special magic powers, gifted to them by the Gods who chose them.
We also get to follow Torrence as she assists in the search for Selena, alongside a select few others. These characters were really special, and they each have their strengths (and weaknesses of course) and I can't wait to read how they get on with their search to rescue Selena from the Otherworld.
Selena has at this point participarted in a few weeks of the Games. It's really nerve wracking to see how Selena's nemesis Octavia spins the game in her favour by pitting against Selena at every single chance. Looking forward to the next book!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
